I had been a patient at Artistic Dental for close to a decade. All of the hygenists are friendly, professional and do great work (shoutout to Valerie!). Dr. A was friendly and personable each time I saw her for my checkup and she also installed my second crown. John P. Dougherty, D.D.S., MAGD installed my first crown and during thought it was appropriate to make a racist joke about my New Mexican upbringing when he saw my x-rays and I mentioned I was born without wisdom teeth. If you're wondering what he said to me and in front of the tech when my mouth was numb, wide open and filled with tools: "It must be from all that inbreeding in New Mexico." I've always been under the impression that jokes are supposed to be funny. If he has the gall to say this while operating on a numb patient I can only image what "jokes" he has said when patients aren't around. If you'd like to know even more about Dr. Dougherty's character, the staff once told me he buys and resells Cybertrucks as a hobby. While I'm not a comedian, that joke writes itself. I didn't feel great leaving that day (despite my tooth issue finally being fixed) and let whomever answered the phone that afternoon know what happened. I didn't hear back at all from anyone, though Dr. A. did apologize next time I was in after I told her. The crown John P. Dougherty, D.D.S., MAGD installed that day lasted about 6 months before cracking and needing to be replaced, which he did (Dr. A was unavailable). Cut to eight months later and the crown cracked again and I've found myself using a new dentist office because John P. Dougherty, D.D.S., MAGD is more focused on his comedy career than his dental profession, neither of which he's very good at. I've had no issues with the crown Dr. A installed. If you're at all on the fence about Artistic Dental I'd recommend looking elsewhere, though I can't offer any tips on avoiding douchebag dentists with subpar skills. Maybe check how many Cybertrucks are in the parking lot. read more

I have been coming to this location for several years now. After having experienced a lack of caring and treatment quality at a location in Tempe, I began going to Artistic Dental. The office staff are very friendly and helpful! The Doctors, and assistants are the best I have ever encountered. I have to give this place a one star review because I've been living with a faulty crown for the last eight years and they have never told me their work has been bad. It wasn't until I moved and joined another dental office that I found out that my crown was terrible. Dr Adakari put in a horrible crown that was causing my gums to be inflamed. It had a huge overhang I saw on the x-ray in my new dental office And my new dentist was shocked that this office let me go year by year with this crown. I had x-rays every year I was a patient of this office for eight years and I'm shocked at the crappy work they did and didn't own up to it. I ended up paying $2000 to replace the crown And the office has gone downhill since Dr. A has joined it. You don't go to a dental office because it's a pretty Dentist. Her work is terrible. I would give negative stars if available. I went to this dentist to have a chip in my front tooth fixed, a crown and a filling done. He broke my front tooth making it larger than the one next to it. He also did not finish filing the back of it down leaving it so I couldn't close my mouth properly. He literally just stood up and left and said come back in a week because he was frustrated and couldn't fix it properly. The filling fell out less than a year later and I have had pain every time I chew where he put the crown in. read more

I mean I KNOW that's not what matters because she went to school for years and is super smart and great at being a dentist but Dr. Adhikari is the prettiest dentist on earth so there's that. I have always hated going to the dentist but Dr. Adhikari was as good as it can get for the dentist and I was happy to go to her when I lived in AZ. She's so sweet and puts things in layman's terms for people like me that are not mega dental geniuses. Her staff is great and doesn't make me feel judged for being terrible at flossing. Based on the reviews, I decided to schedule a cleaning with Artistic Dental at the Biltmore and hopefully establish a file with them. I was able to schedule an appointment fairly quickly and the staff was very nice. First, I have a lot of x-rays done, which I have grown accustomed, every dentist do them on the first visit (...and every year after). My disappointment was on the up selling. Dr. Adhikari diagnosis was to re-do everything that has ever done in my mouth (root canal, crown, fillings, etc). The expensive procedures (root canal infection) could wait until next year, when my insurance resets (Emergency? no, convenient? i think so). Additionally, my teeth cleaning was split into two sessions for no apparent reason. Now, let me clarify - I didn't have a periodontal cleaning (which requires 2 sessions) I had a regular teeth cleaning (last one done in 7 months ago). When I asked about the reason, I was not given any good reason, but that she didn't finish the cleaning the first time. In other words, they get to charge my insurance twice for the teeth cleaning. Unfortunately, I am already distrustful about their service - so will continue searching for my go-to dentist. read more

I'm giving this place a 1star because today i called to reschedule my appointment. Mind you, i currently am sick so my voice is half way gone. I called and this lady answered & she literally sounded like she was under water & i can hear myself speaking like i was on speaker. I told her that it was hard to hear her because the way she was sounding was like she was under water, her reply was "no, i'm on the phone, what time is your appointment". Lady what!? She tried to have a smart mouth for what reason? that was really rude & unprofessional. I get it it's a monday morning, people aren't in the best moods but don't bring that attitude with you. Go to a different profession if you don't have phone etiquette for a doctors office. I hung up on her because i have no energy or patience while im sick with the flu. I called back and another lady answered and she was sweet & handled my call respectfully. I work in the medical field so coming from that professional setting, you need to be more friendlier than that, doesn't matter how bad of a day you're having. Artistic Dental has the worst office staff I have ever dealt with. They are rude and unprofessional and when it comes to the money part, staff here only is interested in what is good for them. The staff says what they want to the patient. Can hang up on a patient when the staff does not hear what they want. With no recourse from the Provider. After double checking with insurance this office refuses to straighten things out with the insurance and instead will make rude and derogatory remarks to the patient such as " we here at Artisic Dental will not be try to figure out insurance when it is the patients problem". This is outrageous and if Dr. A feels this is the way to do business I will end my relationship with this Dr. A. In as much the staff keep her from speaking to the patient so she really has no idea what is going on, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OFFICE unless you want to be insulted. on every level including sexuality and community. Which this staff, specifically Devon and Marcia and Mary have all done in the most serriptitious manner possible. read more

I have been a patient at Artistic ever since 2016, I continuously go back because the area was convenient, the office is clean, and the technology/equipment they use is top notch. I've had problems with my teeth for quite a long time now and I get them fixed at Artistic and it always efficient. However, the fact that I have problem-prone teeth causes Dr. A and her assistants as well as the dental hygienists to make incessant negative and mean comments about my teeth. It is really hurtful because I'm self conscious of my teeth and I actually do try to prevent any issues with my oral health (flossing, fluoride wash, brushing properly, cleanings, etc). It is deeply upsetting that I feel bullied at the place I'm trying to get help at. Unfortunately I won't be coming back after the negative experience today. I cried in the car after my appointment because of how upset I was. I'm sure I won't be missed because clearly Artistic Dental has so many loyal patients-- according to all of the positive reviews on here. Those positive reviews must come from people with flawless teeth--good on you. Dr. A is certainly brilliant but that means nothing if she isn't kind to her loyal patients. But to Dr. A, all of the assistants, and the administrative ladies that have done work on me over the years/conduct billing business, from now on please think before you make comments to the patients and even behind their backs (I have heard your comments behind my back), you never know what your patient is going through and the struggles they have because of their teeth. read more

We were referred to Dr Dougherty & Dr Adhikari by my brother & sister in law 5 years ago and their staff are all top notch. But if you choose not to have dental insurance they penalize you by charging 25% more even if you are an established patient. Specifically if you have a crown with insurance is $1295. Without insurance is $1600.+ I've worked in the insurance business for over 20 years & I don't condone this business practice. I suggest you shop around, many great dentists in this city. read more

I think everyone expects dental appointments to be awful. I've been here three times now after some time away from the dentist. They didn't judge me for not having been in for a couple of years. I had a cleaning, two cavities filled, and now they are re-doing a crown (someone else's shoddy work). I have a had a wonderful experience each appointment. I keep waiting for something to happen to change my opinion of how awesome they are; it seems too good to be true, but they are the real deal. Every appointment has been on time. The office has a good vibe. Everyone is very helpful, friendly, and nice. Techs are lovely. Dr. Adhikari is amazing. I'd want to be friends with her if she wasn't my dentist. I have a terrible schedule and they always work around it. The prices are not super expensive and they are clear up front about the costs. I absolutely recommend this office. read more

I'm probably not a dentist or dental hygienists' dream. I tend to not keep up with regular appointments and I'm ridiculously nervous in any area of the dentist office. This has been my M.O. my whole life. But my few experiences at Artistic Dental may have changed that for me. Here's a few areas worth noting. The office. Artist Dental has a beautiful office located in the Camelback Corridor area. They provide a very relaxed, homey feel to their waiting area, where you have a choice of chilled bottled waters, keurig coffees and teas and various snacks. I don't imagine anyone who was about to see the dentist take up any of these offers but it's nice to the have the option while waiting for someone else or as you're headed out of the office. Additionally, they provide views from each dentist chair (not sure what they are called) so you can see the sky and the beautiful church across the street. They also have water features and lots of greenery to help soothe the nerves. :) Staff. The staff is really remarkable. They provide wonderful customer service and professionalism. They certainly make you feel like they care about you and make you feel comfortable and let's face it, no one feels comfortable at the dentist office. Mary M. (dental hygienist), is one of the most kind, gentle and pleasant people I've been around. She does an excellent job and shows remarkable patience for squirmy patients like me. I've recently had the pleasure of working with Dr. Adhikari. She has greatly helped with my fear of being in the dentist chair. She's caring, patient and extremely funny which only makes the process that much easier. I recently had to have a partial on my back molar and she made the process feel like a cake walk. She explained all the steps, took a conservative approach and and established a relationship with me which made me feel at ease. Because of Dr. Adhikari, I'm now brave enough to move forward with a dental issue I've been putting on the back burner for years. Britni (Dental Assistant), was also a great pleasure to work with. She is extremely professional but in a kind and gentle way. Additional, the office allows for fraidy cats like me to listen to music while having any work done, rather it's a cleaning or something like a crown and cozy up in their plush blankets to help relax the nerves. :) The office of Artist Dental is a top notch office and I would highly recommend it as your dentist office too. read more

Let me start this review by saying that up until last week, I had not seen a dentist for a solid four years. My coworker overheard me attempting to schedule an appointment with another dentist office within our network of health insurance coverage, and could see how frustrated I was getting with the several months waiting list to get in. He told me he had recently gone to Artistic Dental (which happens to be just a couple blocks away from where I work) and he loved it, so I decided to give them a call. They were able to get me in THAT DAY! I was thrilled, since once I had committed to going in and starting routine check ups again I was ready to get it done right away. I don't think there are many people who absolutely love going to the dentist, but in terms of experience this place is the very best! The inside of the office is so cute and homey, it really makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. They have snacks available, the staff is super friendly, and I am amazed at how fast I was gotten in (virtually no waiting either time I went in!), and I loved the dental hygienist who took my x-rays and cleaned my teeth. They did find four surface cavities (big surprise for not having been into the dentist for years haha), and they were able to schedule me for Monday of this week to get them all filled. I was really nervous about getting the teeth filled since I, admittedly, don't have the highest pain tolerance, but WOW. They have a new state of the art laser that makes the process of getting cavities filled SO much easier than the first (and luckily only) other cavity I had filled years ago. It is quick, easy, and painless. I am so happy with the work that was done and so glad I had Dr. Dougherty and another awesome dental assistant there to talk me through everything. FIVE STARS for Artistic Dental! I would (and already have started to) recommend this place to anyone looking for dental work or a regular dental office to get cleanings at. read more

My root canal last week was, by far, one of the best experiences of my life. Here are the details: 1) I arrived in the office 20 minutes early, they took me almost right away. 2) The staff (and then Dr A) sat through my long story / excuses on how my tooth got into the state it was in. They listened carefully and there was no 'tooth shaming'. Trust me, there was call for. 3) They performed the root canal in less than 45 minutes. 4) The procedure was almost comically pain free. 5) My whole mouth / tooth structure is weird (probably due to my grandparents being first cousins). They expertly worked around my genetic defects. 6) The whole procedure came in a little under the budget they estimated me over the phone. The whole crew at Artistic Dental is great. BTW, AD has very little staff turnover. That says a lot I think about how they run their practice. read more

They may have cured my lifetime fear of dentists! Let's just say....that I have been known to go up to 7 years without seeing a dentist....this year it had been 4-5 years. I kept paying in on my dental insurance & decided I had better find myself a new dentist and get my pearly whites cleaned and checked. This location is very easy to get to! The staff is great, scheduling was easy. Tevona cleaned my teeth and took xrays and she was so sweet and understanding of my fears. Dr Dougherty must be the most chill dentist-ever.....! I indicated I was interested in teeth whitening & they were able to do my impressions the same day and I picked up my kit the very next day, explaining exactly how to use it! I even got a follow-up thank you card in the mail! Going to the dentist will never be my favorite thing but Artistic Dental makes it a lot easier to keep my smile healthy & beautiful! read more

I have been coming to see Dr. Adhikari for about a year now. I was referred to her by a coworker when I was having troubles with previous dental work that had been completed somewhere else. The day I went to see her I was in tears in pain. She was very caring and as gentle as she could be. She took a conservative approach to fixing the issue. After a few visits, everything was fixed! No more pain! I now visit for my regular checkups. I have seen both Dr. A and Dr. Dougherty and I highly recommend both of them. read more

I found Artistic Dental on Yelp last year and I'm so glad I did! The office is beautiful. There is a fountain outside of every room I've been in (and with all my dental work over the last year, I'm pretty sure I've sat in every room) and scenic artwork above every seat so you don't have to worry about where to look when someone has their fingers in your mouth. They've been so accommodating and relatable, I love coming in and seeing what conversations we're going to have. I've mostly seen Dr Adhikari, and she's amazing. I had a really bad broken tooth and she was so calm during the exam and filling process it put me at ease. The most valuable trait in a doctor. I just saw Dr. Dougherty briefly this last time for a check up, and while our conversation was brief (Dr Adhikari had done so much great work the year before!) we talked about sharks, and who wouldn't want to talk about sharks? I've been a patient of Dr. Dougherty for longer than I care to admit ;-) He's a wonderful person (as are all the staff) and makes going to the dentist like visiting a friend. The staff are incredibly accommodating, the waiting room so comfortable, and the view from the treatment rooms amazing. I've sent a number of people to Artistic and all have come back with the same sense of people that really care about your well-being. If you're considering going to one of those "dentistry mills" because you might think you'll save some money? Been there, done that and believe me, it was no deal. Give Drs.
