The dispatcher told us the wait would be roughly around 20 minutes. the first cab came and left the patient here. didn't even provide a reasoning. we call back to order another taxi and was told we were on the priority list. it has been over an hour since we have called and still no taxi. the person we ordered the taxi is an elderly gentleman. who has now been discharged 2 hours ago. this is ridiculous. horrible experience. read more

Our experience with this service was BEYOND HORRIBLE!! Not only was the driver rude/not helpful he also refused to move his bag from the passenger front seat when we had 6 people(4 were kids) & someone had to travel unrestrained which is completely illegal & just plain wrong!! I've been a paramedic over 20yrs & have witnessed accidents with transportation companies a numerous times, never works out good in their favor when there are injuries!! We were in a minivan & it was close quarters so the whole Covid excuse is just stupid since there was no distancing anyways, complete joke!! Then when I called to complain the younger(20/30s) female representative was completely IGNORANT & basically said we get complaints all the time/didn't care @ all. I requested a cab and the attendant said it would be 25-30 ETA and when it didn't come I called the company as the possible cab pulled up and passed me and my friend and sad that he was full and then I called the company again and disputed with the attendant about WHEN he sad the cab would be coming and. I legitimately told him to tell me his HONEST OPINION OF ETA Because if It was longer than an hour I hold find another company and he hung up and then I called back to talk to him again and he immediately hung up. Well, Yelp calls 3 stars "A-OK" which works for me. After reading reviews here of McNamara, I was worried that I wouldn't have a good experience. But they accept credit cards, and that was important to me because it makes it so much easier for me to do my business expense accounting when its on a card. Anyway, I needed an airport run to O'Hare so I called. The guy who answered the phone only asked for my address and the time I needed a ride...after I hung up, I wondered if I should have also given him my name and phone number? Nevertheless, I decided to just go with it and see what happened. Well, the taxi was in my driveway at 6:10 AM (for a 6:15 am requested pickup) and the driver was prompt and friendly in putting my bag in the car. I got to the airport hassle free, the cab was clean, they took a credit card - no complaints here. I would have given more stars had the phone dispatcher sounded just a little more friendly or customer service oriented. read more

Shady drivers. I took a McNamara cab home last week from Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park, and the first give away was that the driver accepted a flat rate payment rather than a metered one. Then to accept the payment he used an old school credit card machine where it makes a copy of the card. Lo and behold, a week later I'm getting a call from my bank regarding fraudulent charges on my account. Stay away from these guys. read more

I've been using McNamara Cab exclusively for several years. There was only one time they were late to pick me up, and even that wasn't late enough to jeopardize making my flight in time at Midway. Most recently this week, to and from O'Hare with a flat rate each way. My return flight got in at 1am, called for a pickup and within 25 minutes they were there (the taxi line at the airport was at least 50 people deep). Excellent driver Johnny G - thank you! read more

I have used this company before for short, local trips and although they were often a little late, it never mattered. Until now. I was trying to get to the Oak Forest Metra station from my home in Oak Forest, a distance of 3.3 miles. The weather was bad (more on this later), I didn't have a car available and I had a lot of luggage. I called to make my reservation at 5:15PM for the cab to arrive at 7:15PM for a train that was leaving Oak Forest at 7:55PM. I thought I left enough time with the inclement weather to allow the cab to arrive at my house and get me to the train on time. Well, 7:40PM rolls around and there is no sign of the cab and no call. A call to McNamara turned up no explanation and no ETA, not even a wild guess. I rescheduled the cab for 9:15PM for a train that was to leave at 9:54PM. Guess what? The same thing happened. The same blow-off was issued by the dispatcher and I was basically told that the driver would show up whenever they showed up. I figured that they could at LEAST get a cab to my house by 10:30PM, enough time to make the 10:54PM train, the last of the night. Guess what now? Yep, still a no-show. I am a life-long resident of the Chicago area. I realize that the weather makes travel tough and a cab company busy in the winter. What makes me angry is the fact that no one called to tell me that there might be a delay. Also, I find it dubious (to say the least) that they could not get a cab from Chicago Ridge (or anywhere in the South Suburbs) to Oak Forest in FIVE HOURS, even given the weather. This probably goes without saying, but next time I will just walk or crawl or take a pack mule. Never McNamara. Never again. read more

Three times we had a predetermined pickup time for my wife to get to a pain clinic and they were late twice by 45 minutes and third time never even showed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!! They ruined our New Years Eve!!! I called this place two hours in advance for them to pick us up at 9pm. The man on the phone was yelling loudly, had me repeat everything twice like he wasn't listening, took my phone number and hung up quickly. At 8:55pm we look out the window, no one is out there. Waited another 10 minutes, they were late... still nothing. When we tried to call and make sure they were coming still the phone would ring and then it kept disconnecting our call like they were hanging up on us. Finally we get the same guy on the phone who denied we had a reservation. He thought he had put us on hold, but he started swearing and saying "Why do these fing people keep calling?" Then the lady in the background said oh, the number is #### and said my number and never got back on the line because they screwed up bad. After a while they turned their answering machine on and didn't even have the phones up and running!!! Can you believe it??!!!! D-U-M DUMB!!!!!!! I will never use this company and no one else should either, unless you want your night ruined. They never showed up, and we ended up having to drive ourselves. read more

Why does the dispatcher have such an issue? Regardless of the underlying issue, if a costumer needs to file a complaint, there should be a way to do so. And having the dispatcher say "Here's my supervisor" and hang up is not an appropriate medium. Neither is filing a BBB complaint, but where there is a will, there is a way. AVOID AT ALL COST, McNamara feels they have a monopoly on the Southwest Suburbs, but if you can wait a little for a pick up, Chi Ridge Taxi will get the job done...FOR CHEAPER too, even though McNamara is closer. With all due respect, I have never met such rude "customer service" as its so called in my life. What a shame. Plus, $8 minimum...thats more expensive than downtown taxis. Absolute worst cab experience! Cab driver drove erratically thru neighborhood. After trying to cut thru traffic, via a dimly lit parking lot, with his radio blaring, we asked to exit the cab. We have used this cab service for 13 years and will not use them again nor will we recommend their service to anyone. read more

I had taken a ride from a friendly Asian American cabbie and I must say that he is very polite. He speaks in a friendly and lively manner to me, my wife and my family. He is absolutely the best cabbie that works for McNamara. I don't know his name, but he liked be called a FISTFUL OF DOLLARS as he rose his fist and held out $100 $20 & $1 bills in total of $304. I guess that is nickname. He also had WEEZER'S 'I AM THE GREATEST MAN THAT EVER LIVED' on the the CD player/stereo. After I tipped him and he helped me unload luggage @my airport terminal, I paid him & tipped generously. FISTFUL OF DOLLARS told me that WEEZER personally wrote that song about him! My nights in shining armor!!! When the sweet siren song of alcoholic bliss has lured me out, these guys are my ride! For more than one reason of course. Most of the time you find me staying on the southwest/south city and burbs. These guys cover it all. And the cabs are always clean and fresh, no smoke, no body odor, or mold smells. They have a low base fair, and the drivers are always friendly, prompt, and easy to communicate with. They do most of their work in the South or Southwest suburbs, but they also offer flat fares to both airports. read more

This service is the worst of the worst. I was burned by them a year ago and chose to give them a second chance. Needed a run to the airport. The dispatcher said yes, 15 minutes - 20 at the latest. 55 minutes later the driver shows up. Appeared to have just gotten out of bed. Of course with traffic etc. I missed my flight. Suggestion to management: Don't tell the customer 15 or 20 minutes and show up 50 minutes to 1 hour later. If you are going to pull this stunt then call the customer back and let them know so they can make other arrangements if necessary, don't put the customer in the position where they need to call you back and inquire on what's what.. read more

Never use this service!! I called a day ahead of time to arrange a cab for a 7am pick up to Midway Airport. At 7:10 I called and was told that due to the heavy rain all the streets were flooded but the cab was on his way. At 7:40 I called again and now the story changed to the cab was rear ended but another driver would be there any minute. At 7:55 I was forced to drive myself!! Not a single flooded street the whole way!! A driver called me at 8:10 wanting to know where I was?? Just made my flight and now I'll have 10 days of parking fees thanks to McNamara! After another personal taxi co. dropped the ball on a pickup at Midway, I've been using McNamara. Their flat rate is very reasonable and every pickup has gone smoothly. The drivers are friendly and know their way around the area. The other guys from Oakbrook did not. I am very pleased and will continue using them on all my airport trips. read more

3 of my 4 cab rides with McNamara all had issues. 1 -Cab stalled on Cicero, and 2-3 times onto entry ramps for Midway, 2 - door leaked so badly rain entering onto me as a passenger, 3 - double billed on my credit card and McNamara says I have to dispute the charge through my bank, rather than them remove the charge. It's a problem they own, but won't take responsibility for. If I could give them zero stars I would. If you value your safety don't use McNamara, their vehicles are not safe. read more

They require pre pay on trips now and the dispatcher seems to like to talk shit to customers. the cabs are ok ,clean and the drivers do actually have more than one active braincell. fair prices. I'd give them 0 if I could. I reserved a cab on a TUESDAY for pickup on THURSDAY at 7pm. I figured I would book it WELL in advance to make sure there were no issues. At 7:10pm on Thursday (just as I was about to call to ask about it) I got a call from the driver asking for my address. Thinking he just couldn't find the house, I proceed to tell him the street number. Turns out -- he was in Orland Park -- 40 minutes away. He had JUST gotten the call from his dispatcher to go pick me up. Furious, I called the dispatcher. Incredibly, he told me that the driver was 5 minutes away!!! What bull****!! When I called him on it, his only response was that the driver in Orland Park was the closest driver he had. In the beloved words of Seinfeld -- "You know how to take the reservation, you just don't know how to hold the reservation...and that's really the most important part of the reservation....anybody can just take them." I also had reserved a cab to pick me up at the airport for my return flight, which I knew instantly I would never keep and started looking for alternatives. What an alternative I found!!! On Call Cab - a new cab service in Mokena. Amazingly inexpensive (only $60 from Midway to Manhattan!), on-time, friendly, on-time, clean car, and on-time. I will NEVER use McNamara Cab again -- and I will tell everyone I know how horrible they are. If you are looking for a cab company, look elsewhere. BTW -- Since I never actually cancelled my reservation for my pick-up, I completely expected a call from them asking me where I was. Not surprisingly -- no call ever came. I worked for this company and don't advise anyone else to, maybe it only happen to me, but I haven't worked for them since October and have been trying to get the bond they made me pay to work there but after 5 months the mail doesn't seem to come to Wisconsin. You wold think that all the times they tried to fax a place that I receive mail and faxes at; that they would have received something, obviously I have to show up in person. This company is by far the worst cab company around. half their drivers stink, don't know directions or just plain drunk and high. The company has knowledge of this as I have seen it myself....Driver walks in to get his car for the day smelling like alcohol and even after being questioned about it guess what? He still gets the keys. As for the cars, the website has lied and Michelle H's review is a little out of date. The cars do smell, there is body odor(and some smell like urine) as well as smoke. Most cars also do not have proper AC in them so if it is a hot sunny day be prepared to sweat like crazy. Dispatch is a joke, they do tell customers we will get there when we get there or they give a common answer of 20 minutes even knowing it may be an hour or so. They are always screaming at the drivers over the radio calling them retards and such which is really good for business as customers can hear that...NOT With all that said if you can to be sweaty going to your meeting, gag on the ride, or even risk being in a car with a drunk driver then sure call McNamara. I use their service every now and then. Basically, they always lie down about cab arrival time, but when standard 15 to 20 minutes extends to 90 minutes - you might not be happy. All together drivers are OK, but there is some dispatcher which acting as a company owner, (maybe HE is the one, however I do not think so!) Anyway I have decided to write some review tonight. The story is short. Is July 17, 2011 at 12:08AM, and I call their number 708-799-5777, and ask for simple ride from Village of Bridgeview in IL, of course to 63rd ST & MELVINA, and then this phenomenal dispatcher started asking me so many unnecessary questions like:: Where I'm going to? What kind of place is this?, What is the name of this place, and when I simply replied to HIM and his questions with:: 'Why do you need all kind of this information if you have a simple target location? He's response was - Sir, if you do not know the name of the place - then you need to find some other taxi service, and then HE hang up on me! I believe, HE was just trying to make my day! read more

Left standing at the curb. I made arrangements last Friday for two trips yesterday, Monday. When I made the reservation a contact number was asked for. I called Monday morning, from work, to verify the afternoon and evening pickup and was told that, yes, they had the orders. Afternoon pickup went smoothly. Evening pickup I was left standing at the curb. When I called dispatch I was told, by the gentleman who answered the phone, that he started his shift at 6 pm and that he had tried calling my place of employment, I guess because that's the last number that came up on their caller I.D., and well lo and behold the business was closed. So because HE couldn't make contact and thought it was a bogus order, even though had I called to confirm in the morning and was told that they had both orders, he did not send a vehicle for a pickup. Where is the communication? Plus, why was the contact number not called? He asked if I still wanted a ride and I told him, "I don't have any other way to get home." He then told me it would be 30-45 minutes. As I'm standing there waiting the phone is ringing, evidently with three phone calls back from them, I did not hear the phone, to still evidently verify that this was a real call. I then received a text from the driver that if I still wanted a ride to call him back. REALLY!!! Let alone the cigarette smell and the driver talking on his personal cell phone while driving, which I believe is now against the law??? Will NOT use this company again. read more

Worst service ever. I called them at 9:30 a.m. to tell them I need someone to come to my address at 3 p.m. as I have a child in daycare and someone needed to pick up my mother-in-law to retrieve our daughter. I was very insistent that someone be there at 3 p.m. and could not overstate the importance that someone be there at 3 p.m. and if they could not be there to be sure to call me so I could make other arrangements. Really beat the call taker up about it and made sure he understood. Had him repeat it back. Sure enough at 3:15 p.m. my mother-in-law calls me as she speaks no English but I was busy which was the whole reason I made this appointment 5 1/2 hours ahead of time as I knew I'd be tied up. 3:30 p.m. she calls again and now the school is calling looking for me. I break free from my meeting and call the cab company and they of course put me on hold and then come back to tell me they will have someone there in 15 minutes. A full 45 minutes late and of course they didn't show up until 4 p.m. so by the time they got to the school we were 40 minutes picking up our daughter which means one of the teachers had to watch her and the school fines you $1/minute so I had to pay this. I asked what the cab company can do to compensate us and they responded "Do you want the cab or not?" Imagine if I was going to the airport? I gave these guys over 5 hours to be ready and they dropped the ball and wouldn't compensate us nor apologize. read more
