Terrible practice. They are constantly accepting new patients, when they don't even have appointments available for the established patients. I've tried 3 times in the past year to get in to see my doctor, only to be told the earliest appointment is 5 months out or longer. Yet they are STILL accepting new patients. If I could post this without a star I would, I have been trying to get my daughters GI issues with mild bleeding, all they do is schedule tests and never call you back with results or treatment. Today, I had 2 calls to nurse line and finally send a fax for them to call and say... go to ER. WOW! This place is terrible and I will never ever go back they don't care about patients, they just care about collecting that insurance and co-pays. I was referred by my PCP. It took more than 6 months of phone calls for them to finally return a call to tell me they would not see me because of my insurance. They still refused to see me even when I offered to pay cash up front. Pitiful My husband was referred as well. He actually was seen 9/27/22. He was told he would be scheduled for procedures the following week. That was two months ago. In the mean time my husband has lost 60 lbs and vomits daily. Needless to say he is going elsewhere. These people obviously do not care about their referrals or patients they have seen. I cannot express my disappointment and disgust in this practice. They came highly recommend...that's a joke. The practice is fine, I have no beef with the doctors/nurses. I was FORCED to change physicians due to switch in medical insurance coverage with work. When it switched again the next year, I was told I was a "discharged patient" and I couldn't come BACK! Idiotic business practice! read more

The infusion department called an hour before a regular routine infusion and said they wouldn't do it because my insurance co owes them money. We discussed it being my last one this year, my inability to wait due to my current condition, and the unlikelihood of being scheduled in before the end of huge year. Infusion nurse Kendra said i could come. I hung up, drove starting there, Becky checked me in and gave me the pass for the infusion. I was told to weigh myself and get a chair. My vitals were off - BP and pulse high but attributed to the situation. I was given premeds orally. The nurse Melanie stuck me with the needle, leaving the syringe hanging until they would hook me up to the IV bag. I started to relax, thinking I would be getting the medication required for me to treat my illness. Twenty minutes later they came back and said they wouldn't be giving me the infusion. I panicked... here I am literally ready to go and they decide to deny me the medication I need to survive. I was thrown out of the office when I tried to argue about it. They didn't check my vitals again, which at this point had to be worse than when I arrived. I went to my car where i called my insurance co and had a panic attack. After two hours on the phone, it was clear the doctors office hadn't properly submitted the claims. I repeat... this entire situation was due to the incompetence of GIA, I had no opportunity to be involved. While I was on the phone with my ins co, in the parking lot of GiA, less than an hour after they kicked me out, Dr Jeffrey Gilbert sent a message on the portal he was terminating the relationship due to how I treated his staff... (not concerned with how they had treated me I guess). He noted in said letter that I have a serious medical condition which requires attention. Yet he didn't give me the medicine I needed today and will not give it to me in the time in which I need it. Why? Because he cares more about money than the Hippocratic oath. This is being reported to the state licensing board one can only hope these disgraceful excuses for medical providers are prevented from inflicting this type of trauma on sick patients going forward. Additionally, when I showed up earlier in the week for an appointment, the desk said it had been cancelled by accident and that I wasn't the first person it had happened to. This was quite honestly the worst experience with a physician I have ever had. The front office staff were friendly and I had limited wait time. However, the time with the actual physician was TERRIBLE. From the beginning to end of the visit I had to fight for her to listen to my complaints. All that was wanted was a scope, which was unnecessary in my case. I left with the diagnosis that I came in telling her I knew I had and had to fight to make her look and identify on her own. Then, she handed me an "educational sheet" that had information opposite of what she had told me and did not review any of it with me, I'm sure so that she could chart "educated patient on ________". Then she wanted to have me back in 2 weeks - for what?? To pay another $135 office visit for her to not listen to me? I am so frustrated with our healthcare system's infatuation with making money rather than properly caring for patients. read more

As a precaution I had to have a PEG tube (feeding tube) put in because I was getting ready to have chemo and radiation to my throat which meant there was a chance that I wouldn't be able to swallow. My radiation doctor contacted GIA to schedule an appointment, after about 1-2 weeks, "of review" I was finally contacted to schedule an appointment with Dr. Meyers. Dr Meyers was friendly and saw the urgency because my treatments would be starting in about a week and got me worked in for the surgery in two days which was great. After the surgery though the only instructions I received from him was, "you can remove the gauze tomorrow", "you can take a shower tomorrow", "do not submerge in water for at least a month" & "let me know when you are ready to have it removed". After a few days of yellow fluid leaking around the tube I contacted Dr. Meyers' nurse and she told me to let home health look at it. After a few more days of the same yellow fluid leaking out of it I stopped by GIA, because they are next door to my radiation treatment, just to see if someone from there could look at it that day or maybe the next. The Covid screener at the front ask me what I needed and I told her I thought I may have an infection and told her Dr Meyers had done the procedure, which was the wrong thing to do, then she informed me he was a busy man wasn't there at the moment and I couldn't just stop by and see him at any time and informed me that I needed to go to the ER. I tried explaining to her that I didn't necessarily need to see the DR I just wanted someone from GIA to look at it to see if everything looked ok but what got stuck in her head was that I wanted to see Dr Meyers at which point she picks up the phone and calls the DR's nurse and says "there's a guy here that thinks his PEG tube is infected and wants to see DR Meyers but he just needs to go to the ER, right?" at which point the DR's nurse says "YES"! All I wanted was to be looked at by someone that is familiar with PEG Tubes and they wanted me to go to the ER and spend a couple thousand more dollars and who knows how many hours waiting to have someone say "yes it is infected" or "no it's not infected". It's kinda like buying tires from a tire shop and you think maybe a wheel is loose so you ask them to check it and they tell you to take your car to a dealer. I'm hoping that I can find another DR to remove the tube, I DO NOT want to go back to this place! PS: The gauze that I could "remove the next day" is being removed every day and replaced with new gauze because after 42 days it is still leaking that same yellow fluid. read more

dr. Hadak refused to allow me to keep my appointment with him because I had seen another doctor for many years. My previous doctor was not in my Medicare network and that was the reason I had to change to another GI doctor.. I was referred to Dr. Haydak by my internist. This was a hateful, uncalled for and I was told to get another doctor. I was treated terrible. I managed a medical clinic for 33 years with numerous doctors and not one would have treated a patient the way this one did me. I told him what he could do with his practice. read more

I have been a patient with GIA for several years. I get regular infusions and Interact with the staff every two months. I have always felt as though they cared about me. No practice this large will be perfect, but they have always made me feel comfortable and they have gone out of their way to help me, either with insurance or with understanding my diagnosis. Dr Newman has always been direct and honest. She was even willing to admit when things were outside her comfort level. I appreciate them for their continued care and for very likely saving my life. read more

Dr. Altawil closed the appointment with the final statement, "I'm not here to argue with you. I'm not starting an argument with you. I'm not judging you. I don't care about you at all. When I walk out of this room I'll see the next patient & never think about you again. You don't matter to me in any way." After he argued against every word I said & told me he can't be my doctor because I won't tell him he's right I'm wrong about which symptoms I get, when I get them, how long they last, & how I prevent them. My husband was re-assigned to Dr. Maria Newman after his original Dr. passed away. He had no choice in who he was assigned to... He has endured two visits with her at this point, and refuses to go back. She was late by 1.5 hours at the last appointment. No apology was given. Dr Newman has zero bedside manner. It feels like she doesn't care about her patients. This leads us to worry about the care she is providing in general. However, with GIA, they won't let you switch Physicians. So at this point, after 10+ years, we will be switching to a new group. read more

Horrible patient care. I went in for hemorrhoids, set up a surgery with Jeffery Gilbert for hemorrhoids, yes, when it came for my surgery, they wanted to do a cancer screening and that was it. I have suffered greatly with my health condition and meet the doctors of this establishment for my health condition, and yet they just did what they wanted to do without informing me until the day of the surgery. Can you imagine doing the colonoscopy prep for surgery only to find out from the surgery nurse that they were not doing what you went in for. When I asked what they were going to do, the nurse said a cancer screening. You also have to watch out using your money in this office. I went in for a surgery that had to put out $1500.00. They took my money, and then decided to do a procedure that was free from my insurance provider. These doctors are nothing more than a Doctorate in Scamming. And then when they didn't do the surgery I was diagnosed for and left the surgery center with my money, they sent me a certified letter to never go back. As a woman, I was a little uneasy to have a colonoscopy done, however my doctor was very professional, made me feel at ease, caring, and he explained everything to me in words that I could understand. I recommended Dr. Huffman to my brother in-law and he fixed a problem that had been missed for years by other doctors.
