The dermatologist removed the basal cell and then I went to the SSM Aesthetic center so the plastic surgeon could close the site. I expected skilled care and a good outcome. Unfortunately, my experience was far from that. The procedure left me with unnecessary scarring and complications. I sent photos of the botched site and returned to the surgeon's office in fall 2024 seeking advice. They recommended a scar revision with a different plastic surgeon. That appointment was scheduled for late February 2025. I went to the appointment. After waiting 45 minutes, I had to leave. I was told at the scheduling desk that this surgeon often double books. If I wanted to reschedule, the next available appointment would be in May. I typically don't leave reviews, but people deserve to know what kind of experience and outcome they might expect. I regret choosing this practice for such an important procedure, especially on my face. If you are considering Mohs surgery, I strongly recommend researching other doctors who have a proven track record of excellent results and compassionate patient care. You might want to avoid SSM Health's plastic surgeons.

I have BCBS Insurance. I contacted their intake and explained what was going on. They got me in very quickly with a Nurse Practitioner named Dr. Madison. There was a library of overdue blood tests I needed as well as OBGYN. Not only did I get in right away, but was able to get three appointments for my routine care and issues within the span of three weeks. All on my day off which is a Wednesday! All staff from business side to Dr. Madison was very personable and very caring. I got my blood test results back the very same day instead of two days as the lab predicted. Excellent service! As soon as open enrollment for insurance was available, I made the move as fast as I could. I have never had a bad visit here. I've ALWAYS received the best care possible. As someone who is a zebra when they typically treat cows (referencing my very complex medical history) they've handled it with superior care, concern and streamlined servicing. I've had everything done from physicals, lab work, physical/cognitive therapy, specialized treatment plans and about anything else you can imagine-- including surgeries contracted through UW Health Systems. Yes, there are preapprovals required for certain types of concerns, but I've never had an issue with paperwork going and has been done with little to no effort on my part. My doctor is Kyoko Felland and I ABSOLUTELY love her attention to detail and focus on my overall health. She always knows me and my concerns without having to look up my chart. When attempting to have a med refilled I was told they won't fill it because I haven't seen my Dr in over a year. I had an appointment and was in a rear end collision on way to appointment. I called and explained immediately and took the next available appointment. It was six months out. So now I have to go without something that really helps me. I again tried to get an earlier appointment but now its 7 months out. When saying this I was told "it states clearly in your care plan to be seen every 4 months. This was with dermatology.

It can be very difficult to find a Dr that is willing to take on a complicated patient. It was then we found this wonderful Doctor, Julia McMurray; gentle, kind, comforting, reassuring AND an extremely skilled Physician; yes our Angel. A year or two passed and Dr. McMurray moved to another area for a while, BUT she would not leave until she picked the perfect replacement to care for my wife....and she hit a another home run. She gladly answered all of my questions and covered any other topics that she felt should be addresses when establishing care with a new patient. She didn't just want to know my medical history. She actually cared about my lifestyle and quality of life. She also isn't test-happy, which is pretty rare. Despite being in good health, most doctors send me to get lab tests every time I visit them, which I always think is an unnecessary waste of money, but probably common in the age of medical malpractice lawsuits. I have a ton of respect for Dr McMurray and am happy to have found a doctor that I enjoy seeing.

First off, I'm new to Madison and had to find a doctor that would see me in time in order to get a physical for teaching which consists of a physical fitness test and a tuberculin (TB) test. I had asked the receptionist on the phone that I needed a tuberculin test, but after Dr. Kredit saw me she said that needed to schedule an appointment a separate day. This is just the first complaint I have. Not only did they not listen they CHARGED me for a separate visit only to be told that I have good insurance and that I don't pay anything. Well, I pay a good ever increasing dollar for my healthcare and for them to tell me that insurance will cover just made me feel taken advantage of. Second, it may be everywhere nowadays but I had to fill out a non healthcare Obamacare questionnaire asking me about smoke detectors and if I own a gun and how many and where they are kept. I asked them to treat me like a person and not pry into my personal life. This wasn't received well. They told me unless they knew everything that it would be difficult helping me. Third, my visit took four and a half hours. That is just for a blood panel test (which actually took 3 minutes to draw my blood) and an intense questioning which I feel was punishment for not answering the Obamacare questionnaire. My appointment was at 8:15, which they were on time (my only positive experience) and I left the phlebotomist at 12:45. Quite awful to have to fast for 12 hours and then have a four in half hour appointment. Fourth, I was told that in order to get my physical statement, in order to teach, I needed to have a behavioral assessment. I told Dr. Sheila Kredit that the Illinois state law describes the physical statement to be an affirmation that I'm able to be physically fit an free of communicable disease. Dr. Sheila Kredit said her interpretation is that physical also means mental. I was flabbergasted. It's like saying up is down. They refused to sign my form after I went for my follow up to my second appointment for my tuberculin test came up negative. I'm physically fit and free of communicable diseases but they won't sign my form. The takeaway should be that: Wingra Family Medical Center is unethical by using my healthcare to extort money out of my insurance company; Dr. Sheila Kredit is inept at her job because she can't listen to her patient's needs. Do not go to Wingra Family Medical Center for your healthcare. You will be disappointed.

As it turned out, it was not necessary. She diagnosed my medical issue and made appropriate recommendations as to addressing my issues. So much of my medical history and records are there so I am reluctant to just switch to somewhere else. But the services continue to decline. They now are charging a $10 fee for MyChart messages that require anything over 5 minutes of service. What?! I gave the eye center another try for a small service of adjusting my eyeglass. They wouldn't do it if the glasses weren't bought from them! I went to another eyeglass place where I didn't purchases my glasses and they were more than happy to make the adjustment and even went further by putting on some new silicone pads! I have a future change in my insurance and they requested I contact them. Why? The insurance they have on record is what I have now and when my insurance changes I will contact them. So I called them and they were condescending and rather abrupt in telling me all about what I need to do. (of which I am fully aware).

Between Rehab Institute of Chicago and alternative care, I got well. I cannot drive past this building and look at it without any form of PTSD. Keep searching...this place will not help you...
