Cancer scar from Dr. McKay's mistaken cancer diagnosis--removed by new doctor.

I'd used Dr. Elizabeth McKay for years. Five to be exact. I left her for another dermatologist, Dr. Yvonne Romagosa in Stuart, back in 2018, because I got tired of her mistakes. She misdiagnosed three conditions that Dr. Romagosa found and corrected. ALL THREE WERE CANCER. Even my new doctor was surprised about all the missed, easily recognized lesions. Dr. McKay made mistakes by saying a Porokeratosis (a precancerous growth) on my arm was a Granuloma Anulare,; she completely missed a leg (thigh) lesion--instead calling it "nothing" for over four years--while it got worse and even started bleeding (that's when I found a new doctor, and it was correctly diagnosed by my new dermatologist). I turned out to be Squamous Cell Carcinoma and I had to undergo a few treatments to resolve the cancer, because the incision to remove it was so deep from years of Dr. McKay's failure to diagnosis correctly. She even missed a melanoma that had been there for years.

Instead, the appointment felt dismissive and incomplete from the start. Despite confirming ahead of time that I was covered as a Curative cash‑pay patient, I was told in the exam room that I "did not have insurance" and was questioned about payment. This immediately set an uncomfortable and unprofessional tone. The exam that followed was minimal. Dr. Bush performed a quick ultrasound on one vein in each leg and immediately dismissed my CVI diagnosis. No full ultrasound was offered, and none of my symptoms or the extensive steps I've taken to manage them were discussed. My concerns were redirected to an old spinal surgery, even though my neurologist has already ruled out spinal causes. When I explained that gabapentin didn't help, I was met with, "It made you feel better, didn't it?" -- not a meaningful clinical conversation. The only advice I received was that I "might feel better" if I lost weight, despite having already lost 80 lbs. I left feeling unheard and reduced to a number on a scale. Major symptoms that affect my daily life -- discoloration, numbness, swelling, throbbing, difficulty sitting, and constant pain -- were never explored. After driving nearly two hours each way to see a specialist known for thorough evaluations, I left without answers, without a plan, and without feeling respected as a patient. I will be seeking a second opinion.
