(And no it's not a "therapy session" - it's just a very thorough conversation about color options where he helps guide you to discovering what is the best color choice for you). By the end of it, we'd decided on a color I had not initially been considered (a lovely blueish teal), which I had worried would be too dark, or too similar to the home's previous color. First: for those starting this process of choosing a contractor, do your due diligence and check your painter's name, company's name, and license number. You may be surprised by the results--I know I was. Watercolors has a license in good standing, employee insurance, and is bonded. The license is held 100% by the owner, Jason Weihrauch, an upright person who stands behind his workers and delivers personal attention. Second: consider the written bid. A bid should be detailed about the specific materials that will be used. Jason's bid included the products, number of coats of paint, expected prep work, and even the port-a-potty. Third: the job itself. Watercolors did extensive and complete prep work. They even, for an extra agreed upon (more than fair) amount, fixed some window sills with termite damage. My neighbor was so impressed with the job that transformed my old deck, they hired Watercolors that day! And they were quite pleased with the result as well. This btw was both interior and exterior painting. Even did some patching that the drywall people missed. Good follow up and review of the work as it progressed. I had a quote in hand from a contractor we knew, thought it might be high so I started looking at other options. Tried to get multiple quotes from local Gilroy painters, only Tim responded and he also did excellent follow-up. Work was done very professionally; they spent a great deal of time pressure washing the trim and also cleaned the stucco exterior walls as well! Prep work done correctly is clearly very time consuming and Tim's crew was very careful to mask off and protect the areas not being painted. I think they must have used a ton of caulking as there were weathering and expansion cracks and gaps to be filled in the wood everywhere. Work was completed on 11/5/2021, looks incredible ! The main portion of the house is a robin's egg hue with a darker accent wall that hosts a gorgeous seashore painting that pulls all the colors together.
