I love it because it isn't as crazy busy as some of the other pools and it makes it easier to splash around and not worry about being on top of other people. The bathrooms are basic but clean.

Lots of lifeguards on duty which is nice to see. Plenty of parking too. There is one swim lane, a diving board, a 4-5 foot large section and a more shallow kids section. There's maybe 6-10 picnic tables. No lounging chairs tho but a decent amount of shade. I most recently went on a Thursday at 5pm and it was pretty much empty. More people showed up around 545 and I think there was infant swim lessons. Will be back again soon!

The pool was big enough to accomodate many different age groups and even had different activities to participate in while in it. There were the slides, a volleyball net, and huge floating lily pads lined up with a rope you could hold onto in order to cross on the pads! There were more than enough lifeguards on duty and the employees were all very helpful and kind. The only flaw I would say this place had was the fact that the pricing seems a bit high in my opinion. If it is a neighborhood swimming pool then it should practically be free for kids to get in and have some summer fun but the pricing was such that if you had a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children) the total out of pocket would be near $30. I guess it is cheaper than if you were to take your family to Hawaiian Falls or another water park but it still seems a bit on the expensive side to me with way less rides and attractions compared to the "real" water parks. This place is a great get-away if you want to stay near the area or just have a short outing for little kids but otherwise if you are looking for a "water park" experience then you should probably just go to one. They allow coolers and had shaded picnic tables. There is not that much parking available compared to the size of the place but it doesn't seem like it would ever be at full capacity so it doesn't seem like an issue. There are a couple of things that weren't posted on the photos on here and one of them is their skate park. Another is their little "rock climbing" mountain for little kids. These attractions aren't really big but for Lakeway it is a big deal. This area doesn't really seem to have many parks or recreational places for little kids so it was quite refreshing to see a place like this. The skate park had teenagers hanging out and a few little kids and the "rock-climbing" simulation was probably about 5 feet tall and 10 feet in diameter so it isn't too dangerous but is fun for little kids to climb on and off of.

When they do, they shoot the messenger and protect the guilty. There is one woman lap swimmer who nearly everybody is afraid of. She is as mean as a snake. She has been lying to people about me repeatedly. She called me an asshole to my face in front of others, for no reason. She has been pissed off because when people ask to share my lane, if they have plastic paddles I ask them not to use them because I have been hit hard by good swimmers and it hurts. You can look it up- injuries and pain from plastic paddle hits in lap pools is a known problem. Yesterday an obviously competitive swimmer asked to share my lane. At first I said ok but then I saw he had plastic paddles so I asked him not to use them and I told him why. I was polite and so was he. He went to another lane. Next I saw the woman talking with the lifeguard- this is what she does- she befriends the female lifeguards then manipulates them into coming after me. Next, a guy in the middle lane starts talking loudly for all to hear saying "everybody has to share". He too obviously was upset at me. I have never spoken to the guy. I think he may have also been manipulated by this terrible woman. I corrected him. I said that I have no problem sharing, but I have a problem with the plastic paddles because they hurt when people hit you with them. He accused me of poor arm control, which was a lie. When sharing I always stay far on my side, and I never swam with this guy. Then I see the lifeguard standing near me with the assistant pool manager, who until recently, I thought was a friend. They were whispering. I said "Hey, come here. I want to talk to you about what has been happening here. Only the assistant director came over. I told him exactly what had happened. He told me that I cannot ask people not to use plastic paddles. Today I got a call from the pool director. Before he could say anything, I said- I am going to tell you what really happened. I told him the true story. He said that was not what he was told by multiple people. Clearly, the others were lying- probably repeating the lies the old woman told them about me. Before that, I offered to never occupy an entire lane, to demonstrate that I have no problem sharing. And I said if anybody asked to share with plastic paddles I will give up my lane and share with somebody else. And I said if that is not good enough, you can give me my money back and I will never go to your evil pool again. So that is the situation. I have more horror stories about the Lakeway Swim Center lap pool but thats enough for now. Do yourself a favor- skip this pool of Lakeway affluenza and entitlement.

There's also a tennis court, a basketball court, and a nice little swimming pool. There's decent access to Little Walnut Creek behind the basketball and tennis courts, but make sure you watch for poison ivy. There's shady picnic benches and bbq grills throughout the park, and a nice gazebo area for groups. There's lots of open field space for frisbee, or anything else that requires a big open space. There's sweet 0.4-mile hike/bike trail loop. Lots of awesome big trees, native plants, a rain garden by the basketball court, butterflies and other pollinators, and probably an unexpected amount of wildlife. I've seen several birds (hawks, small herons on the creek), a bunch of different lizards, and of course squirrels. It's an excellent place in the University Hills neighborhood to get some outdoor time!

Dottie Jordan isn't nearly as well endowed as say, Zilker, but the dimensions that it does have are fully utilized. There's a large playscape for the bigger kids to play on, and a little playscape for the smaller kids. There's a nice swimming pool to cool off in during the summer, complete with lifeguards, but it isn't open year-round. There's a small rec/community center on sight too, but what actually goes on in there is only speculation, since I've never been in that building... The ammenities also include multiple picnic tables, some covered seating, and some built-in barbecue grills. There's also a creek that snakes around the perimeter of the park where my kids love to go fossil hunting, and just on the inner edge of the creek there is a little walking/ jogging trail. I've been to this park many many times, but never checked in until my kids and I met Keri B. here to plant trees for an event she posted on Yelp!, called "Ready, Set, Plant!". If you live near this park and haven't been to it yet then I suggest you take your kids there right away.

As for the dog park area... it's a wonky and warped medium-sized lot that's fenced in. Water bowls are spread throughout, along with patio chairs that neighbors likely donated, and the majority of it is shaded. This dog park seems to be maintained by the community. There was a giant water jug that one kind gentleman kept refilling the bowls. Outside the bark park you'll find the water refill and rinsing station. My dog had a great time, and would probably give this spot a solid 5-stars.
