I bought a car less than three weeks ago and I drove it down south and found out the air didn't work. It's still under the dealer warranty and so I took it in. They cannot fix it cause it's too cold so they told me to come back with a warm and they would make a note of it so it was still covered under warranty. MELISSA VONG basically said F U. If we can't fix it now you're gonna pay for it yourself even though it's not my fault because it's too cold and told me i'd have to buy the extended warranty. The service people even said that they don't think that's fair to me because I brought it in within the warranty period. I had a very frustrating experience with McGrath Buick GMC Cadillac in Cedar Rapids, IA. I found a Nissan 350Z listed at their Cedar Rapids location and placed an online hold that was advertised as being good for 24 hours. I live about an hour and a half away, so I went to the McGrath dealership in Davenport instead. A salesman there told me he would handle everything and have the car brought down to Davenport for me. After that, I received a call from Russ Beltz at the Cedar Rapids location. I informed him that a Davenport salesman was already assisting me with the purchase. At this point, two salespeople and one manager were aware that I fully intended to buy this vehicle. I was told the car could be brought to Davenport the same day, which never happened. Later, I received a message from Russ Beltz stating that the vehicle had been sold -- despite knowing I was actively trying to purchase it and had been told it was being transferred for me. The lack of communication and follow-through was extremely disappointing, and it felt very unprofessional given the assurances I was given. Overall, this experience wasted my time and left me with no trust in their sales process. I would not recommend this dealership if you expect honesty, coordination between locations, or respect as a serious buyer. read more

Don't do business with these crooks. After many lies, cheats, and ghosting, they have robbed me of 10's of thousands of dollars. They are crooks, and will steal your money, beware!!! My vehicle, sold by them, unfortunately needed an engine replace under 100k miles. I brought it back in at ~160k miles, I was told it needed ANOTHER engine replace - $9K, several months to finish, I was told they would not loan me a car during the repair period, and I was ushered to their sales department to buy another vehicle. Between the fact that they were going to give me next to nothing on trade in (the one thing I don't fault them with given its state) and the fact that it was going to take "months" to replace the engine, I decided to buy new and repair the vehicle so I could sell it on my own for far more than they wanted to give me. Days later, they shockingly "finished" the repair. I picked it up to the tune of $12k when I was quoted $9k, only to discover the transmission was shot and it was going to be thousands more in repair costs. I complained to the shop manager who agreed I was overcharged but then proceeded to ghost me. Never again will I do business with any of the McGrath crooks. I would rather drive to Alaska and buy another vehicle than do business with these clowns. read more

Bought two trucks from them, this last one, I can't get it registered because they don't know where the title is. I've called so many times to be sent to an answering machine and not called back. Yesterday I called again and I was actually sent to a person. I was told the title is in Springfield. I called SOS Police who checked on the title and it's not in Illinois. I had been looking for an Escalade ESV V for several months before I was fortunate enough to make a connection with Alex Smith at McGrath in Cedar Rapids, IA. They had what I thought could be the perfect V for me, but on the surface, it had a potential challenge in that the CarFax reported Moderate damage. After some back and forth regarding the vehicle and the damage, Alex took it upon himself to contact the original owner (as it was first sold by McGrath), gathered all the details including a copious repair report from the body shop. With this report in hand, I was ready to negotiate a deal on the V. Alex and I had several conversations about price, warranty and my trepidation about any long-term issues with the repairs done to the vehicle, and how I was going to have it delivered from Cedar Rapids, to Southern California. To complicate matters, I was leaving for Europe and I only had a short window in which to receive the V. Alex jumped into high-gear, with respect to assisting me with coordinating with a body shop in Southern California (as they have a National presence), negotiating a fair price and he got the car to me on a trailer before I left on my trip. I must say, I have purchased many cars from out-of-state over the years from reputable dealerships, but my experience with Alex and McGrath was, by far, the best one. And I say that with all due candor--I was beyond impressed! If you are looking to purchase a vehicle, particularly from outside Iowa, I would look no further than Mr. Alex Smith. Hello my peeps! Here's my question. A year ago I bought a 2014 buick enclave from mcgrath. They advertise a 160 point inspection on their used cars. Many people warned me not to buy used from McGrath, buy used from cassill motor, but like a dummy I bought from mcgrath. Bought "As is" with in 1 month had to have it towed ...long story short...this vehicle (which I paid way too much) come to find out has: transmission failure, A/C failure, tire stem failure, fuse connection failure just to name a few. My mechanic suggested these issued should have shown up on the 160 point inspection. I have reached out to mcgrath with no response. Due to my vulnerability at the time of purchase, I feel I was taken advantage of. I thought I was buying a vehicle that would last a while since I'm on a fixed income. I am now stuck with a vehicle worth nothing and almost ready to fail completely. My question is, even though I bought it "as is" don't you think mcgrath should have divulged this information? read more

Tyler Feldmann at Chevy Used Car Super Store helped me immensely to find the right car for my granddaughter who is attending college in another state. We had all her "desires" noted and he located one immediately. He went through all the features of vehicle-explaining them thoroughly and carefully to me-as I would have to share the information to her when she flies in to pick up the car. He was patient with my questions and even spent time detailing it so I could get to another appointment on time. Tyler handed me off to JD Voss in the Finance Department who presented and reviewed with me all the documents needed to purchase the vehicle. Again, a very thorough job of explaining every document (which seemed more like a book) and had the patience of a saint as I asked my questions. Purchasing the vehicle for someone who lives in another state was so painless after I initially had reservations in doing so to be certain I took care of all the requests communicated to me by my granddaughter. The mechanics are worthless. Check your oil as you leave the lot. Mcgrath says they changed oil before a vehicle leaves the lot. I found this not to be true mainly because I had 1 quart of oil in the engine. No leaks. Just no maintenance within mcgrath. read more

I bought a 21 traverse new from McGrath, had it regularly serviced only through McGrath. Recently my check engine light came on, my app said 'emission systems' but I didn't notice any issues, so I made an appt with the McGrath service dept and it has been nothing but issues since. 2 of the service visits, I was called and told they had parts and to bring it in, waited hours, only to be told they didn't have the parts. Then after another visit for THE SAME ISSUE, they said they fixed the original problem, but now my vehicle sounds like my Muffler fell off and I'm driving a weed whacker/lawn mower around! It's like I go in to get a problem fixed and drive out with something worse! Thank God it's under warranty. read more

I frequently use McGrath Chevyland for all needs with my car. I used to drive a 2013 Chevy Spark and they worked on it quite a bit. Oil changes pricing are reasonable if you buy a 3-pack but all other work I had done to my car was fairly expensive but was guaranteed work. I recently purchased from McGrath Chevyland a 2019 Chevy Spark. Two gentleman, Scott and Shawn, both helped me with my purchase and I am very grateful for their assistance and for their patience with all of my questions. I now have warranty on my car for awhile and plan to return to McGrath Chevyland in the future for my Chevy car needs. Overall, great experience! read more

I have valid reason to feel completely and utterly disgusted with how I was treated as a customer at Pat McGrath Chevy land In Cedar Rapids, Iowa. That being said There is plenty of room for improvement! I Really hope you don't treat other customers this way. Keeping this short, I Took my work truck, 2005 Silverado w/ 160,000 miles on it to Pat McGrath chevy land as a last resort to fixing my truck. As it was and STILL is randomly going into "REDUCED ENGINE POWER". This is a known issue for these vehicles with no known concrete repair. I also was going to have them perform a wheel alignment while they had it in their possession. Keep in mind I believe in and preform regular Maintenace on all my vehicles/ Toys and never buy bottom shelf parts because it goes against my beliefs in quality. I am mechanically inclined to do just about anything. It's what I do. So, before I walked out the door after dropping my truck off at 12:30 pm 3/22/23 Joshua Cole (service rep) told me it would be $150 for the 1-hour Diagnostic fee and $150 for the wheel alignment. I agreed without resistance and went back to work.. Fast Forward to the end of the day 3:30pm Joshua C. sends me a $1800 estimate for parts. I declined as to my truck already having new parts on it (all OEM standard replacement Parts) Nor were they first set of parts to go on the truck to repair it as to I had tried to fix these issues for the last 2 years. I requested to have the tech just do a throttle relearn procedure and finish the alignment. I needed my vehicle back by end of the day "5:30p.m. their Closing time" for work the next day. I had to take it upon myself to call a friend to pick me up from home and take me to the dealer at 5:30 because Joshua Cole (my service rep) would not return my calls after our last conversation at 3:30. Upon my arrival I was greeted by someone, and they paged my service rep (Joshua Cole.) When he finally showed up to his desk after waiting 20 mins, I was greeted with a DISREPECTFUL attitude, as if I was an inconvenience. He charged me $338.01 for them to perform a visual inspection. When I asked why they didn't perform a throttle relearn procedure Joshua responded with "we didn't know that there were non GM parts on the vehicle so we can't warranty our work". I agreed with him that was fair but requested them to do the relearn procedure anyway (takes 5 mins with their computer) and I would wave their warranty responsibility. He denied my request in a very condisending manner. After I had left, driving back home my truck is still pulling to the right and the steering wheel still not straight. They never performed the Throttle relearn procedure or EVEN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE ALIGNMENT! To top it off, I had my friend hook up his Snap-on obd2 reader to my truck, they never even cleared the check engine Light codes from when I arrived at 12:30....... so that tells me they didn't even attempt to diagnose the PCM or TCM (power control module, Throttle control module) I paid $338.01 for them to perform a visual inspection, to tell me I didn't have factory parts on the vehicle.........They didn't turn a single wrench or utilize their top of the line General Motors obd2 machine (which is why I went there) to reset the throttle body. I drove away my truck in the Exact Same Condition It was in when I left it with them. This trip to McGrath cost me: *$338.01 for a visual inspection *Mental frustration *2 Hours of pay for missing work and counting because I have to take the truck back to align it *Time away from my family; and counting *Time to go out of my way to formulate this review; because I am not the type of dude to be petty enough to bad mouth others on the internet *my value and amount of trust in GM representees. I want everyone at Pat McGrath chevy land to know I intend to take this matter to your licensing board. If I could leave a - review I would. so Pat Mcgrath, I award you 1 Star. read more

I ordered my Chevy Bolt on September 1st, 2022 and was told when I ordered the Bolt I would get it in 3-6 months, well 7.5 months later and no Bolt. I was also told I would receive monthly updates. Will not give even a ballpark quote for a repair over the phone unless you spend $150 for a diagnostic. Unable to even speak in hypotheticals. You won't know if your repair will cost $100 or $100,000 until you pay them $150 That is their policy. STAY AWAY UPDATE: I called another dealership (in Marengo). Not only did they give me a quote for the repair (with the understanding that it is not an exact quote until they know exactly what needs to be repaired), they also informed that there was still a manufactures warranty on this item. All information that would have been useful to get from McGrath. Understand that when I was on the phone at McGrath I asked the person I was speaking to if I could talk to someone that knew more and could help me more with my specific request. She told me she knew what she was talking about and talking to someone else wouldn't help me. I also told her that I thought the policy to not give out a quote without charging me $150 first was out of line and that I would be leaving negative reviews on the internet so other people knew to stay away and go elsewhere, and she gleefully replied: "Go ahead and do that!". It is surprising that some companies still do not understand the impact of negative reviews on the internet, and train their employees accordingly. read more

Well I have to be honest...this initially was not a good review BUT, I will say this...their service manager Melissa Corken did a phenomenal job at rectifying the service that I had initially received. I won't state what happened because I feel that the justice that was performed on her behalf nullifies any feeling I once had. She is a great person and showed me that she was working with great people. Just like all people know...things happen, and I was probably a 1 percent that had the experience that I did. But with the help of Josh Cole (service advisor) any wrong that I felt, was made right and I TRULY appreciate and value that. My vehicle had 22K miles on it and the tires needed replaced. I was told by the service specialist that there was a recall on the tires and it the warranty would cover 60%. My wife picked up the vehicle and paid the entire bill. We were told by the service specialist that we would get a check for the difference. This was September of 2021. After 10 months of being told they were looking into it, I went in and asked. Now they say because the vehicle was just past the 36 month warranty, GMC was not going to cover. I would not have spent $900 plus on 4 tires that I could have gotten elsewhere for much less. If GMC would not pay the difference, McGrath should have stood behind their employee's word to the customer. Sorry, just lost a long time loyal customer for a few hundred bucks. read more

My fiancé and I went here to trade in a car he had previously bought there (the first one he bought he had to return within a few days because of the amount if mechanical problems). We told them what our top price would be, and they completely ignored it time after time. Then, after spending 5 hours there, most if which were spent just sitting and not being helped, we finally signed papers. After the fact they tried to take back part of the deal, which would have cost us more money. A few days later then they took my name off of some of the papers without having me approve it, despite the fact that my name is the primary name on the loan. A week later I bought a new car from a different dealer who took the price I gave him the first time and was in and out of there in less than 2 hours. read more

The McGrath's are some of the biggest crooks in the automotive business! My last purchase, their vehicle was over priced by $5000 and then they tried to low ball me on my trade by nearly $6000. I eventually got the deal that I wanted, but it should have never started out that far apart. I feel sorry for the people who go in there who have not done their homework first to know what their trade in value should be and what the car they are looking to purchase is worth. McGrath's will always take advantage of these people. My daughters boyfriend took a job there as a salesman and one of his first times that he stood in with another salesman, they were trying to sell a car to a college girl. There are so many issues with this dealership. They ignored the price range I wanted to stay in and charged thousands more than the suggested price and literally gave me nothing for my trade in. This place is a joke. I went in there to buy a car and got the complete BS treatment the whole time I was there. After the they played the salesman/manager game for an hour, they presented me with there final price which was $1K off of what I told them I would pay. We then split the difference and settled on a price. The it was off to the finance goon. After he told me that I would need to give them a blood sample to get approved, I almost walked out. after messing around in there for 2 hours and giving them everything but my first born they gave me my interest rate. I almost puked on the floor. I laughed at the guy and told him I could get a better rate ANYWHERE! I walked out the door and right down the street. I bought the same truck with a few more features for less money, less hassle and quicker. I would give them a zero if I could. I will NEVER be going back to this business. I bought a car from them on the 15th... They forgot to have me sign something and so they called and left a message. Like anyone, I listened to it and forgot to call back. I then received another phone call yesterday (the second call). This one was from the Sales Manager. He left me a voice mail stating I was hard to get ahold of. Which to me is offensive because I only received two phone calls. I called him back, left him a message, then waited two hours and called again. When I didn't hear back I called the store directly, and they paged him two times. They reported he was busy. He never returned my phone call. At this point I log onto my work email and see an email from my EMPLOYER stating that he called them for me to return their call. He called my EMPLOYER, after two phone calls, and I called him 3 times in one day. I then called the store and asked for this Sales MANAGER. I expressed my frustration with the way he went about getting a hold of me. I told him that it is rather offensive to say that I am hard to get ahold of after two phone calls, and I called him three times in one day. He told me I needed to come in to sign something. I asked him what I needed to sign and he stated he didn't know. He stated it was very important to sign it as soon as possible and asked if I could come in yet this evening because they are open until 9 pm. I stated I would try. He then asked if I could come in tomorrow if I don't make it in today, I told him sure-- even though I had no idea what it was for and he couldn't tell me. He then asked me what he should tell financing..... I told him that I would try to come in either tonight or tomorrow. Later in the evening I went to the business. At this point I am very angry because he has contacted my employer and they will now look at me as if I am irresponsible. I expressed my frustration to another manager at McGrath. They then brought the Sales manger that was rude to me in. This sales manager said there is nothing to be upset about it is good news because my interest rate got lowered. I asked what I needed to sign and he said I just told you... the interest rate got lowered. He then looked at me like I was an idiot because my husband-- the cosigner-- wasn't with me. He asked where my husband was and I said at home, the then looked at me again like an idiot and said well can he come here. I said sure, but this would've been nice to know over the phone when I spoke to him. At this point, I talked to the financial office and stated I either want them to remove the warranty that I paid near $7,000 for or I will be returning this car. They asked if it was because of the payments and I informed them that it was because I do not want to do business with this company ever again and the warranty makes it so I have to get my car fixed at McGrath. In the end, they removed the warranty. If I would've found a car at a different place I would've returned the car. read more

When I visited Chevyland early 2016 to purchase a vehicle I asked them not to do many hard pulls on my credit. They try to pressure me into purchasing a Jeep as a second vehicle when I expressly said I didn't want a second loan. I found out recently after trading in our car for the SUV we had been searching for that my credit score was low. I went to a site to pull my annual free credit report and saw where Chevyland had 10 hard pulls on my credit, costing me a total of 20 points on my credit score which I had worked extremely hard for a year to raise high enough to qualify for a home. Now I have to wait another year in hopes I can gain those 20 points back all because of a company who refused to be customer oriented. If you have to purchase through McGrath, go to the Marion Superstore where they are customer oriented and actually care about what you want and what you need. And they will not cost you your hard earned credit points on your credit score. And another thing about Chevyland, beyond the pressuring to purchase something I didn't want, the Jeep was a recent trade-in that had not been through servicing. read more

I had an okay experience....Was looking for a specific SUV, which I found on their car lot. Negotiating was practically like cutting an arm and a leg off and beating the "manager" over the head with a limb. They had an "internet" price on the truck which was lower than the lot price, and I found the truck online, and they STILL tried to get me to pay for the lot price. I was able to negotiate the price I wanted, however the vehicle had several issues that were covered up. I came from out of town(2 hour drive) to look at this vehicle, which gave them plenty of time to get it ready. The truck had a bad thermostat, the blower motor which was bad, so I had no heat in this truck during the winter while transporting my children to school. They did pay to have that fixed however, BUT upon having the blower motor fixed at a different in town dealership, the mechanics noted that the fan clutch was also bad. I tried to have Mcgrath Kia fix the fan clutch, but they wouldn't. When I called to complain to the manager about it, he said he would cut me a check to have it fixed, and wouldn't you know, it's been 8 months and still no check. To many broken promises, and to many covered up issues in their used vehicles. I have spent some where around a thousand dollars in less than a year to have these issues fixed. Although I love my truck, and it now run and drives perfectly, I don't think I will do business with them again. read more
