PLEASE READ IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES!!!!!!!!!! I spent 10 days in this facility where I not only experienced abuse, watched the staff actively laughing at the patients there, but also was misdiagnosed after 5 minutes of speaking to a real doctor ON A COMPUTER SCREEN and then placed on a medication that made me want to end my life. I am writing this review for the poor people who think this facility will do anything but harm. I don't think yelp will allow me to give 0 stars

Quality care Beautiful campus Dated facilities My mother needed care and was admitted to the Belmont location of McLean in the spring. Leaving aside her specific plan of care, McLean offered a facility and patient population that allowed her to be with people of very similar needs profiles, with friendly day to day staff and physicians/social workers who cared. Admittedly, those same physicians/social workers occasionally seemed flighty (pro tip: always lend as much help to your loved ones as you can in agency and advocacy for their health), but the care plan was steady, warm, multi-disciplinary, and most importantly, effective. The Belmont campus is older, stately, and beautiful - but the downside of beautiful old facilities is their inner workings. Some draftiness and plumbing issues plagued my mother's stay - it's not a modern hotel, for sure. Speaking up about these issues brought no immediate resolution, and so it was a side project to assure she got what she needed on this front. Most importantly, my mom was supported by capable individuals who cared effectively for her, and her treatment was positively life-altering - she's a new person who credits her stay with this unlock. So for the drawbacks, the net positives are undeniable. Recommended.

Made us feel like a doctor with a soul who cares for their patients. Except the front desk staff were impatient! Then, I went to the main hospital on Mt. Auburn....front office, excellent. Administration staff, who record(ed) first-time visit to the hospital, wonderful too! Personable! Oh! The woman who did my blood work --Horrendous! She persistently dismissed my being combatively (and I hate to say this about a Black given the racial connotations loaded onto us), but she showed complete disregard for me and cut me off when I tried to speak. She was thoroughly dismissive of what I said, even when she pretended she wanted to apologize (to protect her job). I tried to explain to her that I wanted to prepare her for my squeamish behavior when getting shots so she didn't feel daunted by a grown woman screaming over shots . I also tried explaining that I always try to create a safe space with new social interactions. I also get excited when I meet another black woman like me in practices where they are very rare --particularly true where I live! Plus, considering that black women's health is statistically underprioritized and mostly neglected, having a black medic attend to me boosts my hopes of "being seen, heard, and attended to with courtesy"; how wrong! This woman/lab tech was awful! She focused on reminding me she's been doing this work for umpteen years, and nobody has ever complained about her, "I'm very nice." I tried to explain to her, as a teacher, kids are not all the same, and I do not treat kids the same." Oh! She decided to explain my profession to me, like she knows it better, "That's a classroom. It's different...kids are not going anywhere..." Anyway, nothing was left for me but to tell her, "Have a great day!"

Dr. John Kwon, MD (MD!, not DPM), is an expert, Fellowship trained Foot and Ankle orthopedic surgeon, who exudes expert, state of the art, compassionate care. I am grateful to an MGH orthopedic surgeon for referring me to Dr. Kwon. Dr. Kwon's Care Team includes a Physician Assistant by the name of Patrick Maguire, who is a superb clinician, as well. Dr. Kwon and Patrick Maguire function as a very cohesive team, and collaborate closely. On the day of my surgery, Dr. Kwon updated Patrick Maguire about what he discovered of my condition, in the operating room, while Patrick was seeing patients in the Foot and Ankle clinic. I saw Patrick several hours, later, as we were leaving Day Surgery, and Patrick had already heard about my surgery from Dr. Kwon, even though Dr. Kwon, and Patrick, were in two different places. Dr. Kwon's support team, in the office, two, very caring ladies, are superb; they are as caring, as they are professional, and efficient. I am confident that I could not have found a better foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon, than Dr. Kwon, and Dr. Kwon's team, and the Day Surgery Team (including nursing and anesthesia) are absolutely superb.

They gave me a diagnosis within 4 hours and next steps despite not having a radiologist to read my results present (they outsourced). You'll notice people in the reviews will say you might be placed in the hallway, which was the case for me, but you will see that in every hospital. The ER is always overbooked and understaffed everywhere. Over the course of the night the staff regularly checked in on me, ran all of the necessary tests, and prepped me adequately for emergency surgery the next morning. The staff was truly exceptional, the surgical teams are incredible here. My surgery went flawlessly and they also did a great job with post-op follow ups, calling me promptly and scheduling my 2-week post op check in ASAP. During my surgery, they kept my contacts in the loop throughout the process. I thank everyone who helped me here at Newton-Wellesley and highly recommend choosing this hospital.

Or just a couple miles from the pike. Limited parking at the entrance for handicap and some charging spots. Usually those are taken so you have to go to the lower parking spot and walk up a ton of stairs. There's also the option to valet which is $12 or only $4 if you have a handicap placard. To get to the lab/imaging location, when entering turn right after the check-in station, then go straight to the end of the hall and then left. You'll see a wooden desk on your right to check in. There's a small waiting room there, but also a larger room across the hall. They're not a lot of phlebotomy stalls, but they move pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and efficient. This is a good option for getting labs vs driving into Boston.

It was fairly crowded, but we were called back for testing in a pretty reasonable manner. The providers were fantastic at keeping everyone relaxed despite the overwhelming night. The front desk receptionists are kind and attentive to everyone - the waiting room was pretty well-managed given the crowd and timing. I appreciated the water and phone chargers that are provided in the waiting room! However, following the blood test, we were not told that the results would be available for review on the online portal until nearly three hours of waiting for a doctor to call us back. We received her results within the hour of the test and could have left right after, but killed time waiting. I've taken other people here in the past and have never had this problem. Better communication in that regard would have been appreciated. Overall, it was a fine experience and this is definitely my go-to ER over the others in the area. Personally, I see several providers in a variety of specialities at Brigham outside of the ER and have had nothing but good things to say, especially the dermatology department. As an out-of-state college student, Brigham is always in my insurance network and it's never a huge hassle to schedule consultations or follow-ups.

The staff are completely rude and unprofessional, their bedside manner is unacceptable and their incompetence is evident for all to witness. When asked why certain procedures or measures are being taken in a patient's care, they respond with hostility to being questioned. When loved ones inquire about a patients condition, the staff treat them like nuisances at best and criminals at worst. I have never been treated so terribly at any medical facility. If I were to describe this hospital with two words it would be unprofessional and incompetent. The management needs to conduct a complete investigation into their staff, this hospital should not be allowed to treat their already stressed and upset patients in this manner. As I write this, we are watching two other visitors being interrogated and asked to leave the hospital by a public safety officer for "harassing" the front desk at the emergency room. We have been with these two visitors the entire visit as they have anxiously waited for their friend and been denied both answers to all of their questions and the right to visitation. I would like to reiterate, a public safety officer was called on two visitors for making multiple inquiries about their friend. Multiple inquiries that would not have had to have been made if the staff had given an answer to any of their questions. We received similar treatment when we tried to ask for the name of the nurse who was treating our friend. Everything was secretive and the treatment we received for asking questions felt vindictive. This hospital needs to be investigated, they should not be allowed to treat any person this way.
