I have struggled with ADHD for years and was very hesitant to try medications. Mary June's warmth and openness makes it easy to work with her. She's a wonderful and skilled clinician. I highly recommend her. Caring, dedicated and highly professional.

I have received accommodations before in college and provided my previous documentation. The response I received from Farah Assefnia, who works there as administrative office, was very brief, rude, and dismissive -- saying that they don't participate in that kind of service. When I followed up to ask if they have an age limit or don't serve adults, she simply said there is no age limit, however, they won't be able to provide documentation for college accommodations. Farah treated me poorly. Their website mentions "Support Services & Accommodations," so this was very unclear and disappointing. It was never specified if they specialize in accommodations for workplace, college students, high school students, middle school students, or elementary school students. I felt discriminated, disrespected, and dismissed. If they don't offer this service, a polite explanation and a referral to another clinic who has experience providing documentation and accommodations would have been the professional thing to do. I would not recommend this center to anyone who is a person of color, college students, young adults, or disabled individuals looking for support seeking support or accommodations. Farah Assefnia's response showed a complete lack of customer service skills. McLean Counseling Center needs to train their staff better or hire people who know how to treat clients with basic respect. They also need to update their website to specify what "Support Services & Accommodations" actually means.

Dr. Salyer provided me with very good advice and suggestions on how to help my young children break bad habits. She was helpful later with advice on how to deal with bullying issues at school. More importantly, Dr. Salyer helped me and my husband in disciplining our children in a way that would be helpful to them in not only interacting with adults/teachers but also peers; she also helped us to understand when what our children were doing or saying was very normal (at that age). Not only has Dr. Salyer helped my husband and I with our children, but she has also helped me handle my mother's dementia. Having a parent suffer dementia and not knowing how to respond was extremely difficult; I would respond to my mother reasonably and logically, but the response from her were always extremely negative. Dr. Salyer coached me and on how to respond to my mother when she was angry or hallucinating. I am so grateful for her help in navigating these stages of dementia and helping me to understand the disease; the advice and coaching have help reduce my stress, anxiety, and sadness over the disease that has completely changed the mother I once knew to someone completely different. Dr. Salyer will always give you honest answers and advice as well as constructive criticism, and if you are truly wanting to help your family and yourself then you have to accept that she will tell you things you may not want to hear but will truly help your children/family. I have been able to share her advice with friends/colleagues, who later thank me because the advice was extremely helpful and gave them positive results with their children. I really don't know how I would have navigated the unchartered stages of parenting and caring for an ailing parent without Dr. Salyer, and I hope to be able to continue receiving her advice/support until all my kids have gone off to college!!
