Our group was just the right size as we were not on a full boat. We saw plenty of wildlife as our guild pointed out everything. He was knowledgeable about the area, plant life, wildlife. Creeping through tranquil inlets & speeding down a maze of channels. We explored crawfish nets (I snatched one out of the trap for further inspection), we took a plethora of breath taking photos (now posted on Facebook), braced ourselves as we raced through dense thick floating vegetation yet sailed right through like it wasn't there (our guide "Albert" reveled in the expected surprised looks on our faces). He sped us in circles to agitate the carp just below the surface causing them to leap out of the water for our entertainment. We got a brief glimpse of a gator just before he ducked down into the water. In addition to this memorable experience the guide was extremely knowledgeable regarding to the entire ecosystem. If I could leave 0 stars I would! If you don't get anything else from this review, please note that if you have a 5 year old that is not quite 48" tall you will be refused on a previously paid for airboat tour! Now if they had that posted literally anywhere, that would be one thing, but they don't!! Not only do they not have any kind of restrictions posted anywhere, they go ahead and let you know the cost of bringing children from age 0-12...just printing that in itself says to me, if you have a cost for a child 0-12 then that child will be allowed to actually go on the tour!? So after driving from Lafayette specifically for this tour, (mind you the 2 children had come in from North Louisiana to do this!!) upon arrival we were casually told "well he looks a little shy of tall enough"...then after arguing that no one(and no where on the website) ever said anything about any kind of height restrictions, the older man (possibly the tour driver) that was in the office decided that scare tactics would be the next best tactic!! In front of a 5 an 8 year old he thought it was appropriate to tell us that one time they let a child ride that was under 48" inches and "he couldn't breathe because of the air from going fast on the airboat and almost died"....WHAT!? And then also said that "since the water was so low they could hit a stump and the child could just pop right out of the boat"....ummm if you can't navigate the swamps to keep people inside your boat then maybe it's time to get another job!!! It is fine to have company policies...but they don't get to just live inside your head for you to use at your discretion! They must be posted, in multiple locations (you have multiple tours and on each one it only gives a cost for children, no restrictions!) and probably best to make people click a box during the reservation process to make sure the information has been received. The only thing they did right was suggest we go down the road to their competition Basin's Landing, which turned out to be the best thing that could have happened! Not only were they super nice and accommodating, they literally said "we have no idea why they have that kind of "rule" in reference to Mcgee's "height restrictions"...which also says to me this has clearly happened before! We then had an amazing airboat experience at Basin's Landing! So, McGee's, if you're not interested in running a legit business and are just going to make up rules and send people to your competitors anyway, why not do everyone a favor and just close your doors! read more

Awesome!! My husband and I booked a McGee Swamp Tour on their Katherine Grace boat. Our guide was humorous, extremely knowledgeable, and obviously passionate about the education in and the preservation of this beautiful place that he has called home his entire life. The scenery was gorgeous, and in addition to the various bird-life we saw, we were also lucky enough to see two alligators! They were absolutely beautiful! One even had a name: PeeWee! My husband and I give McGee's 5 stars. It was educational and entertaining. So much fun!! read more

Best tour we've been on by far. our captain was very knowledgeable and entertaining. He definitely made the trip fun. made it a priority to see and feed the gators. He also involved our kids and others on the boat by letting them join in on the fun. He got us up close and personal with Louisiana wildlife. Would definitely recommend!! read more
