I have been so impressed with the management helping them and me transition them along the way. The staff shows them such respect and for sure preserving their dignity. They communicate with me directly about how they are doing. I would highly recommend the staff and upper management at Brandonwoods. In addition the apartments and the grounds are well maintained and very clean. There is plenty of green space for walks and getting my parents outside. This is a wonderful community!

My observation was that most of the staff was working extremely hard but that they were so short staffed, there was no way to provide the appropriate amount of care on a timely basis. Some staff clearly were not trained how to move (or not move) someone with an untreated broken hip. My bed-bound mom went 4 days before they brought her a toothbrush and water. My Dad went 3 days without an opportunity to bath. The staff are probably good people but they are in an impossible situation. Senior management of Five Star needs to get a handle on what is going on in the South Building nursing center.

She was nice however the company should not have represented her as someone who could fill the role of a caregiver. This company just sends someone out to fix dinner, read the newspaper, then bills for it. My brother was unhappy too and started to look at other options. Mom is often left waiting in a wet diaper. Employees are often in the dining room when it is not being used, unused rooms, or seated in the large gathering space on their cell phones. I particularly wish employees were more engaged with elderly residents in wheelchairs were gathered in the main entry. We were told they gathered residents here for social engagement - but no one is socially engaged. The lack of engagement between residents and staff on their phones makes Lakeview advance patient care a very lonely place to be.
