It's a guessing game at this vet. 1st time in for kennel cough with x-rays was $329. Second time was $529 and was told it would be and additional $500 to send x-rays to someone qualified to read them if my dog didn't get better. I'm done here. read more

This vet is expensive will never my 3 dogs here. Don't want to work with pet parents with cancellation policy I had back surgery and couldn't make it to my dogs apt and so I called them and they wouldn't even work with me on the cancellation policy then one of my dogs had a elevated liver enzyme wanted to fix her and good thing. I waited because I transferred all three of my dogs to another vet and found out that the liver enzymes were elevated and was told previously that they were comfortable putting her under anesthesia and come to find out they were elevated in the first place then quoted me like 500 and something and took my dog to her nova and got her fixed and paid like $200 cheaper than I would've paid if Meadowbrook would have fixed her and on top of it have other medical problems and each time that I've had to cancel it has been for a valid reason and yet still want me to pay a fee just to book my appointment of $50. Yes, I understand you use that $50 for the deposit. I just don't think they should charge that. I just don't think it's right how this practice treats their pet parents never will bring my dogs back there ever again. read more

We're done with this practice, which we've been using for our dogs since moving to Northville over 7 years ago. We were on the verge of switching vets last year, because we found the office atmosphere-and the "bedside" manner of the vets cold and impersonal. Every time we came in, we were treated as if it was the first time, and nobody seemed to remember us or our pets. The receptionist and vet techs don't wear name tags and don't introduce themselves, which feels very unprofessional. The only reasons we stayed were that our senior dog was dying, and a new vet there, Dr. Krista Stone, turned out to be helpful and compassionate and we were happy to work with her. Yesterday, we took our 5-month-old puppy to Meadowbrook to be spayed. I was told to expect 2 phone calls: one from Dr. Bertolucci, after the surgery, and a later one from the staff, with a pick up time. By 6 pm we were frantic with worry, and called the office, where we were told that someone had called us with a 5 pm pick-up time. We had received no voicemails or missed calls that day. Upon arriving to pick up our dog, we were told that someone had called that afternoon asking for an update on their puppy, and had been told that the operation went well and she could pick up her pet after 5. I took the initiative of calling Meadowbrook Animal Hospital in Rochester, to inquire whether they had had a client yesterday who called the wrong Meadowbrook. They confirmed this had indeed happened, however, the pet concerned was neither female nor canine. It was a male cat named Fluffy who was being neutered. So not only did the Meadowbrook Novi staff not ask for the name of the client and patient, they obviously weren't even paying attention to the type of animal concerned. I don't see how you can confuse a male cat with a female dog. The kicker is that when I phoned Dr. Joseph Osbourne, the owner of the Meadowbrook/Breckenridge practice, he was not at all receptive to my suggestion that-at a minimum-his staff be instructed to find out who is calling and about what pet. He was irritated and defensive. He seemed to feel it was completely reasonable for his staff to assume I was the caller. There was no empathy whatsoever with how concerned we had been, and only a perfunctory "I apologize." read more

Everyone at Meadowbrook, from the front desk to Doctors have been so friendly and accommodating administering care for Booner, I couldn't be happier leaving him in their hands! If I could give them negative, I would. They are terrible. The older lady vet was very rude about my 4 month old puppy getting excited to see her. She kept telling me he needs to be trained (which I'm well aware) because he mouths and whines when new people come in. When she walked in, she didn't say hi, or look at the puppy, she just got annoyed that he was excited, told me to put him on the table, and gave him two shots and continued to tell me how he wasn't trained enough (again, 4 month old). This review does not reflect the work of the vet, she was actually very thorough and polite. This is reflective of the attitude and service of the front staff, specifically the male associate. I have never seen more rude and impatient associate. I had to fight with him to get information and figure out pricing on potential procedures. In the end he just left without scheduling any of them. Mid sentence. I have never seen anything like this. You don't have to smile or even be nice to patients thats not part of your job but being thorough and providing full information as well as scheduling procedures that most certainly is. Dr Osborne mocked me when I told him my Bella couldn't swallow or eat and was gurgling in her throat. I took her to Vet select in Novi They found a tumor the size of a fist growing in her throat ,she had to be put down. It's all about money for him. read more

I took my dog, a Chihuahua, here on the recommendation of a friend. I was so pleased with the care the staff gave us, and then REALLY surprised by how affordable the bill was at the end! I used to dread taking my dog to the vet for his yearly check-up knowing I would get hit with a $300-400 bill, but the veterinarians at Meadowbrook make real-life recommendations as though they are caring for their own pets. Now I have three kittens, and we have mapped out a plan for their care. I don't feel as though they are "up-selling" services and extra vaccines, so I trust them when they make suggestions. Staff was very friendly at the beginning. The last two times I was there, It was more a waiting session ... I had an appointment and still had to wait over 20 min, just sitting in the patient room without any notice. Second time in the middle of the day, no one else was there, all patient rooms were empty. I was ask three times what I want and what is the reason for my visit ... afterwards I was sitting for almost half an hour in the patient room, again without any notice .... I went out and asked if some one is coming or what is the reason for waiting? After a minute eventually a doctor showed up, after 10 min we could leave. Certainly after paying the bill but no apologize for the long wait ... only a short note about an emergency ... really??? A third time is not going to be happening ... don't want to waste my time. Another vet on 8 mile in the area is a Hit, short waiting time, friendly staff and a good counseling ... exactly as it should be. read more

I've been taking my pets to Meadowbrook for 12 years. They've been great with my rescue dog, who had hookworm, heartworm and dental issues in the past year. The staff know Elvis by name and even nicknamed him "Lake Elvis" for his tendency to pee as soon as he walks in the door. They're really great about that - they never act annoyed or put out when he has an indoor accident and always clean it up with zero attitude. Prices are pretty average for vet services. Dr. Christlieb (the owner) is great. He's very gentle and caring with my dog, as is everyone. One time, one of the assistants helped pull my cat out from under the front seat of my car, where he wedged himself on the ride over (don't worry, kitty rides in a carrier now). They even bandaged my wound when my cat went all Tasmanian Devil on us during a routine visit. Good people. read more

I've been taking my pets to Meadowbrook and Breckenridge Clinics for almost 15 years. Last year, I rescued a 3 week old kitten and they were wonderful with him. He was very constipated, which is a dangerous thing for a tiny kitten, so they helped me help him poop. This year, my husband adopted a puppy from the Humane Society, and they've been great with her, too. It's clear that everyone who works there (not just the docs) loves animals. read more

The doctors at Meadowbrook and Breckenridge Clinics are absolutely the best anywhere. Since my English Bulldog was a puppy they have been taking care of her. As most Bulldogs do, she has quite a few health issues and everyone has been addressed with care. I highly recommend these doctors to all my friends and would like to do so here as well. read more

I use this place and its associated place Breckinridge and I really like the people and care you get there. The staff seems pretty interested and sort of invested in the pets that come in. Pricing is fair and I haven't had them try to upsell me. When my dog was going on the heartworm treatment they were very upfront with low end and high end costs. This vet does not care about the well being of the animal. They have had my cat on a prescription to make him poop for a while now. Apparently 2 years, and at two years they want to se ethe cat. Which I have no problem with. What I do have a problem with is that they tell me the day I'm re ordering his medicine when he's out. And won't give me any medicine to get him by for a few days until I can get him in. Mind you a cat will DIE if they can't poop. He can't poop with out his meds and he can't go days without it. He will DIE not pooping is very dangerous for a cat. And I was told it's my job to know that I have to bring him in, not theirs to inform me. They NEVER said I needed him to be seen last time I picked up meds. Or anytime this last 2 years of getting refills. will be finding a new vet. read more

I have been to both locations and had great experiences. One rude receptionist, but everybody has a bad day. I find the Dr's to be very caring, smart and conservative. Yesterday we had to put down our beloved Bella. We had been taking her to Meadowbrook Veterinary Clinic for several years. She was a Bichon-Pekinese mix and a very sweet companion. She had cancer when she was a young pup of 1 year which she had removed. Ever since whenever we spotted a new cyst or bump on her we would take her in for a verification that it was not the cancer returning. Last year we noticed a tumor on her right rear hind quarter. We had just had her in for an exam and shots just prior to finding this tumor. We returned to see Dr. Osborne and a biopsy confirmed that it was indeed cancer, but by this time the tumor had grown too large to be effectively removed with margins. Dr. Osborne had totally missed this tumor even when draining Bella's glands, which is where he should have noticed the tumor. He did offer to remove the tumor surgically and was quick to try to schedule a surgery, he told us that Bella only had a few months left. That was last November. My wife who is terminally ill found the Animal Cancer and Imaging Center in Canton where we took Bella for evaluation. They were surprised that Dr. Osborne didn't tell us about this clinic that specializes in the treatment of cancers in animals. Unfortunately Bella was not a candidate for surgical removal and we tried the chemo treatment which she did not tolerate well. The Vet's there told us that this was a slow growing tumor and that Bella could possibly live out her normal lifespan as she was already 14 years old. We decided to put it in God's hands and let her enjoy her remaining time she had left without medication making her more uncomfortable. Recently Bella developed a bout of pancreatitis. We took her to Dr. Osborne for treatment. Due to Covid-19, we could not go into the clinic, so we asked Dr. Osborne if he could take a minute and come out to the car so we could discuss Bella's health issues with him. He finally walked out to the car with arms crossed as if we were disturbing him. My wife explained the issues that Bella had been having. She told him that she was choking while eating, drinking and sleeping and had difficulty breathing. He rolled his eyes and looked over at me and asked "Bob?, Bob?" as if my wife was exaggerating or lying to him about our precious Bella's symptoms. This was not the first time we had brought up these symptoms to him. He took Bella into the clinic and diagnosed the pancreatitis and prescribed some medication. He told us that if we had any problems to call him and let him know since he would be working the next day Saturday. Well Bella's symptoms started to get worse during the night and early Saturday morning we put a call in to Dr. Osborne to please call us. The return call didn't come until Tuesday morning. We had already taken her to the Emergency Vet as we didn't want Bella for continue to suffer until Dr. Osborne could find time to call us back. After that incident we changed to Vet Select in Novi where we received excellent care from a very caring and compassionate staff that spent considerable time reviewing Bella's health condition with us. Unfortunately Bella was diagnosed with a tumor the size of a small orange that was blocking her esophagus and windpipe causing her choking and breathing condition. This should have been caught much sooner by Dr. Osborne when my wife told him that Bella was choking alot. He just didn't listen and spent very little time discussing Bella's health issues with us. Unfortunately there were no longer any treatment options for Bella and we had to make the most painful decision a pet owner has to make but to let her go to Heaven. We believe that Bella could have had additional time with us if Dr. Osborne had listened to us and did an x-ray of Bella's throat. It is a shame that we thought the cancer tumor on her rear thigh was going to be what took Bella away, but instead it was the tumor in her throat that was totally missed by Dr. Osborne. If you love your pets, find a different vet that will take the time and discuss your pet's symptoms with you instead of spending only a few minutes with you and running off to the next victim. You will enjoy your pet longer! read more

I took my dog in this evening due to a raw and painful tail. I was immediately met with a rude, sarcastic and glib woman behind the desk. She immediately scolded me for not making an appointment. I started to let it slide and stated that I would have made an appointment if I knew he had an injury earlier in the week. She immediately replied "You knew you were coming when you drove here. You need an appointment next time." That was it, I had had it! I told her she had a nasty attitude and left. NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!! WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE!!! read more

I just took our Wheaten Terrier to Meadowbrook and Breckenridge Veterinary Clinic (Dr. Gretchen Kronsbein, DVM) for an ear infection. We have gone to another good clinic since Marley was born but it was so far away (40 min. drive) that I wanted to try someplace closer that this clinic had been recommended. I was so impressed with Dr. Kronsbein - she spent so much time getting to know Marley on the floor - which is where she did the exam and treatment - so much more comfortable for an anxious animal! At our previous clinic, he urinated on the table every time we went out of fright! They also treat small mammals. I would highly recommend Dr. Kronsbein! read more

We scheduled a teeth cleaning service here because they gave us a written estimate of $170.00 plus what ever tooth extraction costs may come up during the procedure. Our dog also was going to have a Lumpectomy done to have a bump removed from his eye. We called Breckenridge to make the appointment with out a problem and received a reminder call the night before from the Meadowbrook phone number to give instructions on not to feed that dog that night. During the call they didn't mention that it was going to be done at the Meadowbrook facility and not at Breckenridge where we made the appointment. The following morning we arrive at Breckenridge to walk up to lock doors, then have to drive 20 minutes to Meadowbrook, not only making us late for the drop off but also late for work. Once we arrived the employee was nothing short of rude and sassy from the minute we walked in. "Well your dog has never been here before..." "We are going to need your vaccinations then..." "Oh no we cant call Vetselect! They won't give us anything! YOUR going to have to do it!" We then asked the lady for the fax number, she had no idea where it was and found us a magnet with it on it. After the procedure was complete we came to get the dog and our now $450 bill. The only tooth that needed to come out was $22. They charged us an addition $66 for bloodwork which was assumed to be in the price because no where on their estimate did it say that it would be an add-on cost.The Lumpectomy was $178 comparable quotes were $45... Being uncomfortable with our experience I contacted the owner of this business DR. Joseph P. Osbourne D.V First he said that the receptionist was just out of high school and very new to the job. He hired her cause she is a friends daughter. He also admitted that they send people to the wrong location all of the time and he even does it sometimes. Second he argued with me that it was very clearly stated in fine print just under the bold print estimate but did agree that it no where said "additional cost" or "not built into the estimate". (No I didn't get any money back) And lastly he just kept making excuses the the unfriendly receptionist, saying, "Well she can get grumpy when answering a lot of phone calls... But shes a really nice person!" By the way his idea of reconciliation "Would it make you feel better if I made her call and apologize?" Just go someplace else... We will be going back to Vetselect. read more

A couple weeks ago I purchased my first puppy although it's been super exciting I was also very nervous when it came time to take him to the vet. I looked all around Google read every review there was and ended up coming to Meadowbrook veterinary clinic for his second round of shots. I have never been so pleased with customer service in my entire life, from making my first appointment, to when it came time to actually bring him in, every single person in that office treated me and my dog with respect the doctor called me personally after the appointment to tell me how it went and how my puppy was doing. I also work for a doctor so I know that during the pandemic it's stressful, I know that right now there's a lot of unknown and it's driving people crazy but what I can say is that this appointment went better than any appointment I've had in the last five years I am so grateful for Dr. Bertolucci and the team that took care of my myself and Coco thank you so much for a wonderful experience read more

Not going there anymore! I've been here and their sister location- Breckenridge several times and I must say, not impressed, especially with their young vet. I usually go there for the routine vaccinations bc my dog goes to daycare and requires them but I've also been there at least twice for more serious health concerns with my dog and twice he has been absolutely wrong! The first time my dog was paralyzed for a day and night due to medication they gave him (which I found out it was a side effect online but they told me to keep giving it to him). I was crying and scared the whole time. Fortunately once the medicine wore off, he started getting better. The second time, good thing I got a second opinion by another vet because again it was incorrect diagnosis and treatment plan! Soooo done with this place! I found a new place to visit! The new vet was so friendly and explained every step so I knew exactly what was going on and understand the diagnosis and treatment. read more

I cannot express enough how HORRIBLE my experience has been with this place. They have a team of the meanest, rude and unprofessional people I have ever met. My dog has been a patient there for almost a year, and it's been a NIGHTMARE. Everyone has a horrible attitude, they make you feel like crap if you ask questions about your dog's treatment or prices and frankly they don't seem to care about the dogs at all. They hike up the prices for everything and tell you-you won't be able to find certain meds anywhere else (lies). I've had a doctor throw her hands in the air and walk out of my appointment on me while I was simply asking questions about my dog's treatment and refuse to come back in while I could hear her talking bad about me behind the door. I called the owner to let him know what was going on and his exact words to me were " I really have a hard time believing that actually happened to you". HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PLACE!! I took my newly adopted 8 month old Dachshund to Meadowbrook Clinic the day after we got him. He was abused and neglected at his original home. The first thing the Veterinarian says is "Are you sure you want to keep him?" I thought she was joking around but she was not. She continued to tell my fiancé and I that we should reconsider keeping him and said he had "behavioral issues" because he was barking up a storm the entire time we were there. They wouldn't even let us set up a follow up appointment because they said we needed to reconsider keeping him. I thought veterinarians were supposed to help animals and advocate for helping animals... not suggest throwing them away like pieces of trash. How about finding solutions to help him rather than suggesting we get rid of him! I was so appalled with my experience at this vet and it was very upsetting. They are very stuck up and obviously don't really care for ALL animals. I ended up taking him to the Human Society Clinic in Rochester Hills and they are amazing!!! They have taken great care of both my Dachshunds and both of my mom's dogs. Turns out, he was barking like crazy because he had a very bad case of mange ( which is maddening for dogs) and other health issues that Meadowbrook failed to look for as well.
