Mirsada told me that I was one of the most serious acne patients she has seen in her 40 year career, she told me that products will do 40 percent, diet 40 percent and treatments 20 percent of the job done. It was not easy to come once a week for the next 3 months but I was committed to follow trough . After 3 months my skin was finally clearing and I was really happy. I don't remember high school without remembering the hell that my skin caused me. I would wake up at 6:30am each morning to spend half an hour covering up my acne with makeup, to make myself feel normal amongst my friends who had perfect skin. Each year I would attempt a new skin care regimen, a new product in hopes of finding a solution. Nothing worked. At my wits end, I ended up going vegan towards the end of my time in high school. A year into my diet, nothing changed. What did change were my health markers--I developed anemia, had severely low vitamin D and B12 levels, and was chronically sick. I ended up returning to a whole foods, omnivorous diet. I felt better, but acne still plagued me. Throughout college, my skin continued to get worse. I started suffering from severe cystic acne around my chin area that felt like bruises under my skin. A single cyst would last me 3-4 weeks and were difficult to cover up with makeup. I was constantly ashamed. I refused to let people, even my close friends, see me without makeup. I would wear makeup to the gym. I would come home and cry because I felt so so ugly. The doctor seemed rushed and was just listing basically everything to apply to the scalp, including over-the-counter products and monthly PRP treatments at $1300 per session, which "might not even be effective". It felt like I sat down at a foolish table in Vegas and instantly lost my $275, getting absolutely nothing in return. What a complete waste of both money and time.
