I explained that I was not told about this when my appointment was confirmed, and because I was coming in for a procedure, I did not bring cash or credit cards with me. The front desk staff member said she would speak with Dr. Edmunds. When she returned, she stated that if I could not pay the $45 copay, I would need to reschedule because the office is cracking down on collecting copays. She then asked if I could borrow the money from my driver. Thankfully, my driver was able to help me, but the situation was very frustrating and embarrassing. My concern is that I had already taken the day off work, followed the preparation instructions, fasted, arranged transportation, and showed up ready for my procedure. To be told at that point that my procedure could possibly be canceled over a $45 copay was very upsetting. I completely understand that offices have policies regarding copays and patient responsibility. However, if those policies are going to be strictly enforced, I believe patients should be informed ahead of time, especially before a scheduled procedure. A courtesy call or reminder letting the patient know the amount due at check-in would help avoid situations like this. I am not refusing to pay my copay, but I do feel the communication could have been handled better. Patients should not find out the day of a procedure, after fasting and making arrangements, that their appointment may be canceled due to a payment they were not made aware of in advance. I hope this concern can be reviewed so future patients are properly informed before their procedure day.

My appointment was at 12:30 which was a little late since I hadn't eaten since the night before. At 1:30 I asked very politely if she knew how much longer it would be and she made sure I was the last patient of the day. Didn't get out until 4 pm, was sick the rest of the day. Asked to speak with Dr Edmunds before the procedure started to talk about a heart condition. They would not let me talk to him and further more never even saw him. The girl that started my IV was nice but did not use sterile technique, she took the cap off the tubing and laid it on the bed. The guy working with Dr Edmunds shoved a bite block in my mouth and said this is to protect your teeth and mouth, when I woke up and for 3 weeks after I had blisters the covered the inside of my lower lip. When I asked about making my co pay the girl at the desk said I had a credit of almost 300 dollars. I hadn't seen the Edmunds for 3 to 5 years and I still had a credit. So I asked her to go ahead and give me a refund and she said I don't know about that, I'll have to talk to my manager about that and it could take up to 60 days. I said that's ok, I still want a refund. It's been a month and she never talked to the manger about the refund. I love Dr Edmonds, he's aways done right by me except for this time. I will not being going back to be treated this way. I am a 68 year old woman with diabetes. Why would I put myself through that again.

Waiting less than an hour is a rarity that would feel like a miracle. The front desk staff openly acknowledges that lengthy waits are the norm, but this does not excuse the over an hour and a half delay I experienced during my last visit. Observing the frustration among fellow patients, including a concerned mother worried about picking up her children and an elderly gentleman who passed out and was sawing logs, was disheartening. The policy of charging patients for being late while the doctor's time seems to have no such value is a glaring double standard. A delay of a few minutes is understandable, but when hours are lost, it's a clear sign of disrespect and a lack of professionalism. It's evident that overbooking is a strategy here, prioritizing financial gain over patient care. While the doctor's qualifications are not in question, no level of expertise justifies the disregard for patients' time. We all have lives beyond these walls and deserve the same punctuality we strive to provide. Until this fundamental issue is addressed, I cannot recommend this facility. It pains me to leave Dr. Edmunds. Until he hires Temple Grandin to refine the process of hearding and moving his cattle, Ooops, I mean patients through an appointment, I am looking elsewhere.

She is rude, dismissive, condescending, arrogant, uncaring, unkind, and lacks what it takes to be a good medical provider. The calls to her are seldom returned, usually taking several calls and many days of waiting, and they do not read the portal, which was confirmed by the office manager. I have been amazed how poor this physician and her staff represents themselves. I am so sorry I took my parents there for this ridiculous insult and waste of precious time. UT needs to look into her so called practice. Shame on her!!!

Dr Juan Benitez became my gastro man after Dr. Crist retired. I should have checked his reviews…read more Starting in September I had some gastric issues and finally got an appt. Not particularly helpful or informative. My gut pain continued to worsen and finally in December I had an emergency appt. and was told I had IBS. There was no mention of my ulcer. I ended up in the emergency room and after a 12 hour wait and massive discomfort they decided to give me an enima. There was no blockage or anything. There was no need for an enima. He prescribed Linzess and provided me 4 days of samples. The sample didn't have any effect really. The prescription was $545 for a 30 day supply. for something that doesn't drmatically change my life at all I am not paying. I went to my GP, Dr. Andrew Goins, who carefully read my whole med history and he fixed me. Practically overnight. Those 4 months of pain and brain fog could have been avoided with a person that reads my chart completely.

Gross Negligence, Missed Diagnoses, and Dangerous Retaliation…read more Avoid Dr. Canning and his PA, Laura Hensley, at all costs. I was a patient at this office for over a year, and during that entire time, they completely misdiagnosed and ignored my real health problems. They fake being compassionate while stringing you along with continual visits, treatments, and biopsies just to line their pockets instead of actually finding out what is wrong with you. Under their care, I suffered multiple serious medication errors. They completely failed to run necessary testing for critical diagnoses, entirely missing a serious viral stomach infection. Refused work up on my EPI DX. I have a clotting disorder and in the end ended up with a clot in my portal vein a direct result of ignoring the viral infection in my stomach. The moment I finally fired Dr. Canning for this gross negligence, his office actively retaliated against me. When my PCP finally ran the right tests and found my diagnoses, I tried to set up urgent treatment with a different GI group. Dr. Canning actually went into the system and placed messages through portal to other providers to block me from getting the treatment I desperately needed, instructing them not to see or treat me. This practice is manipulative, negligent, and actively puts patient safety at risk. Go somewhere else if you want accurate testing, honest doctors, and ethical medical care.
