I belong to a private group on Facebook. My group provides recommendations regarding lawn service, dental offices and so forth. Several members of the group raved about the excellent services provided at mcgonigle dental associates. I was looking for a dental office closer to my home. Seeing that the office is 10 min from my home is a bonus! I read reviews literally for just about everything lol. The reviews on Google, Yelp and social media for this office is outstanding! I decided to give them a call and make an appointment. The lady on the phone was very kind and friendly. On the day of my appointment, I was blown away with how swanky this dental office is. The decor is beautiful, clean and the complimentary water, tea, fancy coffee they offer is thoughtful. Gina, was my hygienist and I had the pleasure of meeting Doctor Mcgonigle. Gina is warm, funny and is very personable! She made my visit a delight Doctor Mcgongile is so cool and his bedside manners is excellent. I was so impressed with my visit that I told my husband and family they should stop seeing their dentist and come to Mcgonigle dental associates My husband has a fear of needles and had an terrible experience at a previous dental office. I remember sharing this with Gina and Dr. Mcgonigle and they assured they would be gentle with my husband. Fast forward to one month ago, my husband made an appointment for a cleaning as well as for a root canal. He said, the doctor was super friendly-they even struck a conversation about cars. (My husband is a car enthusiast) most importantly, my husband was not afraid of the treatment/procedure. He looks forward to his dental visits and that's because of the outstanding service he received at mcgonigle dental associates. Fast forward to my 2nd appointment for my six month cleaning and fillings. Hygenist, Gina greeted me and remembered me. She even asked about my son (great memory) which was really sweet. Once my cleaning was finished, I was greeted by Lisa E who assisted the doctor (I think her name is ashley) with my fillings. Lisa is super sweet, warm and has a good sense of humor. I don't like needles and she helped eased my anxiousness by assuring me everything will be fine and if I needed to take a break then, let her know. She let me pick out a movie to watch while I had my fillings replaced. I chose father of the bride (love that movie) my dentist, Ashley is kind, personable and down to earth. I have two flexible spending cards, and I needed to split the payment on 2 cards for today's visit. Front desk personnel, Alyssa, was able to put the invoices on the receipt so that I can properly submit the invoice to my FSA providers. She too, was very helpful and friendly! While I do love my dentist at McGonigle the office procedures are terrible! i am in the middle of my treatment plan and I used up my deductible at United Healthcare, and even though McGonigle also has a contract with United Healthcare, they told me I would have to pay the full amount of service and I will NOT get the discounted rate I get through United Healthcare! I have used McGonigle Dental for years and this is absolutely awful customer service and they do NOT care about their patients! read more

Quick to send to collections. Once in collections, they refuse to deal with you so I call collections and it is more than double the original bill (looks like a double charge). Collections stands by the charges without documentation backing it up. I try calling McGonigle and no call back so far. We were there for an xray and basically a referral for my daughter because they couldn't do the wisdom teeth extractions. It looks to be a very expensive referral for basically no work done. read more

My dental anxiety is GONE at this office. to start... THE SMELL!!! It doesn't smell like nasty latex gloves, it's welcoming and homey. The staff is friendly and they are great at confirmations. They have fit me in many times. The cleaning is quick and painless (I'm a big baby) I've have many procedures done here and I have been happy with all of them. They offer many things to keep you comfortable including chapstick and a movie while you are laying back in the chair. read more

The staff is friendly but I had a real problem with the financial end of my procedure. After they talk to my insurance company, I was told by staff that my out of pocket balance would be $1,200. which I paid. After the procedure was all done I get a bill in the mail for an additional $1,100. I called to find out that they had made a mistake with my estimated out of pocket expense and they still want me to pay for their mistake. read more

Dr. Phil took me in as an emergency and he and his team were extremely adherent to stringent policies during this time. But more importantly, he fixed the problem. I am a tough person to please and very rarely to I write on YELP but this practice does such a nice job I felt compelled to leave some feedback. I actually left the practice for a few years as I moved farther away and boy did I regret that. I have been back now for a while and the level of care and professionalism this practice has for their clients is second to none. From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted with a friendly face to the time you leave and everything is explained to you, they actually make going to the dentist a pleasurable experience. They are always willing to get you in same day if there is a rush issue and do a great job. I will say I have been to "cheaper" dentists in terms of cost, but I also think I have gotten what I paid for. I don't like to mess around with my teeth and if I have to pay a hair more for great service and great work I am ok with that. I would (and have) recommend this practice to many others. read more

I have gone to a lot of dentist in my time and Dr. Kristina is one of the most genuine, caring and dedicated dentists I have met. I have recently gone to her for a dental implant. I was super nervous but she makes you feel super comfortable and checks on your well being as if you were in her home. In addition, Dr. Kristina is just as knowledgeable and talented as she is nice and welcoming. Her staff is super attentive and has the same compassion as she does. I've been going here for a couple years now and always had my suspicions that they claim I have more cavities than I actually do. This most recent time they claimed I had five cavities (one old filling that needed replacing, two teeth that had deep depressions and two actual cavities) I wasn't sure they were being honest with me as my teeth are well taken care of, brush 2x/day and floss 1x/day and mouth wash. I finally decided to take my business elsewhere and took my X-rays to Crossroads Dental in Tinley Park. My suspicions were confirmed and I do not have any cavities. I do have two teeth that may become cavities in the future (5-7 years) but she said its nothing to worry about just keep good hygiene to prolong and she doesn't like to drill into teeth that don't need it. Overall, this dentistry is NOT HONEST and are in the business of purely making money. I will never return. read more

Lately, I have been very disappointed with the lack of customer service at most establishments. I can't understand why managers employ people that have no people skills and then put them in positions that deal directly with customers. So when I visited the McGonigle Dental offices, I wasn't expecting too much. Boy was I surprised! I just moved to Tinley Park and was not a patient of McGonigle . I received a flyer from them welcoming me to Tinley Park. So on Friday night when one of my front crowns fell off, I decided to give McGonigle a try on Monday morning to see if they could help me. Remember, I am not a patient, I have no appointment and I just walked in to their offices at 8 AM on Monday morning. I was greeted by a very friendly and smiling Kelly, and she quickly went to the back and asked if they could help me. I filled out some paperwork and in minutes I was greeted by another friendly and smiling young lady named Renée. She gave me a quick tour of the offices and promptly got me into an office. Now I am overwhelmed! First of all, because they are taking care of my problem without an appointment and without being a patient. And secondly because I'm being treated like a king. As if all this is not enough, Dr. Christina comes in and introduces herself with a huge smile and handshake. Within minutes, she explained what she could do for me temporarily and three options for me to decide on a permanent solution. Even the lady who checked me out was wonderful. I must say, that McGonigle Dentists have restored my faith in people who are doing exactly what they should be doing - dealing with people. I'm sure it goes without saying, that I found the dentist that I will continue to use. A huge thank you to the entire staff for a wonderful experience. read more

I went to McGonigle for the first time this evening at the recommendation of my brother, who's family has been going there for years. First impression? Super friendly desk staff and the most immaculate and well appointed lobby I've ever seen. When I was taken back to the treatment room, I was given a full tour of their offices including where their crowns are made--onsite--same day. Insulated lunch bag with their office/contact information silkscreened containing several items I can definitely use. They were more than helpful and reviewed billing (insurance) before I left. Best part, I went in for my consult today (12/17) and I'm already scheduled for my crown on 12/30. They specifically did this do I could use my remaining FSA dollars before year end 2014. My wife's family has been going here for over 30 years, I have been for over 15 years now. We will never return to this place!!! Dr Ed retires and the place turns to garbage. The business has taken over from caring and working with patients that are going through a hardship. Especially when someone is in pain. Money is the new priority not caring for 30 year patients who have been loyal to them. Dr Ed would be ashamed with what is happening to his practice. I really hope some people read this and look for another practice to take there families to. They refused payments for a root canal needed for my wife. we needed to pay in full prior to any service provided. The topper is they had the wrong tooth for the root canal needed. read more

Super comfortable atmosphere- and this comes from somebody who has avoided going to the dentist all my life! Everybody is very friendly and always accommodating. I live far from McGonigle, but I come back all the way from the city because I trust this place! I came in for a checkup and instead of having to come back for my cavity filling- they readjusted the schedule and got me on right away. I came in for the free consultation and Dr. Kristina was amazing! She was very honest with me about what I need to have done and was willing to offer me a few free X-rays which is so generous. I ended up deciding to switch from my previous dentist to work with Dr. Kristina because she was truthful about what I really need, unlike my other dentist who was trying to scam me into doing 4 more cavity fillings than I actually needed. I have been seeing Dr. Rob for over 15 years, I have absolutely no complaints about the service they provide, every one is friendly and the environment is very clean. My complaint is about how they grossly overcharge the for services they provide. Over the past 4-5 years I have thought they were priced on the high end but never did actual research until this past week. I went in for a Root Canal last Monday and when I called for the appointment I asked how much it was going to cost and was told, "Well it depends on which tooth" to which my response was the same tooth he put a crown on a couple months back. Her response was still, " I am sorry but I don't know, they have to look at it" so being a patient for so long I decided to trust that I would pay a fair amount maybe a little on the high end for this service. When I arrived I again asked the assistant after the tooth was looked and the decision of needing the Root Canal was made, she said she would let me know how much it was going to cost. Shame on me for not insisting on knowing because Dr. Rob came in and started, once I was done I was told it was $1422.00. I was so shocked that I went home and made a face book post asking my friends what they have been charged for root canals, everyone stated between $700.00 and $900.00. So I decided to dig further and called a total of 10 YES 10 general dentists in the area to gather pricing on a root canal for tooth #14. Dr. Rob is a general Dentist not a specialist so I called general dentists in the area to find none of them charged over $900.00. In fact, I even called an Endodontist office who stated they charge $888.00 for a root canal on tooth # 14. When I brought this to the offices attention they stood firm that their pricing was fair and based on average charges in the area that were collected from insurance companies. Now, from the time I walked in the door to the time I left I was in the office a total of 1 hour and 40 minutes, which means Dr. Rob is charging over 700.00 an hour and I know for a fact that Medical Physicians that save peoples lives DO NOT make $700.00 an hour. I did get a call from Dr. Rob and I expressed to him how I felt and it seemed to me that me being his patient for over 15 years was not relevant but that he stood firm on his pricing being accurate for the area. He did state that he review what I was billed and I was over charged by $90.00 which he credited back to me. What if I hadn't called? I would of lost that $90.00?? I wasn't sure if I should post this at all but after a week of contemplating this I decided to post this for the following reasons. Pricing and charges should not be secretive, patients should be told what the cost is before the procedure is started and should not have to ask more than once. Pricing should also be reasonable. As someone who gets super anxious at the dentist this office is fairly comfortable. This remained consistent throughout my entire visit. Not only do they provide outstanding customer service ( complete with welcome gift bag), all of their equipment is clean and up to date. The options for comfort provided to patients ( blankets, pillows, noise cancelling headphones, etc) are merely one example of how this company goes above and beyond to ensure you have a positive experience. First appointment and it was an emergency as I broke a tooth. When you walk into the office you forget you are at the dentist because if feels like a spa. The staff was very pleasant and professional from beginning to end. The part I appreciated most was after x-rays and exam and before work was even started they thoroughly explained what my insurance covers and how much would be out of my pocket. Dr. Rob was very nice and got to work on my tooth...from the time I walked in to the time I walked out with a full root canal was 2.5 hours. Last dentist I could spend that in his office for a cleaning and check up. The office was immaculate not even one thing out of place. I knew I needed to find a new dentist and never thought I would find the right one in an emergency situation. I went to this dentist w my son last week, they told me I had 5 cavities and my son had 8 cavities. This was very odd to me, seeing that I saw our previous dentist 8-9 months ago, my son had No cavities and I had 1. Before I left they told me I would have to pay $2,000 upfront before the work would be done. This whole scenario seemed fishy, so I went for a 2nd opinion. I am so happy I did, My son has NO cavities, and I had 1, and that was filled that day!!! I'd been searching for a new dentist for awhile and I ran across McGonigle Dental Associates through online searches. They got great reviews, like the ones here on Yelp, but everyone can have a different experience with a dentist. Some can have a great experience, while others have a horrible one. I had a dental abscess and I needed immediate treatment. Every dentist I called in a 5 mile radius either had no appointments for a week or more, the office workers demanded to know every detail about whether or not I actually have dental insurance (and I do) before they'd even consider telling me whether or not I could get an appointment, or they charged outrageous fees just to see the dentist (this fee was in additional to the charge for the actual work done and had to be paid up front!). While browsing Yelp and other ratings websites I ran across McGonigle and I decided to look them up. Right away I was impressed just with their website. I've NEVER seen a dentist claim that if you're in pain and you call them before 9am they promise to get you in to see a dentist that day! I called for an appointment and the office staff couldn't have been nicer. They lived up to the same day service claim as Karen offered me an appointment that day since I called before 9, but I was at work. She quickly gave me an appointment for the next day. She invited me to download the paperwork available on their website so things would move along smoothly the day of my appointment. I was scheduled for a 1pm appointment the following day, but Karen came through again and called me up to let me know I could come in at 12 noon if I was available. I hightailed it over there with my completed paperwork. The entire staff from the doctor to his assistants and all the staff couldn't have been nicer and more attentive. They had hot coffee and bottled water available while you wait, but I didn't have to wait long. They took fast X-Rays, diagnosed my problems and set up a game plan for my situation, all while keeping my well informed at every stage. Before the work began, a staff member approached me with a breakdown of the total cost that would be billed to my insurance, as well as my out the door charges. Mind you, this was before the work began which I appreciated! That way if the costs were too much, you could always say no thank you and walk away. I was so pleased with the reasonable prices! To top it all off, the treatment took under an hour, it was seriously painless and I was given proper prescriptions to help with the pain an any infection! When I was finished, the assistant gave me all the instructions I need for proper home care and I paid my small fee for services rendered. I even got a free gift bag filled with goodies for being a first time customer. I got a free lunch tote (I really needed one!), free Colgate toothpaste, free bag clip and lip balm. HOW COOL IS THAT???? Everyone thanked me numerous times for coming in and the next day the dental assistant called me to see how I was doing! Seriously, they are the nicest, most professional dental office I've ever been in. It's nice to go somewhere where everyone seems to enjoy their work, everyone gets along and the customers are treated well. THIS IS MY NEW DENTIST!
