Drove over and sat in parking lot waiting on the prompts to tell me when it was my turn. 1:59 I get prompt saying make your way to med center it is your turn next. I walk in, was told sorry the online system doesn't work when we are busy, it will be a 3 hour plus wait. I was like I checked in online, the girl told me walking ins get preference and I should try med 360. I had waited hours for my child to see a Md and they tell me well you were not a walk in. had a sinus infection and had an earache. Dr. was very polite. He introduced himself, I'm not good with names sorry. he said he was one of the owners. He really took good care of me. Yes I had to wait in waiting room a while. But not to long in the room to see dr. The girls up front could use some clear boundaries on what they should be doing and they should not treat patients like " excuse me u r bothering me". That should never be. I've never had issues with this MedCenter until yesterday. The staff was honestly great and very nice, but I gave it a two star for the ridiculous wait time. I've never had to be there that long anytime I've went before. I took my 2yo son in to get seen because he had developed a pretty bad cough/congestion over the weekend that was affecting his sleep. I didn't want to wait until Monday for his Peds office to open because I wanted him to be able to get the medicine he needed asap as well as make sure it wasn't a developing ear infection - he gets those often. We waited in the lobby for 2.5 hours and then waited another 45min in one of the back rooms. After we finally saw the doctor and had some tests done I was beyond ready to leave but was happy we were finally being taken care of. I thought things would finally be moving along, but we ended up waiting another 30min to be told the results (I get that results take time to come back) but at this point I was FED UP. I finally decided to leave and asked one of the nurses in the lobby if we could just go. At that point I didn't mind not knowing what his results were, I just wanted him to get the medicine he needed to help him as soon as possible. She went and got the doctor for us, who apologized for us having to wait and told us the results and what he needed. We arrived there around 3:15 and weren't leaving until 6:40ish. My son usually eats dinner around 6 and he's usually getting ready for bed around 7/7:30. I might as well have waited until today (Monday) to go to his pediatrician seeing as how we didn't get his medicine time yesterday since we were at MedCenter so long. read more

This place was freaking awesome! I called around to every urgent care in town and they all had about a 3-4 hour wait because everyone had the flu. I chose here because they were open the latest and the wait was about 30 mins shorter. The staff were super friendly even though I'm sure they had to deal with some real a-holes that day because they were so busy. The people at the front desk kept me updated on where I was in line, and I wound up only waiting about 2-2.5 hours. The nurse practitioner was awesome and chipper and very knowledgeable. Same with the doctor. I liked this place so much I even told the doctor to tell everyone what a great job they were doing and how much I appreciated it. I'd definitely come here again and recommend to people! read more

I brought my kid in for an injury to his arm. He had not visited this location previously, and wasn't in their system, so extra work to get him registered was required. Beginning from when we walked in the door, staff treated us exceptionally well. The lovely lady registering us went the extra mile to verify insurance and get him in their computer. The lobby where we waited was comfortable, open, and didn't have too many folks waiting. Most remarkable, however, was the skill and friendliness of the medical staff. The nurse practitioner and the nurses who tended him worked together like a well-oiled machine. They were competent and friendly, providing entertainment as they fixed him up. In short, they did everything right. I am most grateful to the entire team for taking such good care of us. read more

I want to start by saying that I have had nothing but the best experience at MedSouth (see my other review) prior to yesterday. However, the young lady at the front door (Tiffany) created a horrible experience for us when we walked in the door yesterday. I usually would not make a complaint, but people should not work in the medical field or with the public if they do not know how to treat all human beings fairly and with kindness. My husband and I arrived at MedSouth around 2:30PM on Saturday, August 22nd, due to my anaphylaxis (severe) reaction to a wasp sting. When we got to the front door to walk-in (not being able to see that someone was in the foyer), we opened the door, and Tiffany responded aggressively for us to wait outside. We apologized because, due to the tinted glass, we were unable to see anyone. When she was ready for us to come in, we walked in, and she immediately had an attitude when asking us questions. She told my husband who walked in with me he had to wait outside. I informed her that he was my husband; she then responded in a combative tone and attitude to come-in out of the doorway. Even my husband looked at her strangely. We were not saying anything but answering her questions during this entire encounter because it was noticeable that she was inhospitable. When she asked me what I had taken, I told her Benadryl because I thought she was referring to my allergic reaction. Instead, she looks at me crazy and aggressively says," no for a fever." My husband immediately grabs my hands because you can visually see that I am in agonizing pain and itching. After all, I was covered in red hives from the neck down, my face was swollen, and in tears, however, none of that mattered to Tiffany. Regardless of my visual discomfort and noticeable pain that I was in, Tiffany showed no empathy. Please understand that the pre-screening for COVID was not the problem. We came in with a mask on and appreciated MedSouth taking the necessary precautions. The primary and only issue was Tiffany's conduct and attitude towards my husband and I during the pre-screening process. After the rude and misconduct from Tiffany, she then tells us in the same vexatious tone to give the lady at the front desk our cards. Amber at the front desk apologized because she could tell I was visually upset. When we sat down in the lobby, another black lady sitting down from my husband informed us that Tiffany treated her the same. We also spoke with the other young lady sitting down from Amber at the front desk, who corrected my name and noticed that I signed in online before leaving home, thanked me for signing in online, and also apologized for how we were treated. I asked her for the greeter's name and informed her that I would be making a formal complaint. Tiffany should not be in a patient-facing role if she does not know how to treat everyone equally regardless of their racist. I never want to make an unfair situation and/or encounter like this about racism/racial profiling, because I always want to see the best in people. Unfortunately, it is hard not to when we watched how friendly and pleasant she was to the caucasian gentleman who came in after us, a caucasian couple leaving, and two caucasian women who entered the foyer while we were standing there. If this ever happens again, it will not just be just a review or email to your office, but I will be contacting the BBB, my insurance company, and the joint commission. As someone who has worked in Employee Relations for almost my entire career and deals with individuals like Tiffany, her conduct is unacceptable. Regardless if her behavior is an unconscious bias or racial profiling, additional diversity and inclusion training is needed for Tiffany. It is also a poor representation of MedSouth if they support non-inclusive behavior from their employees. The world is ugly enough right now, and no one should deal with this kind of treatment when coming to a medical facility for treatment. It should also be duly noted that the two young ladies at the front desk, the triage nurses, the nurse practitioner, and the doctor gave impeccable service and bedside manner. They are precisely the reason we continue to come here and pass the other urgent care centers closer to our home. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would. Staffing is terrible! Not only did I have to wait over two hours, but the lady lost my paperwork, pushing me further down the line. I had to refill out paperwork and all they would say is, "Your name would be called shortly". I will never come back to the MedCenter. read more

I called ahead and checked if they accepted my insurance and they said they did, because I didn't want to have to drive all over Tuscaloosa at night to get treated because I felt like death. After filling out forms for a solid 10 minutes, they tell me that they in fact do not take my insurance. I wasted all that time and had to rush across town to a different place, much further from my apartment, to try to get squeezed in before closing. Was not happy at all. read more

My gratitude to this place for their efficiency and care. So my teenage son spiked a fever 103.9 after being at a Bama game. It's 7:30pm on a Saturday and this place closes at 8pm. We arrived at 7:45 and they were very quick to get him triaged, swabbed for flu and chest x-rays for pneumonia. We know he was exposed to flu but x-Ray showed pneumonia. They provided meds to reduce fever, shot and ordered prescription of Tamiflu just in case at local CVS that was open till midnight. Saved us from an ER visit. Relieved parents! The staff, from front desk to triage attendant was fantastic including Nurse Practitioner and Dr. Great staff I would highly recommend. read more

Two experiences and for both the wait was terrible. A quick online check-in before 6 p.m. and back pretty quickly to the exam room was followed by an approximately 2-hour wait for a doctor and diagnosis. What was a suspected concussion from a head bump was actually a stomach virus. The office closed while we waited (and waited) and after finally being seen and checked out, we were sent on our way with the front door AND the doors back from where we came locked. Couldn't get anyone to hear us banging on the door to come let us out so I had to climb over the reception area desk to get behind the locked doors from the lobby. The doctors who work here have absolutely no idea what the hell they're doing! I went because I had bronchitis right of the bat they accused me of taking steroids because they said my blood pressure was high also because I'm built up and assumed I took them. I told them I've never taken steroids in my life which I'm very proud of and I told them they were more than welcome to test me if they liked. I told them from the beginning to use a bigger cuff because it was to small well they didn't want to hear that at all. I had my blood pressure checked that same day at another doctors office called Emergi-care they said my blood pressure was fine which I already knew also. They checked me for steroids which I came back clean. After all of their craziness bullshit they never once tested me for bronchitis because the doctor took one little look in my ear and said I have a ear infection which didn't sound right because I had ear infections before and I knew for a fact that wasn't the cause. So after I left there I decided to drive to Emerging-care. Well what do you know they tested me for bronchitis and I had it!! Plus they checked both my ears and they said I didn't have a ear infection. Stay away from here!!! Also there is a Asian doctor who works there unfortunately I cannot remember her name but she is promoting the clinics customers to her husband which is a heart doctor. She has done this to me several times clamming I had high blood pressure . Stay away from this clinic they have no idea what they are doing or talking about. Do not use either of the Med Centers for Covid testing. I tried for 5 days to get results from North. Was told they talked to someone about results and it wasn't me. Breaks all Hippa laws ever written. Told me 3 different receptionist that results were not back. 4th call got someone in back I guess to tell me test results but then said that was told to someone 3 days earlier. Very nice facility. I was in and out within 1 hour. Dr. Grelle saw me and was very attentive with me. She went through all my symptoms, all medicine/shot options, then stopped to make sure she had answered all of my questions. She really took time and didn't rush through my appointment. Finally asked them if we had been forgotten and were told there is only one person in front of us now... that was 30 mins ago. I guess I'll just die here. I have used MedCenter South for years and have always received excellent care. The entire staff are friendly, compassionate and concerned. I know that the Doctors and the clinical staff are experienced and can "handle" any patient that walks through the door. This place is awful. My wife needed a basic physical completed for her state job provided insurance. We waited to go back over a hour after filling out paper work. All they needed to do was basic blood work like lipids and sugar, etc... I have this exact same thing done at work for our annual wellness screening and it in Takes less than 5 minutes. She was in the back waiting on them to check her blood sugar for over 2 hours... we actually started to think they forgot she was in the room! Beware! read more

TERRIBLE service. No communication between workers. Not to mention they are rude and extremely slow. I see others complimented their efficiency, but they must be talking about a different office because that is the LAST thing on their list of priorities. I told both of the workers I encountered prior to paperwork exactly what I was there for, and they gave me the wrong paperwork and sent me to the wrong side of the building. I had to be sent back to the waiting room in order to sort everything out. I ended up being there for two hours when I was the FOURTH person in line when they opened their doors. Their text system does not work appropriately and will move you out of line for no reason. BEWARE. Find a different doctor unless you want to spend an eternity waiting and an eon in a room only for them to be disorganized and then treat you like an inconvenience. Oh, and if you want documentation be prepared to wait a couple hours for them to print it for you. read more

THE best doctor's office I have ever been to. There are do many people there taking care of you. The front reception staff make you feel comfortable, walk you through the paperwork when you are sick and thinking in 1st gear. The finance lady has everything posted and is quick do you can sit back down. Then a nurse calls you, takes your blood pressure, asks you about your symptoms and allergies and doesn't weigh you, make you sit up on the exam table or take off your clothes on a cold day. Then, the PA comes in, double checks your symptoms, examines your ears and throat and listens to your lungs. Suggests antibiotic and corticosteroid shots and explains what they're for and asks if it's okay. The doctor comes " so I hear you might be sick." Making you laugh. The level of care, attention, modern bedside manner practices, and efficiency made me fell like Med Center South was the Four Seasons of doctor's offices! All for a $30 copay. They sent me off with 2 shots and 3 prescriptions I took to Sam's Club to fill for $18. read more

When MedCenter South, Tuscaloosa opened it was very impressive with good care. Dr McIntyre was ther most of the time and since he came from DCH ER you felt fairly safe when your dr was not available. BIG change. I saw a dr yesterday who obviously did not even read my chart. He want to give me a shot and a prescription for two drugs I am allergic to. Seriously did you read what the nurse wrote down plus this wasn't my first visit there. I though American Family Care was the worst urgent car facility but apperntly MCS is giving them a run for their money. And if you think it is just this facility - think again the EXACT same thing happened to my daughter at the Hoover location. I will call my primary on call and ask for advice from now on. Strep throat isn't that difficult but giving a drug you are allergic to is. I think what f that was my dad. read more

The most recent experience was the worst....waited over 3 hours in their waiting room for service.
