This is, by far, the best farm I've had the pleasure of visiting! I was so impressed on my first visit that I signed up for the CSA (once weekly share of produce.) Boy oh BOY! It was a steal! Every Wed afternoon we would pick up our share of everything...and I mean everything. Fresh strawberries, blueberries, berries I've never tried before- I forgot their name, potatoes, garlic, watermelon, onions, kale, chard, cilantro, tomatoes, dill, cucumbers (that were awesome- and I don't even like cucumbers!), cucumbers for pickling, apples, pumpkins, delicata squash, green beans, purple beens, cabbage, butter lettuce, purple cauliflower, purple potatoes...it's ALL there. Everything. I know my fruits and veggies- but this farm introduced me to new ones I had never cooked with before. It has been an absolute PLEASURE! The best part of moving to this area from Portland is discovering this little unassuming gem out here on hwy 126.
Here's something I don't especially want to share....and I've said it to the owners. I didn't want to tell fellow Yelpers about their farm pizza. I'm from Portland, and if word gets out about a place like this, the next thing you know you are standing in a long line at your favorite place. The pizza here IS AMAZING. It's fire-roasted from the fire they keep just perfect for coals all day. It's local wheat made into this most amazing pizza dough from their on-site pastry chef. They top their pizza with farm-fresh (not just saying it- this stuff was just picked Right There) topping of your choice. It is seriously the best pizza I've ever had. And you've passed by it on the way to Bend (or on the way back) and wondered if you should stop in. And you didn't! And I got more pizza to myself! With NO lines! I'm making myself terribly hungry right now. You should just see this pie.
While you're waiting for your pizza to cook over those toasty coals you can go into their store and buy yourself their coffee beans (local- but not done there.) Also awesome. You can buy beef from the cows that broke through the fence this year and ate some of the farm's watermelon. You can get fresh produce - the good stuff. All organic. All raised/grown there. You can even check out the chickens, happily tilling the farm. All in a little un-assuming stand that you've passed by so often.
And get this- here's the ultimate. You can do all this and grab a beer! The beer garden is open (when it's in season)! If I didn't already have a house I would move in here. I love, love, love this farm.
Now- if you go... be sure to let me go first in line for pizza. ;) read more
