Beware: The Meadows Model is anti-family and pro-divorce. If you are looking to heal from trauma, I would NOT suggest the Scottsdale IOP program, especially if you are NOT suffering from addiction. You may leave with more trauma than you started, my wife certainly has. +Headaches + Billing Fraud This review is solely regarding my pregnant wife's neglectful treatment by her therapist Tracey, who in my unbiased opinion has a complex bent on tearing my family apart. The Meadows has a one size fits all approach and treat everyone like a drug addict. (That is without respect and inferior.) You will definitely be in group with drug or porn addicts, even if you have extensive sexual trauma. You will be in groups with the opposite sex, even if you request not. The Meadows Model makes you attend lectures surrounding addiction, even if you have none and encourage everyone to accept a Christian approach to recovery. They also "taught" my wife that women have to tell men why they say "No" ("No is not a complete sentence", they taught my wife, a SA survivor. Tracey picks and chooses which boundaries of the patients to respect and follow. My wife continues to be a victim of unwanted sexual advances from a Meadows patient and Tracey described them as a "good match" and spent valuable group time enabling this man to pursue my wife. My wife expressed that she was being sexually harassed and the therapist tried to convince my wife that she was just anxious and did not honor her boundaries and encouraged her to go on dates with this man twice her age, as a married woman. The therapist continues to send my wife pamphlets on the "stages of divorce" when my wife didn't go to The Meadows for Divorce and communicated that to Tracey. The Meadows sold us on that they don't give advice but they keep pushing my wife for separation. One of the psychiatrists, Dr. V, doesn't believe in depression and accused my wife of being addicted to being sad. The Dr pulled my wife off meds and we had to go back to her old psych to find a medication that worked. This is after my wife's original psych from Meadows prescribed meds then called an hour later to say "Nevermind, take a Benadryl" UPDATE: Dr. V fraudulently billed my wife's insurance for 39 sessions when only one took place. My wife was suffering from debilitating depression and we found The Meadows when her depression continued after we conceived. While initially favorable, the organization said anything to get us in the door. They made me feel comfortable and assured my wife and myself she would be in a safe and protected space. After a couple of weeks they switched my wife's therapists and groups and were then encouraging my very pregnant wife to car pool and ride with a single divorced man and recovering drug addict to and from group. The therapists encouraged this behavior and tried to get my wife to remove me from her care team. My wife repeatedly said no and associating with single men makes her uncomfortable and is crossing a boundary in her marriage. The leadership does not care, leaving my wife feeling even more isolated with no one to turn to. Tracey doesn't care about violating my wife's boundaries, going so far as posting everyone's phone numbers when my wife said sharing hers would make her uncomfortable. Now my wife is receiving texts from a man twice her age from group, adding to her trauma. If you're vulnerable or in a damaged state, The Meadows will take your money and try and manipulate you into unhealthy situations. They try and get you to associate with people in Meadows and views everyone else as an "outsider" including family. They prey on people needing acceptance, and they will exclude you if value your marriage more than anyone you meet at The Meadows. One star for Brough, an old school Meadows guardian. On Monday nights they hold a group for family and friends of people in recovery. Brough holds space in a professional and healthy manner. On Tuesday they have an online group session that is helpful hosted by Daniel Stenson. We ended up continuing our treatment elsewhere. read more

God used this place to save my life and my marriage, and I was humbled to see all of my immaturity and codependency. Don't go here if you don't want to be told the truth lol. From my experience of being there for a year (PHP, IOP, and now in the graduated program) anybody who I saw have a negative experience was someone who didn't want to hear the truth, and had made up their mind that this wasn't the treatment they needed. This place will benefit you if you really lock in, and put the work in for yourself. Go to the 11am free Meadows Model lecture on Friday's, it's a great way to see if the model is a good fit for you! Because the model is focused on core immaturity issues from trauma, is think it's a good fit for everyone to be straight up. I've been to so many different therapists and have been inpatient 3 times, this has been the only place that helped me get to the root of my mental health issues that were threatening my life. I now will only see outside therapist's that have been educated and use the meadows model, my personal therapist and our couples therapist are well connected! My IOP therapist was Jeremy, and he is amazing at what he does! I grew to really trust him with my treatment, and I'm grateful I did! read more

I sent a longer version of the following to the CEO (Sean Walsh) and VP, Outpatient Services (Mark Baumgartner) at The Meadows. They committed to looking into this. They were sorry and appalled at what I experienced, blah, blah, blah. They didn't care at all. They did absolutely nothing. I talked to all of my peers in group and not one of them was contacted. Nobody cared - I went all the way to the top, and nobody at The Meadows cared about the terrible treatment I was getting there. STAY AWAY FROM THE MEADOWS. THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS. JUST THE STAFF. THEY ALL COLLUDE TOGETHER AND GET RID OF YOU IF YOU ESCALATE ANY ISSUES. WHAT A BUNCH OF CRIMINALS. TRY SIERRA TUCSON INSTEAD. They realized I was suicidal and I was pulled into a room with Cara, the clinical director and Alex Zoloto, my supposed therapist. I admitted I was feeling suicidal. They wanted me to go to the hospital, but I didn't want to. They knew I had what I needed at home to kill myself. They knew I lived alone. They talked to me for awhile and then let me go home. Irresponsible. It doesn't matter if I want to go to the hospital or not. They have a responsibility to keep me safe. I certainly wasn't safe at The Meadows or home alone. Angela Smigiel ran our group. Issues started with Angela on day three of her reign. She became abusive towards me. Angela pulled me into a room and accused me of mixing my drugs. I certainly wasn't mixing drugs. Angela ordered me to take a drug test. She then got right in my face and yelled, "what's wrong with your eyes?!". I had told her earlier that I came from a difficult external therapy session and had been crying. She didn't suspect me of a drug issue. There was some issue with results being delivered and she never noticed that they didn't come. Ever. She clearly wasn't concerned about any drug issues with me. Just bullying me. She was regularly attacking me for things that made no sense. The worst thing she consistently did to me was have me present something and after pouring my heart out she would say nothing and would not have the group give me feedback. With everyone else she would process with them for 20+minutes and get feedback from the group. It became horrific and while she ran group I got no treatment, was activated by her behavior towards me and was worse mentally than when I walked in the door. Eventually, she didn't even have me present at all. I did so much homework that never saw the light of day. I asked Angela 3 times to meet with me to try to understand what was happening. She refused to meet with or talk to me. My mental state was getting worse as her abuse continued. Dr. Volfson (my psychiatrist) became concerned about the way Angela was treating me and causing me to mentally decline. She contacted Grace Li (who ran the facility) and told her about this. I told Grace what was going on. Grace said I must be perceiving things incorrectly and that I didn't have the facts. I certainly had the facts. She made some commitments to me but didn't follow through on any of them. She just ignored the whole issue and did nothing. What did they do with Grace? Promote her. It was obvious to me that the administrators didn't care about what was happening and I saw that they didn't want to know the truth. They only cared about protecting Angela. I spoke with Jim Corrington (Dir, IOPs) and told him what was going on. He acted concerned. He set up a meeting with Angela, Cara, Alex Zoloto and me. I thought Jim was being genuine about helping me. It was all a ruse. Jim got together with this team before the meeting, and they made a plan. Decisions were made before that meeting. They were just placating me. Angela lied about everything. Jim was in on the deception, if not the orchestrator. That afternoon, I was asked to leave the program. I guess that would solve the problem. People are aware there is nobody to talk to that will care about the issues so there is no point in raising them. I met someone at a meeting who had Angela at The Meadows and said she was a nightmare. They should all be ashamed of themselves. This kind of behavior from those who are supposed to be there to help people but instead hurt them. I'm not sure which is worse, Angela's treatment of me or the way the staff banded together to figure out how to get rid of me instead of looking into the issues and solving the problem. Alex Zoloto can't run an outpatient group. The room is complete chaos. There were 20-year-olds giving me advice. Alex said nothing. Almost encouraged it. Someone was presenting and group members were interrupting asking questions and giving advice. Alex says absolutely nothing. A group member felt she heard something in my words. She asked me if I was safe. I said I just didn't know. Alex was right there listening and never said a word to me. She is 25 years old. Nobody should spend three months at an IOP and leave much worse than when they arrived. It should be a crime. Maybe it is. read more

I'm actually really enjoying the IOP , Anna is an amazing group leader/therapist she's a vibe for real I like her style of therapy I have to say after going to core recovery (don't get me started on that place) the previous year this has been a huge success yes I've only been going for a couple of weeks now but it's been beneficial its so cool learning about carried emotions from childhood trauma and with the "homework" they give it allows me to look deeper inside myself the care and treatment they give is amazing I enjoy the lectures , yoga, art & not sure about the previous post but I don't feel like they are shoving god down my throat !(: the front desk ladies are 10/10 compared to core recovery they actually know me by name which makes me feel seen and it doesn't matter how many times I go up there to get a reminder about my appointments with a smile, they write more reminder cards out for me for my appointments no matter how many times, it's a beautiful facility read more

Not sure why there are so many negative reviews....this place saved my life. Pretty sure my intake call was with Johnathan (?) who listened patiently and empathetically to get me the care I needed. When I arrived for out-patient therapy I was in a suicidal fog and couldn't wrap my brain around the program and binder. It took everything I had to fight for myself, try all of the treatment options, show up every single day and do the extracurriculars. I started at the lowest point of my life and the entire Meadows team was committed to my well-being and helped me move onward from my trauma. Tracey was an amazing counselor, offering equal amounts of support and no nonsense feedback. Some things were tough to hear because they required personal accountability, but I needed to hear it. She challenged my negative thought processes and internal narrative by repeating what I said and responding "OR.....". This kept me grounded in reality and out of my own head/self destruction. As I worked through the program I met new friends & lifelong supporters. Every single staff member showed professionalism, compassion, kindness and great care in their work. I still regret my experience with the in-person treatment, but I switched to online and enjoyed that much better! I'm just still amazed the director of the in person forgot my name and all 3 requests to make my situation better. My experience is my own though, everyone will have a different one. read more

The therapists (Katie and Jeremy) and neurofeedback techs (Dan) are amazing. The front desk staff are super welcoming and caring. However, this place's corporate polices are built to put you as a patient last. As someone who has been here from July 2024 to Jan 2025 I would recommend finding another treatment center. Positives during my time here: - I am now able to feel like myself for the first time, I owe a lot of that to Katie and Jeremy for their help with me working on gender affirmation and removing shame messaging. - I can sleep regularly thanks to Neurofeedback. - I have new coping techniques. - And many more. Negatives during my time here I have experienced: - Having a few days left of treatment I was kicked out of the program and "graduated". This was due to the insurance year rolling over and I couldn't pay their insane costs immediately. (They wouldn't give me payment plan options or flexibility they wanted at least half right away despite the fact that my insurance was paying a majority of the cost). - My original therapist (name not listed) told me I wasn't trying hard enough despite doing everything I could to grow and learn. - My original group was full to bursting with 1-2 people joining every day. We couldn't even fit in the art or yoga room before I moved groups. This led to my therapist not having time for me or me being able to speak in the group. - If you have religious trauma, every 4 weeks they force you into a lecture with a person who will tell you that you'll go to hell or that God is the only way. - A psychiatrist told me gender affirming care should be my last priority and I need to put my mental health first despite the fact that my depression and anxiety nearly halved after I started it. - After being in a hostile situation, I as the victim in the situation was forced to stay home the day after the event instead of being allowed to join the group while the person who was the aggressor was allowed to stay in the group that day. - And more (I don't want to share due to confidentiality and respect for those involved). read more

Tried to get in, was judged to be in need of a 70k inpatient program instead of the outpatient I applied for. Reapplied two months later, they put me through a ton of bullshit including getting a 'psychological clearance' note from my doc. I provided one that met the criteria they provided me in writing and they came back with it was insufficient. Just don't bother, if they don't take you without work on your part they are just going to waste your time. read more

**************BE VERY WEARY OF THIS PLACE*************** Firstly, let me tell you that this place has blocked people from posting on their web site. I doubt they would do that if the comments were positive. My wife was a patient here, going four nights a week and scheduled for eight weeks. When first meeting with them she was quite clear on what some of her issues were (depression, anxiety, PTSD, and others). Yes, she was told, these are some of the things we work on here. Utilizing group therapy, individual therapy, EMDR (a trauma therapy) and others. It was apparent from the start that the main focus was geared to those with alcohol and/or drug addictions. Neither of which does my wife have. If her depression gets her to a state of panic, she was told she cannot take any meds because no one in the group is allowed meds. So contrary to what their ad says, they DO take a ONE- SIZE- FITS -ALL approach. We both saw that her anxiety and depression levels were going thru the roof. After 6 weeks of NO real 1 on 1 therapy to get to her core issues, NO group sessions dealing with her related issues and learning there would be NO -EMDR therapy because they had no one on staff to administer it, she decided it best to seek help elsewhere. That decision itself added to her anxiety, thinking that leaving was akin to failing. I, and others in the group had to convince her not to think that way. Working full time all day and going to sessions all night, with nothing good to show for it is certainly time wasted, not well spent. This is both a condemnation of this place and a warning to those seeking help. If someone with a mental illness is willing to commit to a 2-month program, like my wife, then they are probably at an extremely low point in their lives. The misleading rhetoric, and false claims of this place just added to my wife's anxiety. Stay clear of groups that deal with issues that you cannot identify with. Stay clear of this place. read more

We sent my college-age daughter there for an 8 week program. She really needed help and desperately wanted this to work. She is a sexual assault survivor and was placed in a discussion group that met 4 times a week that would roll their eyes and scoff when she talked about her assault and resulting trauma and PTSD, and had a therapist who hurt more than helped. They finally switched her therapist and group for the last two weeks, but by then she was more traumatized than when she went in. We wish we had never sent her here. Think carefully before you trust a loved one to this horrid place. read more
