I've been here several times this summer to complete work on my laptop and have found it enjoyable each time. This library is a great place to learn about local events given it's advertising of local flyers and papers right when you walk in and the location in the middle of downtown. I've been to several events hosted for kids here, too, outdoors, and they have been nothing but fun. I'm assuming that because of the library's proximity to local restaurants and stores downtown, you must go inside to grab a pass to place on the dashboard of your vehicle if you intend to be there for more than one hour. This makes total sense, and I'd rather this rule be enforced than no or limited parking available, but sometimes it can be a pain to park the car, walk inside, grab the pass, put it in the vehicle, and walk back (especially when it's raining outside). Overall, however, I support the idea. That being said, having been to other university and town libraries, this spot notably doesn't have as much as others do (e.g., updated technology, dedicated rooms for children/teens). If you are a local resident or out of town guest looking for a good book or wondering how to spend a rainy day, this is definitely a good option. If you are a local Boone resident, or even a college student, I suggest obtaining a library card. This can be an especially quiet place to complete work and study when the App State library and local coffee shops are crowded.

We traveled to Blowing Rock, NC to visit friends and to explore the area - what I didn't know is…read morethat our friends live only a few hundred yards from this beautiful marvel in a cliff side home over-looking the beautiful valley below. The Blowing Rock itself is an immense cliff 4,000 feet above sea-level overhanging John's River Gorge 3,000 feet below. I've read the legends of this rock and my friends have told me during the winter storms the snow blows upward from the cliffs and from their back porch the snow rises from the valley and appears to fall upward. The air currents that flow upward prompted scientists to surmise this location is "the only place in the world where snow falls upside down". I climbed up the blowing rock that protrudes over the valley to get the best view possible and felt the breeze rising upward, it was pretty cool while a little unnerving at the same time, I admit it was a crawl to the very edge and not a place I felt comfortable standing it's very steep and treacherous in my opinion. The entire facility is well maintained and the staff here was very friendly and knowledgeable. They have a snack bar with outdoor tables and a nice gift shop. On the day we arrived there were several artists with their canvases painting the blowing rock and backdrop. There's plenty of parking and as beautiful as it is I think allowing less than an hour here is more than enough time to see it all and explore the observation platform and hiking trails...

It was beyond foggy the day we went, they warned us before we paid but I wanted to press on. The gift shop is nice and has literally something for everyone. The properly has 3 kitties roaming around. The rock itself is sorta a gimmick but the story behind it is full of culture and myth. The property is VERY well maintained and beautiful. There is a small cafe/snack shop halfway to the observation tower. There are some stars but also a ramp. There is a view finder for a few quarters on the deck you can make use of. The paths are short and this place is pretty accessible. I really liked the gem room too it was very interesting, there is also a tiny museum with some history and artifacts. Blowing rock is pet friendly!!

Not only they were not delivered, but they were, in a matter of 1 hour, based upon on the tracking history, returned to sender!! I did not even have the curtesy option to come and get the packages from the post office? On top of that, I am calling during business hours the next morning and they do not answer the phone. If I could stop using USPS for all my shipping needs, I totally would. I am going to provide that feed-back to all and any shippers I deal with going forward even if I have to pay shipping or pay more. It is beyond poor customer service and sadly, it is not the only post office that does not deserve my business.
