Service is friendly and wonderful! I used to love the Carmel and pecan rolls, but since it changed ownership, they are more dense and not as airy and fluffy. The cinnamon bread and breads are still the bomb! I hope they get back to the old Carmel roll recipe, I loved those! read more

Small unassuming place along the highway. A charming little cafe with excellent breads and pastries. Perfect stop for a quick breakfast or lunch. Their cheese danishes had the perfect amount of cream cheese and the right amount of sweetness from the fruit (ordered Apple Danish). Their sandwiches comes with a cookie! That was a nice surprise. However, the staff and customers were not following COVID19 guidelines regarding masks or 6 ft distancing, but if you're not bothered by this then I'm sure you'll love it. read more

We had a wonderful visit to the McGregor Baking Co & Cafe on June 20. It was such a delightful surprise to drive into McGregor and discover this little gem! It is conveniently located at the intersection of 210 and 65, so it is a handy stop whatever your destination. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich on multigrain bread. The chicken salad was delicious, and the bread was soft and fresh and sweet. My wife had the Italian sandwich on whole wheat, and she said it was really good. And both meals came with a fresh cookie: mine was a yummy peanut butter cookie, and my wife got a fat chocolate chip cookie. Highly Recommend. Would go back. I was very disappointed. A friend had recommended this bakery, and I'm never going back. The young girl behind the counter was as glum as glum can be. Never greeted me, and made me feel as though I was inconveniencing her. Next, I had to ask for the prices and all of their bakery goods. (Why are people afraid to put prices on their products?) I ordered a bakery item, and it wasn't very good at all. It had way too much sugar frosting on top and the flavor of the pastry was lost entirely. In short, don't waste your time or your money unless you're looking to get ripped off by somebody who refuses to smile. My recommendation - you can do much better if you decide to go elsewhere! read more

At the southeast corner of the intersection of Highway 210 and 65, there is an unassuming building that is the location of McGregor Baking Company and Café. We normally do not travel through McGregor on our way home from the Twin Cities but today we decided to take a different route. The drive was beautiful especially during the fall color season. When we arrived in McGregor, we were more than ready for lunch so we decided to give this place a try and were we ever glad that we did. Once inside, we saw a display case of delicious cookies, donuts, pastries and muffins. On the back wall, behind the display case, was homemade breads. We couldn't wait to order our sandwiches. The menu is on a menu board on the wall. If you order a whole sandwich, you get a free cookie. Now, the whole sandwich is big enough that you might have to take half of it home for tomorrow's lunch. The bread and sandwich ingredients are all fresh! Jim ordered the Italian on homemade Rye bread. The sandwich ingredients were mayo, salami, hot peppers, bell peppers, mortadella, ham, Swiss cheese and lettuce. As he ordered a whole sandwich, it came with a chocolate chip cookie. His sandwich was huge so I decided to order a half of a chicken salad on sesame herb French roll. The ingredients on my sandwich was chicken, cream cheese, avocado, cashews, sprouts and lettuce. It was the best tasting chicken salad I have ever had. Your food is served on a small wooden cutting board. Other lunch food options are soups and salads. They also serve a breakfast sandwich. With also being a bakery, they serve an assortment of donuts, danish, croissants, sweet rolls, sweet breads, muffins, cookies, brownies, pies and breads. All homemade, right there in the back room. What goes good with any of these mouth watering bakery items? Coffee, tea, or milk! There is also a cooler filled with bottled water, juices and pop. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and will make sure to take the McGregor route just so we can stop back at McGregor Baking Company and Café. When I told the owner I would definitely be coming back she handed me the order form for their baked goods and told me to call ahead and place an order if I wanted to take some for the road and it would be ready for me to pick up. Stopped on our way to Duluth at around 1130 today. Both of us had the breakfast sandwich. Disappointed they were out of croissants. The wheat bread was great though! Overall was a great sandwich. As a business owner as was a little dismayed that all 5 employees were standing out front talking about their weekend plans for the entire time I was there. I'm sure there was something they could.be doing or save some labor and punch out? Just thinking like an owner. If your in the area stop! The sandwich was fresh and tasty! read more

Traveling through McGregor and spotted spotted this Bakery. So glad we stopped. My husband got a turkey sandwich on a sesame roll. I got the chicken salad that came with guacamole, cranberries, cashews, sprouts and a cream cheese spread. I had mine with a garden salad. The baked goods all looked wonderful! Husband had 2 excellent cookies. The staff were very friendly and helpful. An all around wonderful lunch! read more

We were visiting McGregor for a family wedding, but honestly not expecting the town to have too much to offer in the way of food. Boy were we pleasantly surprised!! We stopped in for a quick lunch and were not disappointed. I loved that they had all of the combination offerings so you can try a little bit of everything. I went with the chicken salad special. I can't remember the exact name, but it was ramped up chicken salad and came with a side of potato ham soup - very delicious for a cold, rainy day. This is one of our favorite places to eat. We go as often as we can. The sandwiches are the best. The bread is cut thick, crusty on the outside and soft in the middle. The meat they use is not that skinny, slimy deli kind, but is real meat with good texture. All the other fixings are top-notch and generously applied. I love the turkey bacon ranch. I'm not kidding when I say I dream about their sandwiches. You can also buy loaves of bread to replicate the sandwiches at home! We've also tried their muffins, cookies, rolls, chocolate covered pretzels and peanuts. Everything there is excellent. I'm always surprised when it's not super busy!
