I wanted to share a concern about my experience during check-in for my procedure…read more When I arrived, I was informed by the front desk that I had a $45 copay. I explained that I was not told about this when my appointment was confirmed, and because I was coming in for a procedure, I did not bring cash or credit cards with me. The front desk staff member said she would speak with Dr. Edmunds. When she returned, she stated that if I could not pay the $45 copay, I would need to reschedule because the office is cracking down on collecting copays. She then asked if I could borrow the money from my driver. Thankfully, my driver was able to help me, but the situation was very frustrating and embarrassing. My concern is that I had already taken the day off work, followed the preparation instructions, fasted, arranged transportation, and showed up ready for my procedure. To be told at that point that my procedure could possibly be canceled over a $45 copay was very upsetting. I completely understand that offices have policies regarding copays and patient responsibility. However, if those policies are going to be strictly enforced, I believe patients should be informed ahead of time, especially before a scheduled procedure. A courtesy call or reminder letting the patient know the amount due at check-in would help avoid situations like this. I am not refusing to pay my copay, but I do feel the communication could have been handled better. Patients should not find out the day of a procedure, after fasting and making arrangements, that their appointment may be canceled due to a payment they were not made aware of in advance. I hope this concern can be reviewed so future patients are properly informed before their procedure day.

Surgery prep was very simple and quick, went into surgery room about 1030. Awake around 1100 and out the door at 1115. Care was very nice and the nurses are personable. I gave 4 stars due to the wait time and waiting area size. Experience is the best I have ever had for a colonoscopy.

Requests go to voicemail that they never respond to. The doctors are long on opinions but don't offer any healing advise. I'd suggest going to a different GI group.

Having personally experienced the good and the not so good over the years it is always a helpful perspective as you go through an appointment. Blount was a referral by our primary doc so our knowledge and experience offered a fairly fresh and eyes open experience. The location was easy to find and parking was convenient. We were greeted by the receptionist and quickly processed for our appointment, we arrive ahead of the scheduled meeting time. Our PA seemed kind (as did most of the staff) and the pre-visit particulars went well. This was the end (sadly) of the pleasant patient experience. We then sat for over 45 minutes in an exam room waiting on the Doc, no staff to stop in and say how are you, sorry we are running late, the Doc will be with you momentarily, can we get you anything ? Finally after no contact what so ever we threw in the towel and politely excuse ourselves at the front desk and hot footed it to the exit and parking lot - in hindsight a good decision. Here are a few of the flags we observed: Older facility, crowded clinical admin area (this sight is also where the procedures are done) Exam rooms for patients with paper thin walls which allow you to hear the private conversations between patient and doctor next door No visible state of the art equipment, clinical tools products in the exam rooms Clinicians in the building that were underwhelming in their presentation, experience and seemingly part of a volume front end of the business vs. client first mentality. If you are looking for a AA GI experience I suggest you pass of this one and keep looking.
