I absolutely love this veterinary office! We moved to Novi 4 years ago, changed to this office, and I''m grateful to have found them. Doctor Parker, Jude, and the rest of the team are kind, thorough, and knowledgeable. If they don't have an answer readily available they look into it and circle back. We have been bringing our Siamese cats here for over a year. Both Dr. Parker and Dr. Studer have been very patient with them, especially my little one who turns into an actual demon when the doctors try to examine her. They've compromised by putting her out to do her exam and give her shots and it works out perfectly. No one gets bit this way! We've had some teeth cleanings which went really well. One of the older cats had been declining in health but with some medication, supplements, and diet adjustments has bounced back. Unfortunately we did lose one of our fur babies to age and kidney disease and the veterinary office staff and doctors were very compassionate during this time. I definitely recommend them if you are looking for compassionate, effective care. read more

The following is a letter that I have written to doctor Parker about my dogs treatment at his office. Hello Dr Parker I am writing to let you know again how upset I am at the terrible business practices that you and your staff are involved in. I was originally told that the estimate to clean my dogs teeth would be around $400 dollars. Which as Jude told me - may not be that much and might possibly be less. I have told you that I inherited my dog due to the death of a friend. I also told you that my husband had a stroke last March. After my last appointment I waited till I thought I could pay for the procedure. I have had a terrible year financially and am doing my best to be fiscally responsible. Because a good friend recommended you I was definitely more trusting than I should have been. I am in business myself and would NEVER carry on business the way that you and your staff have. OVER $900 above what was estimated!!!! (The final cost was $1285.92.) When I told my daughter (who by the way is a nurse) she said someone should leave the room and call to inform the owner! I certainly agree! When I told the friend that recommended you - she was horrified. Remember she recommended you! I will tell you that your staff (JUDE) - is not clear in her communication. I have been to your office twice and twice I walked away feeling like I was not told the TRUTH. One time I can believe - two times I feel cannot be a coincidence. What do you propose to do to remedy the situation? This is your opportunity to fix the mess that you and your staff created. Sincerely, HW I have not heard from doctor Parker at this point. Dr. Parker and Dr. Studer are phenomenal. They are extremely knowledgeable and experienced, and always know the best approach in caring for our precious Lola. Best of all, it is clear that the doctors and staff just plain LOVE animals. It comes through in all they do for our pets. When one of our dogs had to be euthanized, we all shared the heartbreak together. I can't imagine taking my pets anywhere else! read more

My visit here recently was terrible. Dr. Parker didn't say ANYTHING to my dog during the exam and shots. He had a total attitude because I chose not to give him a certain procedure. His true colors came out loud and clear today. I feel that he is only about money and unnecessary testing. I would NEVER recommend this vet to ANYBODY! My advice to you is find a vet who really cares. I find it really odd that (somebody) 8 people specifically find my review as funny. tl;dr: Best vet we've ever had. Highly recommended! Longer version: My family moved here in 2000 from overseas with our older cat. They treated her for over a decade, taking terrific care with her -- compassionate, professional, and friendly. When her time came, they were kind, and even sent a condolence card signed by the entire staff. That was really sweet, and my whole family appreciated it. Fast-forward to present day: I'm in town for Christmas at the moment (I'm an adult now and live in a different state), and my present cat had a terrible time making the 10-hour drive here -- screaming and hyperventilating for a good five hours. I was desperate to figure out a way to make the ride back less stressful for all involved. I called Briarpointe to see if they could help, and they said they'd be happy to fill a prescription faxed from my local vet. So I didn't have to shell out for an appointment just to get some cat-calming pills -- I really appreciate that. Briarpointe are good people. Special shout-out to Jude, who treated our older cat with such compassion and care, even though our old cat was a real PITA during vet visits. Also Dr. Parker is a terrific vet -- truly loves animals, and has a real way with them. I only wish I had something like Briarpointe where I live now. I really can't say enough good things about Briarpointe. read more

Dr. Studer and Dr. Parker are amazing and will provide excellent care for your pets. They are kind, compassionate, and outstanding veterinarians. Briarpointe Veterinary Clinic is a wonderful clinic. I took my cat there for close to 20 years until she passed. The doctors, Jude (office manager) & the entire staff are phenomenal and will make sure you get the best care. We have a dog and a cat and they both are very comfortable coming here, my dog actually loves it. Dr. Parker is very nice and always attentive to both animals when we bring them in. They are also great with last-minute appointments and even stayed open a bit late so we could have our dog looked at. After having a few animals and going to many vets over the years I find their prices very fair as well. The only negative experience we had was when we got our dog's nails trimmed once the vet techs were a bit rough with her which freaked her out, but we just bring her to the groomers to get it done now, so not a huge deal. read more

Fine for routine care if you are a thoroughly knowledgable pet owner. They do not provide information or advice on routine procedures (such as the length of time a dog's immune system is compromised by vaccination). They are also not knowledgable regarding their own procedures. I asked the vet if my dog could have contracted Pravo from the vax. He stated "No, because we don't adminster a live virus", only to find out later this wasn't true. They did not offer advanced support for sick pet in-home care (i.e. IVs, owner adminstered injections, etc). I would not recommend this vet to anyone with less than $3k to invest in the recommended hospitalization if your pet becomes ill. And be prepared to google a whole lot and talk to other pet owners to come up to speed if you are a new pet owner. read more

I have followed Dr. Parker for over 16 years now. When I had to have my 15 year old golden put down last July he was nothing but kind and understanding. Called me at home numerous times after hours in response to my tear soaked messages. Jude was so kind and compassionate during that difficult time as well. So I have to give a shout out to her. Even though I have the Berkley vet at the end of my block I still make the drive out to Novi. I wish my own doctor was so dedicated and patient as Parker. (as he is affectionately know in our household). I honestly look forward to going and seeing everyone for the well pet visits and annual vaccinations. I would never recommend this vet to anyone. Office is unclean, and disorganized. On multiple occasions I was given incorrect advise regarding my cat's care and was encouraged to spend money on unnecessary testing. When I spoke with an internal medicine vet specialist, I was told that the medications prescribed as well as the testing suggested should not have been done. Additionally, the medication prescribed to my cat only caused her stomach issues to actually become worse. Very disappointed, and will be discontinuing vet care at this office. read more

Dr. Parker and his staff are like family. This is my second dog that the Briarpointe Veterinary Clinic has cared for and I'm lucky to have found such a great animal-loving staff. Two years ago I brought in my puppy who was deathly ill. I had just purchased him from a "foster" and when I asked the foster for proof that my puppy had received all his shots, the woman stopped returning my calls. Dr. Parker did everything in his power to bring a listless 9-week old back to life. With his experience and care, my puppy survived and I couldn't be more happy that my now 2-1/2 yr old is a healthy 78lb husky/lab mix! read more

This is seriously the best veterinary clinic around and the only one I'll go to! We take our 3 cats, 6 rescue kittens and mama kitty, and 1 dog here. We've taken our other pets who have since passed away here in the past as well. They are so wonderful and caring! Whenever I call they instantly know who we are! Dr. Parker is amazing with my cats and loves them all so much, especially my one eyed cat! He is the most compassionate and caring vet I've ever met and I make it a point to only see him! The others who work there are just as kind, even going so far as to leave my cat's prescription hanging on the back door outside when I couldn't make it in time to get it before they closed! I don't know why anyone said Dr. Parker and everyone else who works there are only concerned with money and have an unclean facility, because it's completely just not true at all! I've never been pressured into any procedures before and always been given every option possible and time to decide, and it's always perfectly clean! I'm so lucky to have a place like this less than 10 minutes from my house! read more

Really disappointed in this veterinarian. He made the visit very uncomfortable for me, my daughter, and my dog. Its all about testing and money here. Last year when my dog was 3 he wanted over $300 to put my dog asleep and clean his teeth. I bet he tells every dog he sees they need deep intense teeth cleaning...even puppies I'm sure.I got home and read some reviews on yelp and agree with the other guy about the doctor being rude and somewhat nasty. Just lost a patient today doctor. I would NEVER EVER recommend this place. read more

Sadly, I would advise fellow pet owners to steer clear of this vet for anything other than routine care. Even then, you will need to do your own research regarding potential complications and may not get informed or accurate answers. For example, I took my perfectly healthy puppy in for exam and vax. I informed the vet I planned to board her when I travelled that week. His only input was to give her an extra shot (kennel cough). NO information or input re: risks or potential complications. When I picked her up, she had contracted Parvo. Took her to the vet. Minimal support / information offered. Just strong advice to hospitalize her. We settled on an antiibiotic shot and 24 hr dose of anti-nausea meds. He offered no support or advice beyond that (i.e. home IV, SQ Kit, high nutrition food, pedialyte, baby food, etc). For him, it was the hospital or nothing. This was at the BEGINNING of her parvo - not late stage! I would never use or recommend this vet again for anything. read more

Both vets provide excellent care and in fact, the entire staff is a caring team. They helped care for our lab for nearly 16 years and helped our family at the end. We just adopted a new lab and will continue care at Briarpointe! read more
