After being rearended at a stoplight early last year, I've been dealing with a myriad of health issues related to the accident that upended my normal life. Yet, despite it being a no-fault accident on my end, I continued to be hounded by the other driver's insurance to submit my (still ongoing) medical bills so that they could close my case, often withholding the detail that I legally had much more time to submit them. As I entered my 5th month of rehabilitation (and calls from them), I asked my aunt (a paralegal) if she trusted anyone to take my case and she referred me to McGee and Lerer. It was the right call. Their team (shoutout to Lorena especially!) handled almost everything on my case (aside from a few medical records that I said I could get) and it allowed me to focus on my life and stop getting frequent calls from this other insurance company. They said that it could take up to a year but probably sooner to get a settlement and case closed. But to my surprise, I got to learn in November (3 months!!!) that all was settled and done. I'm still recovering, but the settlement has allowed me to not worry so much about affording my ongoing care and just focus on getting back to 100. After having experienced two flakey attorney's prior, it was refreshing to speak with an attorney who personally answered the phone (when she was out of the office) and took over a half hour asking detailed questions and offering stellar hands-on advise. Since my case was comparatively small (no broken bones), she suggested I consider taking on the case myself, and if I wasn't satisfied with the final settlement offer from the insurance company, to then hire an attorney.
