It's been a few months since my case settled but looking back, I have misgivings about my experience with McGee, Lerer & Associates. My advice to anyone reading is to max out your full coverage for your insurance. Also - don't sign the retainer until you've really shopped around. You can sit on it for a few days to compare others. If I had lost a limb they would have fought harder for me but instead I gave paid them an arm and a leg for bad representation. Also - ask for a lawyer to handle your case. Not a case worker. 2 days before Christmas I was hit head on by a drunk driver. I was banged up, contused rib, burns on my arms from the airbags. My car, which was paid off, was deemed a total loss after the accident. The front end was taken clear off. Upon my initial consultation with McGee, Lerer, I was very adamant about what kind of pain/suffering I was seeking. A new car + car payment, loss of work, inconvenience, loss of use, extreme pain (I went to the hospital twice in three days) I haven't had any sort of accidents in over 15 years. I had okay insurance for myself. But with my bruised ribs I was sent to a chiropractor so I could... lay on my bruised ribs and have my back adjusted? My ribs took 10 weeks to feel back to normal. This is a normal process when you're in an accident but I was very vocal about the pain I was in. I was being milked for the max payout from my own insurance even though I couldn't benefit from the chiropractor. Today - 9 months after the accident, I have agonizing back pain. This is something I mentioned when I first spoke with McGee. "If I settle within two months after my accident, and have issues in a year what can I do?" I said I wanted medical to be considered and apparently it was beyond Fima's scope. They treated me like I was sub par for the type of insurance I had. I wasn't worth their fight since I didn't have max pay out. I'm paying for it now and wish I would have gone with another Law Firm. I was given a case worker to manage my lawsuit who, on more than one occasion, audibly had her hands full with children during our phone calls. After the accident my insurance company offered me the bare minimun for my injuries and the physical therapy I would need to heal.
