Would not recommend due to the below. Mitch came out for our first visit and talked for us for almost 2 hours. He walked us through everything and really made us feel comfortable to use him for our kitchen renovation which we were nervous due to it being our first big project in our new home. He even reassured us that the posts saying he doesn't get back to people were untrue and due to a circumstance that won't happen again. However, he lied it seems and fully ghosted us and won't return any calls. Really says something about his character and business to not even have the decency to say he is unable or willing to do our job. He'll probably even comment here with an excuse of why he never got back to us. Personally I would stay away from Meck Brothers. read more

Meck Brothers Construction were very easy to work with. They were on time, efficient and finished at the original agreed upon price. Mitch, the owner, was not only on the job each day, he was in touch with me on a daily basis. We had carpet removed in our Great Room, new hardwood floors installed, they then sanded and refinished all of the floors to match. I have to say my wife and I could not believe how perfectly the old and new blended. We would definitely use them for other jobs in our home. read more

My husband and I contacted Meck Brothers about redesigning and remodeling our master bathroom, as well as installing all new hardwood floors in our master bedroom, walk-in closet, and upstairs hallway. Upon the first visit, Mitch came out and explained the entire process to us. Within about four days he sent us a very detailed estimate explaining step-by-step the entire job. once we begin Tommy, what is the gentleman assigned to remodeling our bathroom. Each day Tommy was prompt, polite, and explained exactly what he was going to be doing that day. At the end of each day he left our home extremely clean. We could not have been more pleased with the results and Workmanship of the Bathroom. Ivan was in charge of installing all of our new hardwood flooring and trim. His work was done quickly, efficiently and cleanly. We are absolutely astounded with the finish product. We will definitely be using Meck Brothers again in the future and highly recommend them to anybody looking for any sort of home remodeling project. read more

I usually don't write this much in a review. This is not an angry rant (since I really don't have anything to be angry about) but a warning to all potential customers. Meck Brothers may or may not be good contractors. I never found out. Mitch Kalmus, the owner, salesman and inveterate liar spent 2.5 hours spinning tales of his exceptional greatness, his team's loyalty and their sterling reputation, and then disappeared. No calls returned. No emails replied to. Completely ghosted. As we stood in my hallway, he took 30 minutes to tell us about his team - Bobby and Franky and Timmy and Billy and Freddie and Tommy and Ralphy and... Jose. All are experts, all with outstanding skills, immaculate working habits, and superior customer service skills. A 30-minute walk-through went over 2 hours while he told us of the expense, stress and responsibility of running a small business, the cost of marketing and payroll taxes, and we received an in-depth, complementary seminar on workman's compensation law. In all, he may have spent 15-20 minutes actually discussing our project. Now, all of this would have been fine if he had submitted a reasonable estimate for the work - it was not a small job: 3 full baths, 1 half bath, laundry room and a complete gut of an 800 sq ft kitchen. It was a great opportunity for him and his company, but he decided that the way to proceed was to vanish off the face of the earth. It's impossible to even leave voicemail for him since his mobile voicemail sends you to a business # and the business #, which no one ever answers, puts you into and endless loop of hold music and never - NEVER - puts you into voicemail. In the end, it doesn't really matter the quality of his company's work. If he's too busy to respond to new customers, I wonder if he has the time to service his existing ones. Beware the salesman who sells more than he can deliver. read more

Save yourself the headache and disrespect by choosing a different contractor. From the start, Mitch was a big talker and boastful about his business model. That should have been a red flag right there. However, we went with him for a bathroom remodel. Our home had just been painted and all lightening fixtures upstairs were new as we had moved in the month prior to demo starting. The demo team were subcontractors who showed little concern for the state of our house or for their work. Our hallways light fixture was cracked, the hallway walls went gouged and nicked in multiple places. Our new hardwood floors were dented from things being dropped. We had asked Mitch to protect the floors which he claimed was happening. However, his sub demo team decided it was too much work. Everything from then on out was a battle. Mitch didn't believe his team caused any damage to our home that we must have missed seeing the broken light (hung up by us a week prior), dented floors and gouged out walls. Every interaction with Mitch was tense and he made excuses for every delay even though he chose to pull his team from our job to overlap another job. The 19 business day turnaround he promised stretched out much longer. I've never felt so disrespected as when I asked him to have the tile team dry fit my tile and he told me, "I'm the kind of person they talk about behind my back." My response that is when he leaves the bathroom done, my family gets to live with a $26,000 bathroom for the next 20 years. He kept going repeating himself until I told him I don't care what he thinks I want it laid out as it was a statuary marble style tile and the veining should flow in a specific way. After that, my husband took over dealing with Mitch. The final straw was when he didn't order our bathroom door and instead bought a cheap in stock hollow door and tried to pass it off. After a lot of back and forth, he claimed to have ordered the door but it was on back order. He refused to remove the dumpster from our property until we paid him in full minus $500 in good faith for them to come back and install the door when it comes in. Flash forward a year, he shows up with a door trying to explain to my husband it was our custom ordered door. Yet, another hollow door just a different style. Mitch continued lying to my husband that the door we had ordered was no longer made. My husband called the company directly and it was their top door style. We decided to move on at that point as any interaction is a waste of our time. Crazy for that money, we still don't have the correct door, door knob, trim painted out, etc but we needed to walk away for our own sanity. read more

Scheduled Mitch (Owner) of Meck Brothers to come to my home for an estimate 12/16/2021 2:30 pm he showed up 35 mins early oh well better than late. I then showed him the job which is a complete remodel of a 1st floor bi-level he went through every room and measured and gave me ideas on what he would do etc. Went into my den measured the room and then began his 1 hour and 45 minute rant about how he was going to be this and that but didn't work out because this and that...after he got all that ego out of the way then came the lengthy explanation on who and why to hire the "right contractor" in hindsight I should've stopped him it just went on and on...my mistake there. So then as he is leaving he states it's going to be about 5-7 days to get you an estimate "as I am super thorough with my estimates" goes on to explain the detail of his layout of said estimate. A week goes by didn't hear anything as it fell on Christmas week I decided to give some time after Christmas I emailed him just asking when ill hear from him I received nothing so another 2 weeks go by still nothing my wife reaches out via telephone leaves message still nothing she than leaves a comment on one of their Facebook posts he reaches out to her via (Facebook messenger) asks for if we needed an estimate or if one was done already, my wife gives information needed he stated he will look into it next day. A few days pass my wife follows up via Facebook post wich he ignored. I then tried one last time via (Facebook post) as that was the only way he has answered and never heard anything checked this morning and the post was deleted... It's totally fine this company didn't want this job but why not just say so... Such a complete waste of time! read more

After 1 hour or so at the house (80% of it spent on him explaining workman's comp insurance and his crew), he said he would provide an estimate in 4-6 days. One month later and after countless texts, emails, and calls, still no response. Unreliable, unresponsive, and very unprofessional. read more

This company was a complete waste of time. Owner came to our home and stayed for over two hours on the estimate-primarily discussing the integrity of his company. Then never got us the estimate and has dodged us ever since. Do yourself a favor and use someone else! read more

I am a licensed, local realtor and own a few multi family properties myself. I very much needed new floors in one of my homes. I was referred to Meck Brothers by a colleague. Two days later I met with Mitch, the owner. He assessed the floor condition gave me a few options. One of those options was Luxury Vinyl Plank. I was in somewhat of a hurry. I selected a color that was in stock to make it easier. Once I purchased the flooring, Mitch arranged to pick it up and within a week he and his team installed in our our 2 bedroom duplex. Not only was I impressed with the product after it was installed it looked like a brand new home. In addition I asked Mitch if he knew of a locksmith as I had to change the locks. His response was if I purchased new locks that he would install them on both the front and back doors for a fraction of a locksmith. To recap, Meck Brothers was knowledgable, responsive, communicative and left our home clean. I highly recommend them and will continue to use them on future projects in our homes. read more

All I can say is, WOW. Mitch & his team knocked this out of the park. My small porch was literally falling off my house. Mitch was 1 of 3 estimates I obtained and was not the cheapest. Mitch came in explained exactly what needed be done in great detail. Next he explained the material options as well as what he would do if it were his house. I selected Azek for the decking as well as all of the railings. Upon job completion I received Mitch registered my project with Azek and I was sent detailed info on the warranty. I was thoroughly impressed. Next year I plan to remodel a bathroom and will definitely be giving them a call. read more

Left several messages and no return call. On a third attempt I got Mitch and we made an appt for a consult. He came, earlier than expected an stayed longer than expected even though I told him several times that i had a work call to do. Said he would call in about a week with a quote. That was a month ago and never heard back from him. He managed to snap a picture of my dog and posted it on his Facebook account without asking me. read more

Mitch and his team have completed a few projects for us in Belvidere, NJ. We live in a 1886 Victorian and they had no problem dealing with the curveballs thrown at them with the old house. They installed a new bathroom including a new clawfoot tub and 7ft shower with 2 shower heads. Everyone was easy to work with and the work was done very professionally. Highly recommend! read more

Mitch Kalmus, the owner of Meck Brother's Home Improvement, is not reputable. He did a kitchen renovation on my rental house. He billed me for electrical work ($2750 by his calculation) but did not pay the electrician. So the electrician billed me and I had to pay him. I sent the bill to Mitch and asked for a refund. After weeks of not returning my emails and calls, he finally responded saying he never received the bill and that he would take care of it. After a couple of more weeks of not receiving my refund, I contacted him and he said he sent it. I told him I did not receive it and that's the last I ever heard from him despite numerous emails and calls. Also, there were problems with his work after about a month, like a cabinet panels coming loose and falling off, and the floor trim coming loose. His contract specifically says he guarantees his work for one year. I asked him to repair them and he said not a problem, and then I never heard from him. I would not recommend him because he is just plain dishonest. There are issues that come up with any major renovation and you don't want to deal with someone untrustworthy. I sued Mitch in Morris County NJ Small Claims Court and he did not show up. So I was awarded a default judgement against him for $2750 + court costs. Do not give Mitch Kalmus your business. read more
