Here are a few of the things we appreciated: Professionalism - From our first conversation with RisherMartin, we felt as if we were dealing with true professionals. We interviewed many builders over the course of about a year without feeling like we'd found someone we could trust. As soon as we met with them, we knew we were in good hands. Communication - RisherMartin met with us in person at our home on a weekly basis and came with updated written progress of our project so we always knew what our current status was and what to expect in the coming week. We very rarely had to request information from them, but when we did have a question our calls/emails were always answered the same day (frequently within the hour). Quality - RisherMartin not only exceeded our expectations for quality on our entire project, they fixed several things we didn't even notice! Timeliness - We were expecting our first child when we began our project. I had quite possibly one of the most perplexing experiences ever with this company. Our family had…read morea new kitchen sink and faucet we wanted to install in the kitchen. The job would require cutting the laminate countertop by about an inch or two on the sides. We also needed to replace the wood in the cabinet below due to warping from various drips and spills (the home is 16 years old). We put the job out to three contractors, Republic Renovations being one that came highly recommended. Without coming over to look at the job or even discuss it on the phone, Bryan asked a couple questions via email and then sent over a bid. His wasn't the cheapest, but having done many remodeling projects myself I felt like it was fair. Fast forward a couple weeks while we picked up a new faucet, I reach back out to Republic Renovations to let him know we were ready to move forward. I explained that the new sink has a single drain (the old one has two) so we'd need to rough out new PVC to go from the disposal to the wall. I also reminded him of the full scope of the project, including the wood on the bottom. We get a new bid back from him with about a 70% increase in total project cost. Again, I take a fair minded approach to it, sign his contract, and we schedule a date for a week out. Less than 24 hours before our scheduled work, Bryan sends me an email saying he won't be able to make our appointment. Fine, I ask when we can reschedule. His response, "I'm not the man for the job. I do apologize." Really? When prompted why he even took the bid and discussed the project with us for well over 3 weeks, his response was simply, "Your frustrations are understood, apologies again and for any confusion!" So word of caution here. Don't bank on this guy following through with your job. Other than the slow start procuring our faucet, there's no clear reason why this guy flaked less than 24 hours before the day he requested to do the work. We've been more than fair with his original bid and questionable increase in cost, we even opted to have him do it on a Saturday at his request. The lack of professionalism here is pretty astounding. Update: so his response is about not having a plumber. Wish he would have told me about that before he scheduled the appointment, and that explanation would have been nice via email when he cancelled. Again, folks, buyer beware.
