I fell out of love with my dentist and I was due for a cleaning. I was literally in a Waymo looked on yelp for nearby dentists in downtown near my office and say DPD. They had so many great reviews that I had to check it out. Such a beautiful office and wonderful people working there. The hygienist, dental assistant and the dentist were all so wonderful. No shaming over the state of my teeth. No pushing services I didn't want just a really good cleaning. I had a gum issue that we talked about fixing and they gave me the amount after insurance and I was able to schedule for the next week. Again a great experience. I highly recommend checking them out. Especially if you're sensitive about the state of your teeth and want staff that cares not shames. read more

I really like the care and service I get here, so much more than the run-as-many-people-through places that you often find in PHX. Though the ownership has changed, the level of care has not, and may have improved. For instance, they recommended I get a retainer to prevent issues down the road. I travel here from 30 miles away just to get a cleaning, as I used to live next door. They seem to be cutting edge on their technology, and the doctor is friendly. The only issue I wish they would improve is parking communication. I always have trouble finding a spot and don't know where their deck is to park at, and by the time I'm leaving it's too late. The front desk staff is friendly and nice and I've never had an issue with billing. My wife has been to different dentists that wanted to bill for phantom cavities but this place has never done that to me. They are honest and good. read more

Normally I have Audra as the Dental Hygienist, who is absolutely wonderful, kind, gentle, and incredibly personable. I've always had a great experience with the doctors too. Unfortunately today, I had a different hygienist who was very condescending and obstinate at just about everything discussed. I even tried to pay her a compliment, turning the other cheek with her negativity, about how little time it took for the cleaning, and she still couldn't handle that and had to again become argumentative telling me that it took almost an hour when it took 35 minutes, Other than this particular hygienist, everyone there from the front staff to the doctors and Audra, are wonderful to deal with. I would just recommend you ask only for Audra for your teeth cleaning and you will never go wrong. read more

Big shout out to the gang there for: * Super minimalist/modern space * Greeted warmly & helped at the front by lobby front desk ladies - Shy & sorry-I-don't-know-others-name * Experienced the most thorough & modern hygiene appointment by Audra - appreciated how she showed me X-ray results on monitor in front of my dental chair & what they meant * Met & treated by a dentist (Dr. Saif Ghanem) who obviously loves what he does & exudes that spirit * Got the lowdown on my dental health & it was surprisingly positive - some plaque but overall good shape! I like that they created a dental plan for me so I can save up for my next visit. As a champion teeth grinder, I need a new mouth guard & a small filling too. From the reception staff to the dental assistant to the dentist...I am sincerely indebted to this dentist office for their responsiveness, timeliness, professionalism, and great work! I was traveling to Phoenix for a trade show...on my first night in town, my temporary bridge broke, leaving me with a missing front tooth...there was no way I could work the show the next day looking like one of the seedy characters from the movie "Deliverance". Hoping for a miracle, at 9PM on a Sunday night I requested an appointment for "1st thing" Monday AM so my trip from Cleveland to Phoenix was not in vain. The receptionist called at 7:30AM, confirmed that I could come in when the office opened and they would fit me in. At 9:30AM I walked out looking good with a complete smile. This office came highly recommended by a friend and was so excited to try them out. Walked in to schedule a dental exam and had a less than welcoming experience when I walked in. I felt like I was interrupting their conversation and was really awkward. One girl said the smell in the office was making her nauseous. I didn't have my insurance card on me (my fault) but they didn't try to help me figure it out until I mentioned I couldn't find it. Then she said "oh I can look it up". I brushed it off and went about my day. I reached out later to provide them with additional information and they kept using abbreviated terms I didn't understand. Ultimately I cancelled my appointment. I just didn't feel they actually wanted to work with me from the very beginning which is so disheartening and disappointing. Doesn't help how I feel about dental visits in the first place. read more

I wouldn't recommend going here the staff doesn't understand how to check coverage before providing invoices. Apparently the office manager thinks its the customers responsibility to know what will be paid out for the services. As if that wasn't something I didnt already know. I went to get my teeth cleaned on my birthday and Lori was my dental hygienists... best experience ever. She has really good customer service and pays attention to your needs. I will going back and asking for her in 6 months. The receptionist are both really nice too. They even added $$ in the meter for me since my time had expired. That really made me smile and not worry about getting a ticket. The new doctor is easy on the eyes and above it all he cares and took time to explain to me what I need to do to correct the issues I am having with my teeth. 2 thumbs up!!! read more

Dr. Ballard is great! He's caring's and explains procedures with detail yet at a level I could understand (all that dental talk). I also LOVE Audra (dentals hygienist), I hope she sticks around for MANY more years because I don't know who will do our cleaning when she leaves. Let's not forget Daniel! He's friendly and always in a good mood. Audra (and this other dental hygienist who has since left ) and Daniel are the reasons I returned to this practice when it was first sold. I've been coming to Downtown Phoenix Dental for about 4 years now. I first found them when I was in need of a mid level cleaning, which was something between your standard cleaning and a deep cleaning. I called around, checked reviews and landed on Downtown Phoenix Dental due to their proximity to me, their high ratings online and their relatively low cash price, because at the time I didn't have dental coverage worth much more than a few dollars discount at a strip mall dental office. I've since picked up better dental coverage and now my insurance covers two cleanings per year. I keep coming back for cleanings, but really, I have not been seen by anyone here who has not been great and easy to work with, they always do such a great job with their cleaning and checkups. When it comes to dentists, I've got trust issues. Though probably not in the way you think. You see, I had exactly one dentist during the first 33 years of my life. That dentist was my grandfather. For 53 years, my grandfather John occupied the same dentist office with almost the exact same staff during that entire period. Jane, the dental hygienist I was assigned to at his office, took care of my teeth for 25 of those years. And when my grandfather finally retired 4 years ago, all but one of his staff members retired with him (we're talking 9 out of 10 employees in all). All of whom had been with him for 30 years or more. It says something pretty extraordinary about the man that his staff was as resolutely loyal as his clientele. A true family practice. So of course when it came time to finding a new dentist, I was a little worried. It turned out the one employee that hung on after my grandfather sold his practice was my hygienist Jane. I stuck with the new owner of the practice for a year until even Jane retired. After that, things started going downhill. Many of my grandfather's clients (as well as some of my extended family) were enraged at the new staff for shoddy work and charging them for unnecessary procedures. In fact I myself had been told to get fillings done three times in just a year under the new owner (despite my grandfather having never raised any red flags previously). So my first attempt at a new dentist clearly did not go well. So I began an exhaustive search to find a dentist reasonably close that I could count on. After countless hours reading reviews, medical ratings, publications, etc, I took a chance on Dr. Berschler. You'll find his practice on the south side of Monroe Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues in Downtown. While the practice doesn't exactly have much in the way of street presence, the inside made me feel right at home almost immediately. A friendly diverse staff, lots of eclectic artwork on the walls (fitting in very well with the Downtown arts scene), and of course attention to detail from Ben Berschler himself. I've been assigned to hygienist Audra Cox from the first day I walked in. She's taken wonderful care of me and my teeth, very much in the same way my previous long term hygienist Jane did. Unlike my previous dentist, Dr. Berschler has not spent a minute trying to sell me on expensive elective procedures and he's also sent me home with lots of free tooth brushes, tooth paste, floss, and mouthwash. If there's been any problem, Ben has taken the time to help me understand it and explain all of my options. I'd be lying if I said I trust Ben and Audra as much as Grandpa and Jane (family bias of course). But between Ben's 34 years of practice and Audra's 20+ years of hygienist experience, I feel like I've settled into a dental team that I can count on. And the fact they're conveniently located in Downtown is an even bigger plus (they also validate parking in the garage around the corner). So if you live downtown or even work downtown and need of someone to care of those pearly (or perhaps less than pearly) whites, take it from the grandson of a dentist. Ben and his staff are the real deal. Worthy of your smile. read more

Finally got dental insurance again after a spat of unemployment, so it was time to take care of my teeth. I consulted Yelp (of course) and thanks to Sean S. (who is the authority on all things downtown), I found this dental office within walking distance of work. I was not disappointed. My first visit and cleaning was the most pleasant visit to the dentist I've ever experienced. The staff was chatty and pleasant, Heather (the hygienist) did not render my mouth a masochist (compared to past experiences with other dentist's offices). And I got to marvel at their new-fangled dentistry equipment like their digital X-rays which were as quick and as comfortable as one could ever hope for. They even have a fancy UV wand that will take a picture of your molars and measure the depressions for possible cavities. This is better living through technology (or at least, makes for a much more comfortable experience in the dental chair)! I was scheduled for a return visit to replace an old silver filling that threatened to fall apart, taking the tooth with it. Dr. Berschler numbed me up perfectly, giving plenty of time for the novocaine to take hold while I was pampered with reading material and music through headphones. Work was done in a jiffy and I was back on my way. I did use the free valet parking once too. A simple matter of entering the building through the 2nd Avenue entrance, leaving your car with the attendant, and validating at Downtown Phx Dental's office. The directions on their website for how to find the office from the basement garage were appreciated. This is the face of modern dentistry and I am super-happy I found them through Yelp! read more

As an anxious dentist patient and a chronic dental cleaning avoider, Ive got to say I really love the atmosphere of this practice! The staff is really friendly, the appointments don't take long and I feel like I'm getting a very honest/conservative opinion on what my mouth needs are. I'm in, I'm out, and I'm not getting charged an arm! Bonus points for the mouthwash I got first thing- I always worry about bad breath going in. Have you ever gone to the dentist and they recommend 37 cavity fills, a retainer, quarterly cleanings and apparently you're a teeth grinder? Yea, me too! To have the dentist say things like "this doesn't seem to be a problem" and "let's watch this" was really refreshing! read more

IF YOU WANT A TRUE UNBIASED REVIEW READ THIS REVIEW. First, I rarely right reviews, so for me to take the time out of my day to write this is simply due to how amazing the experience and results were from DPD and Dr Ballard. Second, I never met Dr Ballard before I got my Halo method veneers. However, hands down Dr. Ballard's method is better than drilling your teeth down like normal veneers. But I want this review to more so focus on the personal and amazing experience I had with Dr. Ballard and Downtown Phoenix Dental. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted by everyone and was made to feel like part of the family. I have a crazy work schedule so taking time off during the week isn't a option. Well Dr Ballard came in on a Saturday to spend the whole day doing my HALO method veneers. Not only that halfway through the procedure him and his assistant stopped to take me and pay for my lunch at a very upscale sushi restaurant. Throughout the treatment he we talked the whole time about families, life, work, etc. (best i could talk with my mouth clamped open). Never once was in pain or uncomfortable. When everything was said and done I was in disbelief on how much Dr Ballard changed my teeth and my confidence. My teeth looked amazing. They looked so good but still looked real! (I personally don't like the veneer look where you can tell your teeth are fake). I cannot stress enough how much better and healthier it is doing his HALO method. To top it all off at the end of the treatment without ever meeting me before Dr Ballard offered to drive me home since my wife was stuck picking up our kids. Dr Ballard and his office went above and beyond to make this an amazing experience and make me look and feel amazing. If you go to any other dentist, you are missing out. read more

Well, I've done pretty well in finding some good spots in Phoenix after moving here from NC. First I found a good general doctor, then I found a great hair stylist, and now I appear to have done well on the dentist pick. I found Downtown Phoenix Dental because my office, when I choose to use it, is downtown. Walking to the office one day, I passed the dentist office's sign out by the corner. Good advertising! I checked out their Yelp reviews, which looked pretty good, and made an appointment. The office is rather hip and modern looking, kind of open. They file everything with your insurance company first, and then let you know if you have a balance of any kind to pay. If so, you can pay them online or in the office. They send you an email to confirm your appointment, and they've been really cool with me when I've needed to reschedule. Ask for Stephanie the dental hygienist!! She's awesome. read more

I love this dental practice. It is right downtown, but there is almost always parking right in front (at the meters) and apparently there is valet in the garage, though I have never had to use it. I've been going here for 3+ years and love Lori, the dental assistant who cleans my teeth. It's an open, modern concept and I've never been there for more than an hour...just teeth cleanings, no problems (fingers crossed). I appreciate that appointments can be scheduled via email or text and that their paperwork can be totally online. Great job, DPD! read more

I've been a patient for 5+ years after visiting 4-5 other dentists in Phoenix prior to Downtown Dental. This office is, by far, the best in Phoenix! The support staff is amazing, they were understanding during my reschedules due to covid concerns, they automate and remind you when you have appointments and they are unusually gentle with cleaning while very thorough. I was overdue for my last visit, I had a lot of staining and I couldn't believe they got them back to 100% clean! Also, they are very transparent on pricing while being professional and friendly. My wife, sister-in-law and mother-in-law are now all patients here and I highly recommend anyone interested in visiting here to give them a shot. I'd bet you will become a long term customer like myself as I cannot think of anything they need to do to improve in their entire operation. read more
