Having to say goodbye is a horrible experience and I don't wish it on anyone. However, the staff at Crossroads stopped everything they were doing to be there for me. It was dramatic but I ran out and just sat on the curb and cried. A staff member I don't know who, came outside gave me some water and just held me. She didn't speak she just held me tight. She got me on my car and waited till I was safe to drive home. I was really disappointed today. I've been coming here for over 14 years. However, the push to get you to spend money has really taken over. I recently went to get my 13 yr old arthritic dog some more pain medication. At the time, when I was asked how he is doing, I said he was slow to get up and move around. The vet tech said, so lethargic? I answered, not really lethargic, just you can tell he doesn't want to get up. Apparently he writes in the file lethargic. At the appointment, another vet tech suggests $1000 in tests to better see what is wrong. The over $200 blood tests we did 6 months ago told us nothing. Two days after, I get a post card that my dog needs his rabies vaccination. I call up, said hey I was just there, no one mentioned he needed a shot, do I need to pay another $76 for a visit Just to get that shot? The very rude receptionist said, well you said your dog was lethargic, and we don't suggest vaccinations to sick dogs. I tried to explain the miscommunication, but it didn't matter. I feel tricked, like this was done on purpose to get more money. I used to really like it there. I guess after this dog passes, I will look for someplace new for my other dog. read more

October 1st, I collapsed in grief when I got the call that my beloved furbaby Chubs died of cardiac arrest at the hands of Dr W during a Lioncut shave down while under sedation. Yes, I read & signed the paperwork re: the risks but I had taken him last year for the first one & thankfully no complications there. & a day before, I took Chubs & my other cat Karly for their wellness checkup & Dr. Ortiz gave me some reassurance that Chubs would be well enough for the sedation/haircut. Even the tech Jerry gave me the comfort in believing he would be ok ... So What TF really happened this time? I dread to think of a worst scenario, regardless I'm fkn devastated that my baby died at this clinic less than 2 hours from when I dropped him off. I lovingly managed to keep him alive & well for the last 2.5 years of his senior life with diabetes, which was diagnosed in time by Dr. Lenox. I will no longer trust this clinic for the rest of my pets care. I'm still crying, grieving over the loss of my sweet baby & going thru the guilt of having taking him there. I am so sorry, Chubs. Fantastic staff, caring physicians, and reasonable service quality. Maybe not stellar, but slightly above adequate, which is lightyears beyond what 90% of businesses deliver in El Paso. Tip: schedule an appointment in advance if at all possible. If memory serves, scheduled costs about $50 bucks less than a walk in. Tip 2: they use a service called Pet Desk for electronic communication and records. Apps available for iOS and Android. But you need to have your Pet Desk registered email IDENTICAL to what they have in their files at the clinic. Otherwise, your dog's info won't be available. read more

Dr. Mark Lenox is an excellent veterinarian and surgeon! My Siberian Husky. Mischka had a huge cancer tumor on her head, and I was told by another vet that there was nothing he could do. The cancer tumor would probably grow back if he removed it. But thanks to Dr. Lenox, he disagreed and removed it. Mischka is so happy not to have that huge, stinky. bleeding tumor on her head anymore, and so am I! read more

We love Crossroads, especially Dr. Misty Solis & the vet techs. After living in California for 20 years where I was spoiled with every vet specialist you could imagine, I was a little worried about my dogs' vet care after moving back to El Paso. I asked around and Dr. Misty was highly recommended, so I decided to visit her first. I was impressed by her knowledge and how calming she was with my dogs. I also learned that due to the lack of vet hospitals and specialists in the area, Crossroads had way more equipment than most general vets. I used to need a cardiologist to do my little dog's EKGs (she had a slowly progressing heart murmur), but Crossroads has the equipment plus trained staff who could do the procedure. My giant boy Enzo is the size of a pony, so he used to terrify my previous vet when he'd get grumpy over a nail trim, but the Crossroads vet techs handle him just fine. It can take a while to get an appointment (there are walk in times for emergencies, but I'm picky on which vet we see. A couple of them can be a bit rough around the edges, but I love Dr. Solis and the other blonde female vet who talked to me on the phone for a long time when my old lady dog had a seizure) and it's a bit pricier than some places here, but it's still way cheaper than any place I went to in southern California (my husky mix's tooth extraction was 1/4 the price!) and the care is better. My mom went to another respected vet clinic nearby with her cat to get her spayed, and the other place sent her home with the wrong cat! So now my mom's cats go to Crossroads too ;) read more

I took my dog to crossroads in March, 2023 for back pain. An X-ray was done by one of the vets by the name of Nancy Conkey. The radiologist stated on the report that discospondolysis should be suspected and further diagnostic procedures should be done. This vet called me and told me it was not discospondolysis. She stated that my girl had Lumbosacral disease and put her on carprofen for pain. 11 months later I called and had gabapentin added to her plan of care for neurological pain. On January 6th, 2025 she was diagnosed with advanced discospondolysis and started on aggressive antibiotic therapy by Dr. Antonio Bowen at El Paso Animal Emergency Hospital. Dr. Bowen and his staff provided excellent medical care to my beautiful Layla. On March 9, 2025 my baby lost the battle with this devastating bacterial infection. She was 5 years old when Conkey saw her. She did not have to die this way. Shame on you Crossroads!! I trusted you with my beautiful baby! You failed her. read more

Background: I rescued a pregnant dog I found wandering the streets--she gave birth in my home to 6 wonderful pups. I made arrangements with a rescue org to take the pups for adoption (for all but 2 that my aunt, in from Washington, fell in love with) and now fostering while we wait for forever homes. Stanley Yelnats, the oldest pup developed a honking cough and I was sure it was kennel cough, so I called the vet. My aunt decided to come along as this might be her last chance to finish vaccinations before her return trip. The Good: I was told no appts today but we were WELCOME to come in as a walk-ins (remember that, it'll play out later). Staff at the door were very courteous and friendly. Tech assistant to the vet was also gentle, good with the pups, and mostly communicative. The bad: The biggest thing of note is the attitude of the vet. Dr. Ron Weich was incredibly rude, and he was less than pleased to receive walk-ins. For 75.00 per puppy he subjected us to a 5 minute scolding about why we needed to make an appointment. He used words words and phrases like, "with as busy as I am, I don't have time for animals who are well," (although, my pupper was sick), and "I have a waiting room full of sick animals that have to wait longer while I waste my time with UNINVITED patients," he actually used the word unscheduled first, thought about it, and changed it to uninvited. He went out of his way to make us feel small, stupid, and not worth his time. (Wouldn't it be more practical to simply not accept walk-ins?) I'm not one to take abuse but my pupper was ill so I held my retort and explained that Stanley was indeed sick and the other pups were leaving town quickly and needed their shots before the long car trip back to Washington. He could not have cared less. Everything detail my aunt and I tried to impart fell on deaf, apathetic ears. He dismissed kennel cough but did not offer another cause. He was so dismissive and callous that I was utterly ashamed for him. I resigned myself to enduring the visit in the hopes that something, anything, good might result. Then came the bill: $346.78. I was blown away. I was charged 350.00 for what essentially amounted to a lecture on why none of us were worth this vet's time. (Shame on you.) When I asked for itemization, our clerk became disdainful and terse. While paying this ridiculous bill, I noticed a young man at the desk trying to get his very small, very sick pup in to see the vet. The front desk clerk was echoing the sentiments of Dr. Weich--no money, no care--with the same callous "you're not my problem," lackadaisical attitude. I'm guessing this is the attitude fostered, perhaps even cultivated, by this vet. (How very troubling.) Luckily for the young man, a woman standing next to me heard the exchange and offered to pay for the office visit. I then watched, as the clerk smirked and nodded knowingly at a co-worker, while the young man profusely thanked the woman. Wow. To conclude: I do not recommend this animal care facility. I cannot, in good conscience, suggest that anyone patronize this establishment as the vet is obviously burned out with regard to his profession. My only advice is for the vet himself. Sell the business; find another profession; El Paso needs vet who care, and your techs, clerks, and other staff need a better role model. read more

Took my dog yesterday to this clinic and the staff always do an excellent job in treating my dog. They were able to catch physical complications in my pet that no other clinic were able to do so. We're a military family and had the pleasure of meeting Dr Lenox at a 5K out in town. He was a kind and personable human outside of the clinic so we knew we had to take our pets to him. Unfortunately we moved away after a couple of years but have kept in contact with Dr Lenox. He set a high bar for our veterinary expectations and continues to be the standard we hold all our pet care professionals to...too bad for them but awesome for our furry family members. We have moved about 5 times since meeting Dr Lenox but he continues to make time when we need a second opinion or just to check in and see how we are all doing or answer a question we may have about one of our pets. I thought my doggy was going to die. He's 15. I reached out to Crossroads and by phone they advised me on cost, feasibility, options, etc. to be seen. When I brought him in, I was immediately taken to a room. We'd never been patients here. The vet we got, Dr. Weich, was very academic, not very good at bringing it down to laymen's terms, but maybe I'm just dumb. It was like speaking to Eugene Porter from the Walking Dead. Lol. But I asked questions for clarification and he answered so I was happy with that. I was satisfied with the medical analysis and with the cost. They do take competition into consideration. They even have boards up with cost comparisons for a variety of pet needs. I was grateful for that. We got an emergency vet visit, X-rays, blood work, injected anti-inflammatory and pain meds, pain pills, and a prescription for more pain meds. All for $450. Hallelujah. I was expecting to be gouged. Nope. Extremely reasonable for an emergency visit. Not only are they reasonably priced, the vet techs are considerate, friendly, personable, and genuinely caring. In addition, the doctor took his time and gave us a very detailed, comprehensive lesson in how my dog is doing. I was very satisfied. We will definitely be back. Horrible customer service! I will never take my dog there again. I had him go in for a dental cleaning and when I walked in to pick him up they forgot I was there of course only after I paid $300 for the service. They finally brought him out. His face was wet actually looked drenched like they poured a cup of water on his face before bringing him out. My dog kept on making a weird wheezing sound and sounded congested. After an hour of being home I called to ask if his symptoms were normal but the response I received was less than adequate. The vet tech relayed the message from the vet, if his symptoms persist give him children's Benadryl. What?!? Like what dose or why would I do that. This is definitely the last time I will go there. Usually Crossroads is fantastic, but there is a new doctor (at least new to me and he isn't listed on their website), Dr. Gibson, who has a HORRIBLE bedside manner. He got irritated because we decided not to do the $1000 + treatment that he "spent all that time doing an estimate for" - he actually said this to us. Isn't that the purpose of an estimate??? After expensive tests to see what was wrong with our dog (and with no diagnosis), he then prescribed medicine for something that the dog tested negative for. It seems as if he was just trying to get us to spend as much money as possible. He was arrogant, rude, and completely unprofessional. Again, Crossroads Animal Hospital has always been a good clinic. The other doctors and the staff are always friendly and helpful, it was just this one doctor who really gave us a bad experience. We will not stop going to Crossroads, but we will make sure he is not the one who sees our pets. read more

I am kind of disappointed in this hospital. I came to bring my 4 month old kitten for his 2nd PRC and I only came here because the previous owner from the litter he came from brought him here. Their staff is excellent and nice but it's very unfortunate that they're not informative on everything that you're getting charged for. I am on a budget and when they asked if I wanted feline leukemia test, I said yes but only for that. I asked for pricing and it would have been around $100 (PCR & Leukemia test) and when I was ready to pay they said it was $134.40 and I asked why and they charged me for a rabies shot. Mind you, I didn't mind paying for that because it's vital for my kitten to have but to not be informed of the procedure or even told that that was done on my cat makes me upset. I took in my baby kitty for cremation and when I picked her up they handed me a tin that literally looks like a cookie tin. And the worst part is that they didn't make me her paw prints!! Their lame excuse was that I didn't ask for one. REALLY! Why would I have to ask for one if I'm taking my fur baby for cremation the least I would want is to have her paw print, why wouldn't I. And if I didn't ask for one is because I was too devastated, I thought it would come with the service. If I didn't want it I could of took her to the humane society and had her disposed of for FREE!! Took my guinea pig for a second opinion on her teeth as a vet from a different clinic said according to x-rays there were points on her teeth that needed filing down. Dr. Mark Lenox took the time to review the x-rays and explain things better. Went back with guinea pig, Dr. Lenox sedated her and checked her teeth to find there was NOTHING wrong with them at all, perfectly healthy teeth. A little holiday doggie mishap sent us to the vet during our Christmas vacation. Luckily, the great staff at Crossroads was there to help! We've been taking our family dogs to the Crossroads clinic for over 10 years now. So, I was glad that when I was back in my hometown I was able to go back to some vets I trust. Dr. Koschmann and Dr. Callaham have always been especially helpful. Although, the whole staff is always cheery and friendly. They have always proved to be especially compassionate people. When we lost our terrier in 99' they sent us the kindest sympathy card. Their staff was so caring in our time of need that their actions still hold a soft spot in my heart to this day. Because of their great service and exceptional kindness is why they take care of our other two terriers to this day. read more

This practice came recommended to me by three people so I felt comfortable making an appointment for my dog's annual exam and vax. As a vet's kid for 35+ years, I know exactly how a vet clinic should run and this was NOT it. We had to wait in the street risking being hit because the parking lot is the size of a postage stamp with not enough spaces for whatever they are running and zero option to turn. Had to wait for someone to leave and it almost made us late and we got there 15 mins early (clue #1). The front desk staff is the first impression of any practice and this one is inept. Receptionist didn't even say hello when we tried to check in and the girls at desk didn't look up. She told us to go find a seat. Had NO idea we were new clients and didn't even check for an appointment. First impressions matter and the front desk is missing the boat big time (clue #2). When I turned to find an open seat, it looked like an unruly preschool with so many humans and animals with a tv blaring in the waiting room. What is this place, actually? (clue #3) Don't bother making an appointment as walk-ins flow in off the street like a river and they let them right in to very room you are waiting for. We watched at least 3 go before us (clue #4). After waiting 40 minutes I went to the front and asked the receptionist how much longer it would be and that we had been waiting 40 mins. She looked at some files and flippantly stated it would be at least another 30 mins. NOPE. I told her we would not be back. Biggest waste of time in a super unprofessionally run clinic. Sounds like it's time for them to retire, folks. Cranky staff usually comes from a poorly run clinic with cranky vets. No thank you. read more

I scheduled my cats an appointment and didn't love this clinic at all. I found the exam rooms dirty with dust and trash on the floor, especially in the corners. The Doctor who came in was not professional. She kept using slang words and talking about google, nothing to do with my cats. The lady who scheduled our next appointment, which we canceled, was more concerned about talking with a lady about personal dog boarding than providing me with information about our surgery appointment. After waiting there for a few minutes, I asked her for details, and she gave me incorrect information that contradicted what the doctor told me to do. When I asked for information about pet insurance, she looked confused and dug over on the shelf for some information. She handed me a card and that was it. I did not feel like my animals were put number one, I did not feel like Crossroads has pride in it's business, and I did not feel comfortable enough to bring my babies for second appointment. Despite having been clients of this clinic for over 20 years, we discontinued services there and transferred to another veterinary clinic after our Golden Retriever died as a result of what appeared to be neglect, lack of monitoring by the staff while he was under their care, and insensitivity to our needs. He additionally suffered greatly prior to his death. Although we respect some of the staff at the clinic, there is no excuse for the suffering and eventual death that our dog experienced from the veterinarian who was treating him and the technicians who did not monitor his treatment.
