I come in here weekly with my husband. It is a great place. This is one of those hidden gems that is amazing. The customer service is always on point. It is abundantly clear the owner loves his business and will talk to you about basically anything, give tips, helpful recipes, and so much more. I'm a food blogger and so I love talking about recipes with him, but he is great with food styling too, and makes sure if I'm using whatever meat for a blog recipe that it's absolutely perfect. All I have to do is ask, and it's done. They run weekly specials, and it's always a great way to stock the freezer. The specials rotate too, so it is different each week. We also really love the ribeye steaks, which are perfect for a stay home date night meal. They also make food there like sandwiches and other things. Which I often forget, but the owner can absolutely cook. His baked beans are a favorite of mine, and I generally hate beans, which says something to me. Would I return? Absolutely. I love old-school establishments like Benedetti's. It's the no-frills butcher shop around the corner that has been doing business pretty much the same as they were back in the day. You get some friendly advice, a little neighborhood gossip, and your meat nicely wrapped in brown paper. The great thing about Benedetti's is they also have a small lunch counter and grill offering up classic east coast deli sandwiches like chicken parmigiana, Reubens, and more. I stopped in for a quick lunch based on the recommendation of fellow Yelper Mark M., and I couldn't be more appreciative of his advice! The cook was super friendly and we chatted up a storm while he prepared my turkey club with bacon and avocado. He grilled the turkey, which came as a surprise to me... but I loved it! They don't have indoor dining at the moment, so I took my lunch to a nearby park and had an amazing time. No complaints here. I've been there once and have yet to return, so this review is based on my first visit. You pull up to the exterior of a building that doesn't appear to be a meat shop. You walk into an interesting environment with soccer on the screen, blaring its audio out loud. Apparently, the deli guy who makes the food is really into watching "fútbol" (you know, the non-American way of saying soccer). Anyway, before this trip, I saw an advertisement for a brisket and bacon ground beef mixture. It sounded delicious, and I had to get some. There was none prepared, but the meat guy ground some up for me. You can't go wrong with fresh ground meat. It was delicious, by the way! I also got some delicious carne asada as well. I sent my Husband in to get some meat for pizza. I had my heart set on Speck and smoked mozzarella (hoping they would have that)! He said the guy working was very nice and offered him and another customer a sample of the Speck. He was surprised to hear it would end up on a pizza. My husband left with some additional sausages. Sadly they didn't have smoked mozzarella. While he was there the other customer mentioned that the pork chops were very good, he was back for more. The incredibly foul-mouthed employees dropping loud, and aggressive F-Bombs ran me out of this place before I could even get my order in. Highly inappropriate behavior for any public facing business. Will never step foot in this place again. Bummer, because they have good food, but not good enough to warrant the behavior I experienced. Another solid italian sandwich place worth the detour off the highway. They toast their sandwich which is not so authentic but tasty. Last time the bread tasted like it had been microwaved (not good) but it was also toasted (better). Not so much lettuce (hubbie likes that, I like more). Pepperoncinis - mmmm. Give this place 6 stars! I stopped in to discuss business with James and to my surprise I seen what looked to be a legit deli! I've been looking for a good deli ever since I got back from Vegas. I was dissapointed by the Deli's around here that sell more Cigarettes and Video poker than sandwiches and was about to give up on my search. I entered Benedetti's and was greated not only by a kind gentleman behind the counter (Eric I believe), but the smell of meats...Cooked meats...meats that made my stomach turn due to instant hunger. After talking business I decided to get a sandwich before I left. I got a Steak and Cheese sandwich. It was topped with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, (.50 extra)lettuce, tomatoe..... and had about a 1/2 pound of NY steak and melted cheese. To say the least...It was fantastic. I am an instant fan of Benedetti's. I mean seriously....James cooked the meat and veggies right there infront of me. Not like it was pre-made and stuck in a warmer....It took around 5 minutes to make the sandwich and each minute was worth it. Hell, I would wait 10-15 minutes for a sandwich from here. I seen him making a pastrami sandwich while I was there that looked awesome, and a customer was dining inside having a turkey/avacado sandwich I believe. James asked how it was and the customer told him, "This is deliciuos! Very good! Very good sandwich!" That's a good sign hearing different people raving about their food. The market is very clean, as said in a previous review one side of the deli is raw meats and sausages, the other side is where they make their sandwiches. Eric told me on Saturdays they bust out BBQ's and do some grilling. They use Boar's head meats also. I wasn't sure of it's reputation, so I asked my manager who is a NY native and used to own a restaurant if Boar's head meats were good....He told me it's one of the best meats they use back east. I voiced my frustration to James that "delis" around here are all cigs and video poker and he agreed. Where he was from, every meat market had a deli in it, and he's definitely bringing that east cost deli feel to the great northwest. If James sticks to what he's doing, I see him expanding and opening another location. I really dont see how he cant! I can't say enough about this place. The first time I heard about this place was years ago when we were floating the river and we took some meat to cook on our favorite island stop. Our friend had bought pre marinated fajita meat. They were they best I had! I went here to get meat for myself after this point! The quality is hard to find any where else in town! I was also pleased to find at this point that they had a sweet deli! This has been one of our favorite lunch spots now for years! I love the avocado turkey sandwich, and the steak and cheese! I am so happy that they now have the other side open for dinners! I was kind of bummed last night because we were told it was supposed to be pasta night. Our friend even called in advance, and we showed up and it wasn't on the menu for the evening. Sad face! We did how ever end up ordering the teriyaki steak, and the smoked meat loaf which I was iffy about but all turned out wonderful! Full of flavor! The steak had sautéd green scallions which set it off, and the smoked meat loaf had a gravy with bacon! = heaven!! You know, I've heard so much about this place and have been wanting to try it forever. My friend and I decided to head over and get an amazing sandwich we'd heard so much about. We were starving which I thought was perfect because I planning on just laying into one of their highly touted sandwiches. My friend ordered the Italian grinder, while I ordered the steak and cheese sandwich. We didn't have to wait long before our delicious looking sandwiches were brought out to us along with a nice mound of fries and a crisp looking pickle. I sank into a bite of my friends Italian grinder sandwich and the first thing I noticed was that it tasted like a cheap salad with a fair amount of oregano dusted on it. There was very little meat, a lot of lettuce bits and a lot of oregano and vinaigrette. The bread was so-so, which was a disappointed because to me, the bread makes the sandwich. I had a bite of my steak sandwich, which was already ten times better than the grinder but still overloaded with oregano. So much oregano. The fries were delicious, and in generous helpings. Our waitress was interesting, lol, she seemed a bit distracted and very casual about service. Super nice, but seemed like she was somewhere else. I have to say I felt bummed out. I think I might have built up this expectation and when it didn't deliver, I felt almost let down. I know that sounds silly, but I really put a lot of energy into local restaurants and their food. Went here for lunch yesterday on a whim with a coworker. I had the Pastrami Sandwich and all that can be said is WOWSER! The pastrami wasn't like the usually fat-laced item. Very lean meat, fresh lettuce and tomato with a slice of onion on a grilled piece of artisan bread. Had a Sprite and a bag of chips to boot. Service was a bit slow, but the cook/server was apologetic- Hey, I'll let this one slide. They are expanding and it looks like for good reason as while we were there, several people came in and out getting sandwich's to go (called in), and some stayed and dined in. After making a trip out to try El Taco Express, I noticed Benedetti's was in the same strip mall. I decided to swing by and knock two places off my Springfield bucket list. On the inside, the public portion of the establishment is partitioned off by a long snaking cold case filled with beautifully butchered meat. I know they sourced their pork and eggs locally from Sweet Briar Farms. They had some pork chops that looked pretty awesome. I would have snapped some up if I didn't have a bunch stashed in my freezer already. I noticed they also sold Ranger chickens. I did pick up a fryer to take home. The counter is divided into a raw meat section and a deli meat section where they also make sandwiches. I saw the barbecues sitting out front and noticed that they had BBQ brisket sandwiches as a special. I had never really eaten brisket until I went to school in Houston for 4 years (where brisket is the standard meat served at any self-respecting Texas BBQ). Brisket is an exceptionally flavorful and tender cut if cooked correctly, but can be excessively dry and crumbly if over cooked or rubbery and tough if undercooked. I figured there probably wasn't a better benchmark to gauge Benedetti's food than trying their brisket sandwich preparation (see picture). Verdict- AWESOME. Visually it isn't too exciting. A pile of tender brisket meat topped with coleslaw, a hit of spicy BBQ sauce, all within the sweet embrace of an onion roll. The tender beefy meat provided the bulk of the sandwich, with the coleslaw providing a nice textural contrast. The BBQ sauce finished each bite with a slightly spicy kick right in the back of your throat. The dish had excellent balance, and everything I am looking for in BBQ Brisket sandwich. Price for the sandwich was $5 (I chose to forgo the chips and drink). To round out the experience, both gentlemen working behind the counter seemed very nice and personable. If only this place was within walking distance- but thankfully it's just a short bike ride away... Often times people think they have to add more condiments, spices, etc. to make something taste good. Benedetti's BBQ brisket sandwich is proof that "simple" food can be both flavorfully and texturally complex and satisfying. I'll definitely be back. read more

I only lived in the Eugene area for 3 years, but this became my favorite lunch spot. Every time one of the big wigs from my company came to visit, I always brought them here for lunch.
