We were in our "weekend gear"...shorts, ball caps, flip flops. Upon walking in, I did notice some really beautiful things. I adore old furniture and several things caught my eye. The lady working there never greeted us, never asked us if she could help with anything. Another older looking couple came in, and she immediately asked what kind of items they were looking for...and was extremely friendly. This was very unsettling to me. When they left, she yelled out "Thank you for coming in...have a great weekend!" As we were walking around and chatting about different pieces, my fiance saw her roll her eyes at us. I found a fantastic retro chair that didn't have a price on it. She was at her desk and I went up and asked how much it was. She never stood up to see what I was asking about...she just had me describe it. She quoted me a price. I then mentioned that I saw some fabric swatches on a shelf and asked if she had anyone who did reupholstering...and she said "no those are just mine". As we left...no thank you, nothing. She obviously thought we were too young, and too broke to afford anything in that store. It was all I could do to keep from walking back in there to tell that woman that I had enough money in the bank to buy anything I wanted in that store...but will never return for any reason. Caroline Irby has done such an excellent job bringing intention back into the product she places on her shelves. Her collection ranges from local retailers and neighborhood vendors to women and black owned businesses. If there's ever a small business to support, it's these guys. Located right next to our favorite dog park, we were drawn in on our evening walk by the beautiful dresses and flowers in the windows. Talking to Ms. Hall you can tell she has a heart for Old East Dallas. The shop is dedicated to her late mother and sells new and vintage clothing and home goods, often with a floral motif, at accessible price points. The handmade crafted jewelry is beautiful and the curated collections of pieces have clearly been done with care. Her customer service can't be beat. She carries sizes from XS-XXL in some items and has a variety of items from clothes to pillows to candles. This is sweet little gem of a shop nestled next to a local barber shop and tortas restaurant and right next to the elementary school. Go treat yourself and stop to smell the flowers.
