This is my first review ever. The woman in the front desk was extremely rude. I took nine puppies for their first shots. They didn't provide a record of shot records like they did last year. The printed them on both sides of the paper so I can't give the new owners. When asked She was rude. I asked can I pick them them up later she dismissed my question. She charged me for 7 out of 9 and when she found the mistake she made it seem.like it was my fault. This clinic has gone down. I even noticed how they talked to other people asking legitimate questions, had no real answer. After 15 years bring our dogs never again! read more

This is the worst place to take your animal to . I brought a poor stray dog who was dehydrated , hungry and had been homeless for a while. The acting vet who met with me DR Chavarria, had the nerve to charge me over 500.00 before he would give the poor homeless dog electrolites and had me pay for a series of test knowing the dog was not mine , but a stray. As an animal lover I paid for various procedures to help the poor dog. After taking the dog to my mothers home , shortly after the dog was bleeding profusely due to an enema this vet gave him . The vet try to get more money off me by suggesting a blood transfusion for the dog and hospitalization. This is when I contacted my niece and we both agreed to put the poor dog down. This vet knew or should have know as an experienced vet that this poor dog was to far gone to be saved. This place is dirty and unprofessional in my opinion. read more

McRae Animal Hospital have always been very caring and attentive to my pets needs. The only thing I don't like is the Vet Assistant, or at least I think he is a Veterinarian Assistant. He is a bit rude, other than that; the rest of the staff at McRae Animal Hospital are very nice and helpful. read more

This place gets 2 stars from me. They were absolutely amazing when my last cat died. I was a sobbing mess and their bedside manner was amazing all through it. They lit a candle at the desk so people knew to be polite and give space, they let me hold him while I said my goodbyes. They cremated him and gave me a beautiful little plastic marble looking urn and paw print and didnt charge me a outrageous amount for it. Overall amazing in that regard. I also admit I really love that the dog and cat waiting rooms are separate. Really made things easier without the added stress of dogs being around my sick and stressed animals. This however is the only reason I am even giving 2 stars. The reason I am putting 2 stars and such a low rating is because of my other experience with my cats I got later on and currently own now. I loved the way they handled my last cats death. Again they were great I wont deny them that much praise. I after half a year once I healed a bit rescued 2 new kittens now teen cats. Neither were in hot shape when I got them however....My boy had a bacteria infection in both ears, and ear mites and my girl had a bacteria infection in both ears, a yeast infection, and ear mites. I loved how they handled my last cat in his final moments and decided to take in my new cats as well.... and welp that turned out to be a horrible mistake. I took them in every week for about 2 months. They only told me they had ear mites. Each week I went in the issue got worse for both of them. My girl cats ears by the end of this were 3 times the normal size from swelling, she was losing fur, hurting herself trying to scratch despite a cone, she had been in horrid pain for 2 months and my boy was getting bad quickly and also absolutely misrible even if not as poor off as my girl. Each time I went in I complained about the ear mite treatment not working and asked them to check for other things or prescribe something else as it only kept getting worse. Remember I did this every week and sometimes multiple times a week for 2 months and nothing they did helped them (obviously cause they were treating mites and not the yeast or the bacteria infection in either cat). And when I asked questions or brought up the issue of it not getting better but only worse I was told to just keep using the same meds and after month 1 they finally gave me a special ear wash (they gave me miticide and a mite prevention meds only before this and obviously they didn't help and neither did the wash) and they flat out ignored my complaints and each time told me I just needed to give the meds time to work and otherwise they never did swabs or testing on my cats ears to even see if something else was wrong. Litterly just brushed aside my concerns and kept giving me refills of the same meds that didn't work. The only medication they gave them for any of this the entire 2 months was the before mentioned epiklean ear cleaner, otomite ear plus miticide, and revolution plus (again a ear mite prevention medication) After 2 months of frustration and lost money while my cats only got worse and worse and I kept getting ignored I finally went to another vet. They did swabs of both their ears and low and behold they had something else wrong and I was right and yet now cause of this my poor girl now is missing a small chunk of her poor ear (from the one time she got her cone off at night) and had scratched all the fur off her neck and caused herself horrible damage of cuts to her face, ears, and neck and even lost a lot of fur in those areas due to the trama though thankfully it has regrown mostly now. I cant in good faith recommend this place beyond saying goodbye to your furry friend. The only other time I needed their help they failed me and my pets horribly. read more

My dog lacerated his right inner part of his eye. Took him to the McRae Animal Clinic 10/28/2021: 1. They gave me the wrong meds (different dog, different class of antibiotics) 2. They didn't label my doggie ibuprofen 3. They didn't charge me for his rabies and distemper vaccines 4. Which meant that I didn't have proof of vaccination 5. The vet didn't bother talking/calling me to apologize and let his front staff (they don't have a license, they have zero authority) handle all of it. The visit took over 3 hours to get everything wrong at the initial visit. I had waste an additional hour going back to their clinic so that they could correct it. How all this transpired...the office called when when I got back home to ask if I had all of my dogs medicine. I told them that I did. This raised my suspicions and checked what they gave me. I called them back to inform them that I was given the wrong antibiotic and that one of the medication bottles was not labeled. The receptionist called me 3 times to clarify their error. I then realized that they didn't charge me for his shots and did not provide proof of vaccinations. The vet could of handled all of this in one conversation. What they should of done, they should of told me that they have my dog's medicine and asked me to check what I had. If they were honest, that is what would of happened. I'm a physician and when there is a mistake, I talk to the family. What a miserable place to work. I felt bad for the receptionist and vet techs. I'm not taking my dogs there. I highly recommend this place. I like the doctor and the staff, very courteous. My dog is treated with kindness and is well taken care of. When I first brought my dog, I had just gotten Smokey from the animal shelter and after a few days he got very sick and I was worried he wouldn't make it. The doctor was so caring and did everything possible to help Smokey. That was three years ago, and when we go for his yearly check up and shots, the doctor remembers Smokey. I would not ever think of going somewhere else. read more

Ever since this animal hospital has exchanged hands, it has been a nightmare. I called and asked a question concerning shots prices and was told that they had discounts on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. I take my cats in and get their shots only to find out that their discount only takes place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and flat they refused to give me the discount even though it was their mistake. After speaking to the doctor they offered me checkups for my pets at no charge, but my cats did not need checkups, I wanted the discount as their employee told me was available that day. After arguing with the manager on the phone about how their business needs to own up to their mistake, she still did not want to give me the discount. I to le her that out was her employee who made the mistake and I'm the one paying for it. She finally told me that she would have to go and pull phone records and listen to the conversation I had with employee to see if she could refund me the difference. I'm waiting to see if I'll get anything back. read more

Putting our loved pet down was completely done wrong...Dolly was taken from us to insert a catheter... on each of her front legs the cathater would not insert so they tried the back leg with the same results...when she was brought back into the room where my wife and I were her front legs were bloody and she was in pain...when the Dr. tried to inject the pain killer in her back leg catheter it did not work as the vein blew out....the assistant inserting the catheters should have been supervised or known they would not work... our dog finally had to be gassed....one blessing was enough pain killer was injected she was asleep...we arrived after calling at 9:30 in the morning and were not admitted until close to noon...if you wish your pet to have a pain free passing tell the vet to administer a mild sedative when you arrive to calm them before anything else happens...this procedure was unprofessional and not humane...I took Dolly to this vet office for 16 years, will never take another pet there or recommend their services...Robert K Swisher Jr. read more

This hospital is really bad. We went there for the first time after we found a kitten on the streets, the doctor checked him up and sent him home with antibiotics. Next day we found MAGGOTS on an OPEN wound. I just don't see how they were unable to see that during a health check up! UNACCEPTABLE. When asked if they could tell me the gender, the doctor explain he couldn't at that time. They just sent us home and told us to go back in two weeks- with minimal instructions. I'm really disappointed! We had to go to a different hospital THE NEXT DAY for wound care and treatment. We went here cause it was the closest clinic to our location and reviews on google. To be honest, front desk service was good and prices acceptable, but we don't plant to go there ever again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. read more

We brought our first dog to McRae Animal Hospital for regular check ups and shots in 1987. When we had to say goodbye to our old pal, we knew we would return here for our next pet care needs. This has been our family's first choice for veterinary care for the past 27 years. The office staff is friendly and the vets are great! There are separate entrances for dogs and cats. The place is always clean, although a little outdated. There is plenty of parking and the place is pretty easy to get in and out of. We brought our dogs here for surgeries, annual shots, check ups and for illnesses. We have always been happy with the care we received for our dogs. read more

I took my puppy to this hospital, because he was throwing up constantly and I told the vet he might have parvo. The vet then didn't test the puppy to see if he had parvo, and gave him medication that had nothing to do with his circumstance. We were out of that animal hospital in 7 minutes, and he didn't even take our feedback of how the puppy was doing seriously. They charged us 104 dollars for one medicine that only made the puppy so much worse. So we called the vet and said that the puppy was doing worse, they then told us we would be on a waiting list. We then had to take my puppy to a different animal hospital, which he is in now and is doing so much better. Don't go to this animal hospital, go to a animal hospital that is well known and treats your animal correctly. AND DOESNT OVER CHARGE!!!! read more

I took my puppy there for all his first set of shots and was treated by a very rude vet and 7 months later he got parvo we took him back when the dog was only at the start of the virus they said they would check him out and ran a bunch test that he didnt need one day he was doing fine and I asked if we could take him home with some type of home treatment and the rude vet said that if I want to put him down its a shame because hes doing so well here, I said im just asking if there are other treatment options and he jumped down my throat so we decided to leave him there and then the next day he died this was today 12/9/11 I dont recommend this place all they care about is money not your dogs life and if you cant pay your animal will pay with its life.... be carefull people please if you love your dog or cat as much as we loved ours find a better place read more
