No longer open 24/7. This was the only 24 hour store in town. Now the nearest 24 hour store is 46 miles away.

I've been shopping at Ray's in Gold Beach, OR for over 25 years. Today I received the worst service…read moreEVER. Checker was Valeria. she didn't know where canned milk was located. At check out I requested plastic bags, bagged light and explained I have a really bad back. I had 4 total bags, each heavier than the last. she had to rebag into 6 bags that I could lift. Took a 5lb bag of potatoes out of one. She tossed the last bag up onto the debit station and asked "Is that light enough?" She put a big bottle of sauce on top of a bunch of bananas. Im always courteous to checkers, so when I was done paying I nicely said "" Thanks for your help". She glared at me. The next time I go into Ray's and she's the only checker, I'll leave and head to the competitor.

Our family came to Gold Beach for a week and I've been to other Rays before, so I figured this…read morewould be a safe bet. I was really REALLY wrong. First, this location is TINY, was poorly stocked, and the produce was bad. While shopping, I took the last of a LOT of items I was looking for, and didn't find a bunch of things I'd assume I could find at a Ray's. I also went in on a Sunday afternoon and shopped for our family for the week. Apparently they don't like that at this location. I had a full cart and when I pulled up to the check out, the cashier literally looked at my cart and said "oh sh*t" and started loading my groceries. It was a full cart but not ridiculously full. It was groceries for four for a week for pete's sake. The lady who got in line behind me also saw my cart and immediately began screaming across the store for another checker to open up. Someone came to help bag my groceries and literally just threw things into bags. Like....loaf of bread on the bottom under three cans and a half gallon of juice. Just crazy. Got to our rental and had to immediately throw away half the produce because it was bad/moldy/rotten once we opened it up. The pricing was SO WEIRD. $11 siracha and $2 mayo. I have no idea what the heck is going on there. All in all, if you need a quick basic, sure....stop in here I guess. If you need to actually shop or you want any reliable selection.....go elsewhere.

I love 88¢ mango and Avocado! Must go there to stock up on your fresh foods!

Today, I shopped at Walmart in Crescent City, CA. for salad veggies. Today is 1-20-2025. I was in…read morethe produce department at about 1:00 p.m. Went to find organic green bell peppers and found them and the radishes, just below the peppers. Both products were water logged from excess water from the spritzer. Both the bell peppers and the radishes had water inside their plastic wrappers, as well on a bit of frost on the a radish inside the organic radish bag. No, it was not mold, it was frost. They keep that section too cold for bell peppers and radishes. So, since I had not anticipated needing to drive around with greens and green onions in the car, while I shopped for the peppers and radishes at Safeway, the only sensible thing to do was just go get all my veggies elsewhere, and take them all straight home. The first time this happened was months ago, and I was unaware of the situation in the organic produce department and got home to find the radishes and peppers I had bought were inedible. The radishes were clearly saturated on the inside, with one side of the white part looking the normal white color and the other half looking grey and awful. This was just the result of being water logged and frost bitten. Anyone who gardens knows what I am talking about. Also, the bell peppers had large soft, soggy spots that were not rot, but soggy and frost bitten. I do not understand the attitude that a manager would have, to allow this to occur in a food store. Produce is called perishable for a reason. Produce needs a little bit of care to remain edible for a reasonable amount of time. Besides the wasting of food, this practice of neglecting the standard of storage and/or display of produce says so much about the departments' lack of regard for the shopper or the value of food. Especially since this is not the first time this has happened to this shopper. Walmart does not care, so neither will I care any longer, to shop Walmarts' produce department. The extra few miles I will drive for decently cared for produce will be fine with me. The waste of food through careless handling is not fine at all, however.
