If I could leave a 0 star I would. I have been to this urgent care a few times now and every time it has gotten worse & worse. This last time was my final straw. #1: It took me 2+ hours to be seen & treated with ZERO people ahead of me when I walked in. #2: I got a covid test, strep test, and flu test. I have NEVER had someone shove the test down my throat like this lady did. It was to the point where I was gagging and tearing up (i NEVER do this) then after she was done she said and i quote "tissues are right there" #3: They LOST my strep test, but somehow managed to get my covid and flu test? So I had to retake another strep test. I don't know if they were just having a rough day or what, but I have never felt like more of a nuisance to someone whose job is to care for others. If I could leave 0 I would. I've been here a few times and none of them have been good experiences. Expect to wait a minimum of 1.5 hours no matter the time of day or type of visit and for the staff to have an attitude about everything. To the staff, believe me I don't want to be here either, but it doesn't help that you complain about having patients ... you're an urgent care facility. read more

If I could put lower I would. I left in tears from here. I was sick with a cough and felt awful. I was taken in quickly and sent into the room to get my temp, weight, and blood pressure. She saw my notes and gave me a strep and covid test. I let her know before hand that I struggle with the strep test because I have a terrible gag reflex and she stayed quiet. As soon as she tried she pressed hard and I was gagging and this goes on a few more times until i have water in my eyes. She scoffs at me and says well this is gunna be inconclusive and rolled her eyes at me with annoyed noises. She then sends me back to the lobby to wait. I get called back again and am seen by this very old man who is shaking almost like parkinson's and is my doctor. He checks my throat and lungs and tells me it is a cold like everyone else and will give me a steroid shot. Then a nurse (male) comes in and tells me (female) that the shot is in my butt. I immediately am uncomfortable and have never gotten a shot there nor was told that was the case. I ask to talk with the doctor again to figure out if this is really necessary for a cold and if he's sure it's that. The nurse goes to get the doctor and I hear them arguing about me in the hall and I am so uncomfortable. He then comes in and I ask him a lil more about it and he answers and quickly leaves. Then the nurse comes back in and gives me the shot and i'm sent on my way. I am extremely upset at this point and get in my car with tears rolling down my face. I have never felt so belittled and talked down to. I feel as though the whole thing was just to send me on my way and to check it off the list. read more

Currently sitting on hold and have been for 40min. Had to hang up and call back just to be placed on hold again. Both ladies picked up the phone with an attitude and don't seem to want to do their jobs. All I asked for is a doctors excuse as the doctor I saw told me I was contagious and couldn't go to work-- my boss is requesting the excuse now and it doesn't seem like I'll be getting it. Going in isn't an option due to the fact that I am CONTAGIOUS! So I'm just very confused as to how they expect me to get this excuse especially considering the fact neither woman asked my name or any information for that matter. In the now 50min I've been on hold I'm certain they could have written several excuses and emailed them over. I was really sick. Really really sick, and had been laid up a couple days, just getting worse. So I showed up at 8 AM on a Saturday, and was leaving by 9:15 having seen a doctor, had a few tests done, and a prescription that helped with the worst symptoms. I was happy with the services provided, and would recommend this place to anyone who needs help, especially on the weekend. read more

After leaving pharmacy called medhelp and left a message with a person that I needed my blood pressure medication and my diuretic refilled he did not send a refill to the pharmacy. No one has called back and when I called med help the lady hung up on me today. So no blood pressure medication for me and my BP was running high on Wednesday. I walked in and waited 2 hrs to be seen and and everyone in the waiting area that was here when I walked I have all been seen and even ones that came in after me have all been seen And still sitting and counting! When I asked the desk attendant how long before I am seen seeing as though so many others have been seen and she said she doesn't know next thing you know someone else that came in after some is called back ! I have had success with other MedHelp locations so I assumed I would receive similar health care services. I arrived at MedHelp on Lakeshore at 9:00am for a scheduled appointment. I sat in the lobby for an hour and 23 minutes and asked the front desk politely for an estimated time I would be called back and each time they told me "You are next in line". I was very disappointed with the lack of communication and overall how the patients were treated. It should not take 2 hours and 17 minutes for a negative flu test. read more

Wow! Not what I was expecting for what I thought was a general "walk-in clinic." I called & made an appointment to meet with Dr. Pink Fulmer. This place exceeded my expectations. As it took a few minutes for the front clerk to check me in; it didn't take long (maybe 10-15 mins) before I was being called back. (I am a new patient). The lobby to this office is modern, has plenty of seating, and has a neat "charging station" for smart phone users who are running on their last fumes. :) I got called back and the young lady who took my blood pressure/weight was really nice. We talked briefly of the symptoms and she got me back into my private waiting room. It wasn't long before Dr. Pink was in my room talking to me and asking me about my symptoms and conditions. He has a very calming and relaxing personality which puts a nervous person like me to ease. He truly seemed to care about my concerns and listened to all of my worries about my "condition." He gave me a thorough examination, and even had some tests/xrays done that made me feel a lot better about what I "thought" was happening to my body. He thoroughly went over my results and overall I was really pleased with he and all of his medical assisting staff. They were all really nice as I was super nervous about even being there. (I rarely go to the doctor). I also ended up getting a flu shot while I was there, and the girl who did it (med assistant) was sweet and did the deed quick and painless. I was sad to learn that Dr. P. Fulmer will be retiring sometime this year; but I really liked this office and will give their other doctors a shot. Fast and convenient! I also visited their in-house pharmacy (Rx Pharmacy) and I was thoroughly pleased. They were extremely quick and you can't get any better than picking up your prescriptions up at the same time you saw your doctor. It was cheap and the Pharmacy Owner (can't remember his name) was so down to earth and really pleasant to deal with. Overall, really pleased with this medical experience and glad to know I have this great place so close to where I live!! :) My husband and I will be using them as our PCP. **Side note** They also do walk-in's!! I got here at 8am as soon as they opened. Me and about 6 other people waited outside until 8:10 for them to open the doors. I then waited inside, I was only 3rd in line so I didn't wait long. Then I was sent to my car to fill out paperwork and wait to get tested for flu/strep/covid. I waited for and hour before I just drove and got gas, went to another urgent care where I was seen immediately. I have not yet found a personal doctor and am using urgent clinics occasionally. I've seen two different doctors here in the past year. The place is run well and is clean. The wait times are somewhat long between 30 minutes and 90 minutes. The doctors seem good but desire to be efficient. They addressed the issues at hand and gave good advice that worked. I suspect this clinic may have an advantage as it probably has a larger in-house lab because of the number of doctors practicing, but I don't know for sure. Obviously, I'm willing to return to this clinic but believe I may have found a better place (in another review). read more

Extremely disappointed with MedHelp. While the people working there were nice, the doctor I had, Jon Bernreuter, simply could not figure out what was wrong with me and took advantage of my age, debilitated state, and lack of understanding regarding the insurance system. He ran over 10 tests on me - 1 of which the nurse said didn't make sense to run - and STILL couldn't tell me what was wrong. I asked multiple times if these tests would be covered entirely by insurance and they assured me it would be, so I was completely shocked when a massive bill arrived in the mail. I will never come back here again. I feel that I was completely taken advantage of and am dealing with the consequences. read more

I love Dr Yu and Medhelp. They are always efficient, the doctor is very knowledgable, and it's never a long wait. I think the longest I have waited was about average for my regular internist with whom I have an appointment. Dr Yu also sees patients in a GP/internal medicine practice and by appointment. Medhelp is the best urgent care in Trussville and the best urgent care I have ever been to. read more

Do not waste your time going here. The doctors and nurses are indifferent to your needs. I was given three different antibiotics which destroyed me. It took a week to get a culture back. Everyone else gets lab results back in 3 days. By the time I got on the fourth antibiotic I've been so debilitated that I can hardly get out of bed. I have been trying for 3 days to get the doctor or a nurse to respond to a message. Everywhere else responds within the day, but they very curtly tell you that they don't return messages for 24 hours (if then). Take the trouble to go to Kirklin or a Brookwood system family care doctor. You'll be glad you did. read more

I was sick, feverish and achy--you get the idea--and the doctor told me to guzzle NyQuil and Robitussin, gave me a steroid shot and sent me on my way. He didn't even bother to test me for the flu. I was under the distinct impression he was in a hurry to leave and unfortunately I was sick in bed for four more days. My husband went two days later, was promptly given a nasal swab, dosed with Tamiflu and diagnosed with the flu. Next time I'll find a real doctor, one who cares about his patients and not getting off early on Saturday. read more

Insulted. This is my primary physician and i went in thirty minutes before close because i was bitten by a stray dog. The bite was minor as i was able to break it up quickly from it attacking my dog on a jog. I simply wanted to play it safe and get antibiotics and possibly a new tetanus shot if necessary. I was turned away because their current staff refused any trauma case at that time in the evening. Being a senior college student with little financial help, I would suffer greatly skipping class and work the following morning or day. I was apparently expected to go to the emergency room and pay for these fees if it came to that. Genuinely upset my case would not even be examined and referred if necessary. Would not recommend if you value a personal aid experience. read more

I went to Medhelp for treatment of a UTI. Without my permission or knowledge, they gave me a pregnancy test. Not only is this unethical, but since I had just finished my period, ever if I was pregnant (no reason to believe I was), the test couldn't possibly have shown a positive result. Be careful of this place. They just want to get your bill as high as possible. read more

I dont get sick very often. I dont end up in these places too much. They get a bad rap for a reason. This location gets 2 stars because the staff seems nice enough, even if questionably competent. I felt like they just threw a diagnosis at me, which also happened to be a misdiagnosis. They took blood, and although the doctor said my counts looked fine, still put me on antibiotics for a middle ear infection...which upon expensive later visit to the ER, found out was entirely not the case. These people treat everyone as if they have a cold, flu, or bronchitis. When I described my symptoms to the doctor, they were quickly dismissed. I didn't even know what prescription I was picking up or how much it cost when I went to the pharmacy. All I was told was that my prescription had been called in. Lesson learned. My advice to anyone seeing any doctor is to ask plenty of questions and assert yourself, especially if you are not confident that they are paying adequate attention to you. Just because you don't have a primary care physician doesn't mean you have to accept sub-par medical care. read more

As a medical professional, I'm not going to go see a doctor unless I absolutely have to. I went to this urgent care on a weekend when I couldn't go see my regular doctor. Dr. Orso, who saw me, did just that--looked at me, shouted out a diagnosis and sent me on my way. He was rude and rushed (spent less than 60 seconds in the room), didn't even touch me, and became angry with me when I asked about whether I could go to work or not. He also completely dismissed the primary reason I had come in, and told me treatment for my primary complaint was "excessive." It would have been nice just to be listened to and felt like he gave a flying flip about his patient. read more

I went here for a UTI and they were sooooo rude. I walked in and saw a girl sitting at the desk. She was talking to someone that I couldn't see so she looked up at me and kept talking. So I'm watching her the whole time and I finally asked where do I sign in. That's when the other girl she was talking to came from around the corner and they both looked mad because I had interrupted their conversation. She asked what type of insurance I had and I told her so she starts grabbing things while she's still talking. Once she gives me the form to fill out, another patient walked in and signed up. I guess she couldn't stay so she walked out all mad. The two girls went to talking about her while I'm standing there. Gentleman from the back came and got me and he greeted me. He was the only one out of everyone besides the doctor that greeted me. No one told me their name, what I was doing or what they were about to do. Doctor tried to treat me for an STD and I didn't have that. So I told him no I'd wait until he got the results. A week passed by and no one called w/the results. I finally called and was told yea we got them but hold on let me ask the doctor what it says then she comes back and says everything negative smh never will I ever attend here. read more

This is based solely on an employee that I had to deal with on the phone, and is in no way a reflection on the treatment I received. I had an insurance issue, and spoke with "Mia" in an effort to correct it and get my insurance to pay something that it should have taken care of, but this lady named Mia was completely unprofessional and unhelpful. I don't know how to say this, but her language was very "hood", she was completely unprofessional, I actually thought it was a joke at first, but unfortunately it wasn't; as a professional black woman I almost felt embarrassed for her. She was hostile, and acted like I was bothering her...I'm pretty sure its her freaking job to handle these situations. At one point I heard her yell at someone and call them stupid; she wasn't talking to me so I can only assume it was some poor soul who has to work for this person...how unprofessional! Yelling at employees while on the phone with a customer! You've got to be joking! This person said that she was the manager when I asked to speak with a manager. Any organization that will allow someone like this to manage anything is an organization that will not be getting any of my money, and I will do my best to ensure that all of my friends and coworkers know about it also. After telling me that I was wrong several times, while almost yelling at me, she actually tried to get me to make a payment on my account! How about you do your job and refile the claim with my insurance, which told me I was covered for! Never again! Medical treatment / medical professionals 10/10, "Mia's" professionalism and customer service 0 / 10! If my experience is typical of "Mia's" behavior I would guess that your business is losing a lot of money because of her lack of professionalism. read more
