We have sat here for 1h 45mins and nobody has came to ask questions or see us at all. Also we had sat down and an other girl came in and after the 30 mins we have sat in the lobby this girl got to go back after 5-10 mins of waiting. I went to this clinic after being recommended by a co-worker. I called to check on insurance acceptance before going. I was told "YEP" you are good. I checked in and asked about the insurance and copay. "Yep you are good. No copay." I saw the doctors right away. Very short wait. Great docs. Imagine my surprise when my insurance sends me a bill for "out of network" provider! I won't return EVAH! Dispite being pleased with the doctor this feels like a bait and switch. read more

This clinic is riddle with problems. Aside from the attitude problem from the front desk ladies, you will be waiting as long as if you had went and sat at the emergency room. You will "check in" and then wait like 2-3 hours to see a doctor. You will wait way longer than if you have just went somewhere else. I don't know if they are just extremely slow or if they only have one doctor. I had a friend with an appointment in Bessemer! She was done and back home in Tuscaloosa before I even went back to see the doctor. Her appointment was 2 hours after mine. Just go somewhere else this place makes you want to give up. read more

Yesterday my son, who is a 20 year who has autism needed to go have his ear checked. We got there around 640 pm. They were so kind and loving to him. He is not big on strangers and has a hard time communicating. They took their time and handled him with the utmost care. He was checked and he did indeed have an ear infection. We left there around 7:10 prescriptions in hand and a young man who was smiling because he knew he was going to get to feeling better very soon! Thank you so much Med Center North! read more

Went to medcenter north yesterday about 11 am had a very pleasant experience front desk was really nice nurses and Dr that I saw was very nice and helpful greatly appreciated them whole time I was there was about a hour and half very quick I thought with all the sickness going on thank you to all of you you are appreciated read more

So rude and checked in online with 4 people in front of me just to find out that there were more and that people who checked in later were being seen before me. The front desk ladies were beyond rude and they didn't even run my insurance so they were good for nothing. read more

This is an update to my recent review. I had a Covid 19 test done and was told by female dr results would be in by Wed the 24th of June. I called that day Wednesday for results. Called Thursday for results told still not in. Called Friday the 26th told results still not in due to a lot of lad sent off. Remind you my life is on hold at this point waiting on results. Friday evening I thought I needed to find out why results were taking this long. I called Med Center after 5 pm and after talking to 2 people I was told someone had talked to me on 24th. Now I would know if I had talked to someone about something so important. I have had nothing but bad service and was once misdiagnosed when I had mono and they treated me for Strep throat and my liver was failing. The meds they gave me made my liver worse and I ended up dehydrated which jaundice eyes and skin. I was taken by an ambulance to Birmingham and stayed hooked up to IVs for 3days. All bc a doctor didn't do his job correctly. Worst office ever. Never plan to go back read more

Took my son there on July 8, 2013 for a runny nose and persistant cough. He was perscribed a 5 day dosage of a Z-pack and some cough medicine. They sent us away with a smile and "If he's not better next week just bring him back" The day after his Z-pack ran out he immediately had a relapse. So I called the office to take them up on ther offer to bring him back. Of course they want yet another full payment for a second office visit. This is not the first time a similar situation has occured. Maybe a 7 day cycle of Z-pack would have cured him, but then I wouldn't need to go back and pay them again if that were the case. Too bad that incompetent physicians don't offer a warranty on their work. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. FOLLOW UP: Took my son to Crimson Urgent Care for a second opinion. Found out that he did in fact have Strep Throat, which MC NORTH FAILED to diagnose. CUC prescribed some medication much better suited for children. The staff was great and we were in and out in about one hour. read more

I visited MedCenter North immediately after a bad fall. My ankle/foot was swollen horribly and my 82 year old grandmother had drove me up to the door. My step sister got out and requested a wheel chair. The staff gave her a chair but did not help her get the chair out or help her get me in. The front desk staff watched me struggle to hold the door open while she rolled me in. The XRay technician did not have a great disposition - She was agitated I could not place my injured limb in the placements required for her scans. She was not patient - not rude- just not pleasant to work with. The doctor came in and said my xrays looked normal besides a bone that looked funny and described it as a mushy bone. The doctor said she wanted a second opinion so she was sending the images to the Radiology Clinic for a second opinion. The doctor said the results from the second reading would be available Saturday night or sometime Sunday. I called to check Saturday night and twice on Sunday before a staff member eventually told me the Radiology Clinic does not even look at images on the weekends so it would be Monday before I heard something. The whole staff is not at all on the same page much less in the same book. Also while I was there early Saturday morning at Medcenter, an individual came in and placed a brace on my extremely swollen foot/ankle and I cried from the pain so I requested to see the doctor again - I asked the doctor could I not take the brace off while so swollen and she said - of course I could .... not to place the brace on until swelling reduced. I went through uncalled for additional pain. I was never offered Tylenol or anything for pain. On Monday afternoon I called the Radiology Clinic directly to see what was going on with my XRays and the clinic informed me my results were already at Medcenter. I called Medcenter to get my results and the staff informed me they were busy so they would have to call me back.... mind you I have been waiting since Saturday..... I finally get a call back confirming that there was no evidence of a fracture or a break...but definitely evidence of swelling of the soft tissue. Medcenter never told me how often I should ice or anything. I actually ended up requesting Medcenter to forward me to an orthopaedic because my swelling was still so severe. Medcenter at this point told me I would need my scans for my UOC appointment. I am injured so I asked could my family member come pick up the files.... I was placed on hold and the voice over the phone came back and said - you do not have anyone on your form for permission to release info but who do you want to get it... I gave the name of my loved one and Medcenter stated the files would be waiting up front. My loved one arrived at the front desk and the staff refused to give the files because I did not sign a release form.... My loved one left and so I called and asked why did they say the person could come and then change the story.... Medcenter could not explain why one of the representatives gave me this answer. Medcenter then placed fault on me for not filling out the form - mind you I was in pain on the date of the visit - I asked the voice over the phone - If I missed a form - Why is the front desk staff not trained to catch that when collecting paperwork back? She said no completion of the form meant no release and they were trying to train the staff better to catch incomplete documentation. While on the phone I asked could the form be faxed to me and Heather responded yes. I asked why was this option not provided while my loved one was there so she would not have to make an additional trip. Again - no good response... The form was faxed to me and then my loved one drove back up to the office to collect the disk from the same people who told her only I could come injured and all... Medcenter's team was not customer service oriented. I was a checklist item... a obstacle to get through the work day... I was a number not a person. Medcenter needs to realize there are many facilities I can choose from and they should have seen being selected for my care as a privilege with competition in today's market. Upon going to the orthopaedic today - I have been informed I have a grade 3 sprain... minimum time off work 2 weeks ... 6 weeks physical therapy and a boot.... I am so happy I insisted on going to another doctor. The only nice person in my experience with Medcenter was Heather when she was cleaning up the mess over the phone faxing me the form. I feel this review is necessary so another does not receive the same care. I hope the problem is addressed. One goes to the doctor to feel better.... not worse.... read more

The doctor was the most callous person i've met in a while. She interrupted me every time i tried to talk. She asked me "why are you even here?" and "well, what do you expect us to do for you?" then told me "this is not the place where we can help you." I came in with stomach problems. I visited a doc in the box a month ago about completely different stomach issues, and she assumed it was the same issue. You'd think someone with a medical degree would understand the possibly of more than one problem, in this case it was the runs a month ago and intense stomach cramps now. I'm expecting a referral to a GI tomorrow. I haven't eaten more than 500 calories in almost 3 days now. I'm missing work tomorrow and will possibly be hospitalized. I'm calling to complain to the head of the department, to my insurance company, and i may take legal action if this is something that could be prevented. read more
