After having my baby she told me which products to stay away from and which facials were right for me. She knows a lot about different skin care products too so it's not hard to find something you like. I love the Jan Marini sunscreen she recommended and it actually got me to where sunscreen everyday. I tried her products from her SkinPro Holly line and they really helped my skin. It feels smoother and brighter. All the products were very lightweight and not oily feeling at all. The cleanser made my face feel really clean, it had a flowery scent which bothered me at first but I think I got used to it so it's not a big deal. Let me start by saying that I am 36 and have only had 2 facials in my life. My skin is combination/oily and I don't have problems with acne; my main issues are blackheads, milia, and occasional small breakouts. I am in my early 30s and have experienced many skin imperfections (acne, scarring, and pitting) that I've attempted to improve with microderm abrasion, lasers, dermapen, and various skin care products with minimal to no success. I began seeing Holly in late April, and since then I've seen AMAZING results on my skin. This is a bit of a long one, but I want to be as thorough as possible since skin care is so complex. Holly, the founder of Couture Aesthetics, was referred to me by one of my cousins, who raved about her kind personality and true skill at what she does. I had never been to an esthetician, nor had I ever gotten a facial, but my experience at Couture Aesthetics has been nothing short of life-changing. Holly is knowledgeable, CREDIBLE, funny and is always working on something new to deliver to her clients. If she's not in the office, she's offering skin savvy tips on social media (follow her on Snapchat) and working on future video/blog content. In my first consultation at CA, Holly truly listened to all of my skin concerns (a few of which many dermatologists in the past had brushed off because it was "not that severe") and advised on regimens and treatments specifically catered to my skin type. We began with glycolic peels with her specialty: "couture facials". I think it's definitely the "couture" aspect to Holly's practice that makes results so possible, because she truly caters to *your* specific skin concerns. A bit about myself and my skin: I'm in my early twenties and really wanted to start giving my skin the care it needed this year. My primary skin concerns have always been cystic acne, acne scarring/hyperpigmentation and uneven texture. I've gone to a handful of dermatologists, who have usually given me "cookie cutter" solutions and medications for my acne, including oral pills and harsh ointments that my skin only ended up having allergic reactions to. And then I met Holly! (Thank god.) About 3 months into my treatment at CA, my acne/breakouts were completely under control. I broke out only once a month, if that, and even then it was a small, unnoticable whitehead that went away in a couple of days with spot treatment. Before seeing Holly, I would break out practically every two weeks. Which sounds relatively normal, but... usually, they weren't your casual white heads that you could simply extract. Nope, they were painful, cystic bumps/hormonal acne. Holly set me up with a few products that I should incorporate into my skincare regimen, which I think has also made the biggest difference to maintain my skin in between appointments. She highly recommended the Jan Marini line, which is effective with potent ingredients, yet, is safe for the most sensitive of skin (aka ME). This past month, we tried a new, stronger peel treatment, which, to be honest, I was a bit worried about at first given the downtime needed for peels and my current work schedule. And right now, which is 4 days following this peel, I'm seeing results I thought I wouldn't see for years. Again, it isn't incredibly dramatic, but it is definitely a huge improvement. The pigmentation from my acne scars is fading dramatically, and I'm seeing the bumps/raised acne scars on my skin are becoming less noticeable and smoothing over as well. While my skin still has some ways to go until it's 100% where I want it to be, I'm closer than I've ever been to truly perfect skin. And it's not because of a gimmicky product on an infomercial, or because of the three different pills my dermatologists had me take. My problem with acne started in high school, which progressively got worse each year to the point where I considered taking Acutane. I've been seen by dermatologists at Kaiser, Sutter, Dr. Kathleen M Welsh in SF, Sue at Your Best Skin, Alisha Valverde at Medical Skin Aesthetics, SKIN Medical Spa in Marina, and many more doctors and estheticians that are well known and have amazing reviews on yelp for helping people with acne. Talk about 'exceeds expectations.' I found Holly on Yelp and saw raves about the peel treatment so thought I'd give it a try as it was reasonably priced and I was looking for more than just a regular facial. She took a lot of time explaining the process during my initial call and went over the post-treatment details, what I could expect, etc. as I wanted to ensure I could manage any potential down-time in regard to impact on work, etc. The treatment itself took about 20-30 min and that was it. Some light peeling over the next few days and my skin just responded so well. The texture and tone were immediately and noticeably improved. I got the treatment Wednesday afternoon, worked from home the next couple of days and the first colleague I saw on Monday said, "Wow, you look amazing." The peeling wasn't 100% gone until day 8, but when I say it's manageable, it's really manageable. Days 4 and 5 were the most dramatic, but still nothing anyone would say anything about. Holly was amazing - like a magician. :) The main concerns for my skin are fine lines, pigmentations (from acne scars), and pores. I went to Holly for a consultation first, she was very friendly and suggested extraction (for pores) and the Haute Couture Peel (retinol). At first I was not too sure about the peel, since it would have 5 days of downtime (redness and visible peeling), which sounds invasive and it costs $140. However, after looking at the before/after photos of other customers - I decided to give it a try. Long and short - the results were amazing - both the extraction and peel. Since it was the first time I am getting a chemical peel, my skin was red for the 1st day, then it started peeling for 3-4 days. My husband, and co-workers could see the visible changes. My skin was vibrant, glowing, the pores and fine lines were drastically reduced. The before/after photos clearly showed reduction in the pigmentation. I hired Holly to do makeup for a bride and 3 bridesmaids. She came to Half Moon Bay to do our makeup and she arrived there bright and early for us. She asked us exactly what we wanted and did a great job. She asked us if we were happy with the way we look when she was done and of course we were, but she also made you feel comfortable enough to let her know if there was something you weren't 100% happy with. Thank you thank you Holly for my amazing lashes! I have had it done once before and they were nice but very uncomfortable so I decided to try it again. These are exactly what I wanted.
