I've never been a pet person but after a big breakup in which I had to let go of a dog I fell in love with, I realized I was a dog person and knew I wanted a special dog in my life. About a year ago, Owney and I stopped in at the Pet Placement Center to say hi. They recognized him and were so happy to see him happy and loved. They even took a picture of him. I can't say enough great things about the Pet Placement Center. They truly care about animals and want them to have their furever homes.

The Volunteer Coordinator Fran was friendly and thorough when speaking with me about the history of the shelter, volunteer options, and during the shelter tour. Each staff member said hello and introduced him or herself. Although a small shelter, everything looked clean and organized. This shelter is also a nonprofit and exists to help both the county and city shelters, Humane Society and McKamey, with overcrowding challenges. Can't wait to help walk dogs, etc!

She came back, night after night, trying to woo him into a trap to get him safe and much needed medical care. Right then, I knew that this person was special. She is an advocate for the voiceless and forgotten. She has so much tenacity and dedication and she makes me want to be a better person. Please support this rescue if you can. Best friends and hens is proof that you can be a small rescue and have a HUGE impact on the lives of animals.

I went home with none because I thought 5 would be too much. after talking to a friend she told me to go back and get them. I didn't wa not to get them until I had the room ready so I was going to go on Sunday. I calked and they said there are only 3 left. What? I was told it was all or none. I said I would take the 3. I get a call back saying someone wants one. I said ok because I only wanted to adopt 2. As I left I told 3 people I wanted to adopt them. I went and bought tons of stuff for them and fell in love. Fast forward to today and I get a phone call from a very rude woman named Terry who said I have to bring them in because they are being adopted. Again, what? I am adopting them. She said someone didn't fill out the paperwork so you're not getting them. She said it's too bad but there are others you can adopt. Why can't they adopt other ones? I've had them and have bonded with them. And they are separating them! I want them both.

First, they had kennel cough, then she had a infection that required antibiotics, they tested faint for leukemia, hopefully don't have it and now yesterday I took them to the vet and they had tapeworms. The kennels and cat rooms can be walked through and their cats/kittens are free roaming. They have all sorts of breeds and sizes of pets. Typically there are 60-80 adoptable animals. They need Volunteers! The Volunteers here are wonderful. They give the dogs and cats their time and love while awaiting forever homes. The shelter is need of donations as well. The main things they need are: Gallon bleach, Laundry soap, Wet pate dog or puppy food, and paper towels.
