Family run business. The owners are incredibly warm and friendly, accommodating and helpful. My car broke down in their area, which is 10 hours north of my home. It was a very stressful experience, and I was on the verge of tears by the time I reached their shop. Jody and Patrick went out of their way for me, calling me down an offer and comfort, helping me find a good local rental car, advocating for me with my insurance company. I had such an amazing experience with Jodi and Patrick at Mckays. I was a deer in the headlights after my car accident and had a lot of unanticipated obstacles maneuvering AAA's claims department to be able to successfully complete my car repair. Every single step of the way Jodi was willing to talk to me on the phone to provide her insight and help with next steps. Jodi and Patrick went above and beyond when we discovered that my claims adjuster at AAA had not released liability to pay the deductible, even though they had determined I was 0% liable. Everyone was so patient with me as I was very frustrated that I had to wait another 24 hours to get my car. They even looped in their insurance coordinator who saved the day! Just a big just shout out to the staff and employees . I stopped by to get an appointment to have a cargo net installed in my new CAR of 4 months, the dealership was going to charge me to install it, told them no I will pay the home town shops. When the gentleman checked it out, he just kept right on working until it was it completed, wow what a team they have. These lovely family own business if by far the friendliest group of auto body technicians and assorted many other skills especially people skills. I've never felt so at home and loved by a auto shop. They care about there customers like I have never see before in this business and I'm so glad to have found them over 5 years ago. I will never go to another shop as long as I live in Fortuna or surrounding areas! My last accident was in the BAY and I was more then then will to spend the tow fee cause I trust they will treat me like there own and would let me drive off the lot unless they knew 100% my vehicle was safe like new! My Toyota is 12 years old and was starting to look tired from the little dings that normal wear and tear can inflict on the body of a car. Someone backed into the front of my car beside the license plate (probably a trailer hitch) and then I managed to put a ding of about 2 inches into the back bumper going 2mp in reverse. Needless to say...My car was starting to scream "Woman Driver"! My miles on this vehicle were low so I took it to McKay's. They went over the entire car and I have to say that this car looks like new. I am so happy. My rear bumper got dented when someone backed into it while I was visiting Morro Bay. I was in the middle of a roadtrip and didn't really have time to stop and get it fixed for a couple weeks. While I was in Fortuna doing laundry, I saw McKays behind the laundromat and stopped in to see if they had time to do a quick fix. Patrick was very friendly and helpful and they popped out my watermelon sized dent in no time. Didn't even charge me because it was so quick! Great little find. read more

I was having trouble with my trunk lid staying closed, and I knew it was something simple like needing some WD40, or tightening a few screws. I took it to the nearest place to me, which was JC Auto on Ronald Ave. in Fortuna. I told them what was wrong and they told me it would be an hour charge of $120.00 just to look at it. I told them they were crazy and left. I made an appointment for the next day with McKay's Collision Repair. I told Patrick and Curt the same thing I had told JC's, they looked at it, Curt said "I'll be right back." He brought a tool, said zip, zip, and that was it. The latch had just came loose. They didn't charge me anything, and wouldn't even take the lunch I offered them. My mechanic, who also happened to be my husband, died in January and I have been at a loss as to what to do.
