The school enforces a very strict 9:00 a.m. arrival policy--if you are even one minute late, your child is not allowed to enter. This policy was never clearly communicated during the tour, so parents should read the contract very carefully. Even for doctor's appointments, they expect everything to be completed before 9:30 a.m. and require advance notice. For children under four, who frequently get sick, this lack of flexibility is unreasonable and unrealistic. The extracurricular programs were also a waste of time and money. My son was enrolled in soccer classes (ages 8-10), and we never received any weekly updates, photos, or videos. Despite repeatedly asking for feedback, we were never informed about how our son was doing in these classes. The administration was another major issue. Our interactions with Aliya were extremely frustrating. The school is holding $3,600 of our money and refusing to either refund it or apply it toward our son's tuition. We had to delay our younger son's start date for personal reasons, and Aliya confirmed via email that the $3,600 could be used whenever our son started. They have since changed their stance and are now refusing to honor that agreement. Please be very cautious before committing to this school, as they seem to find every possible opportunity to keep parents' money. We moved our elder child out within a few months, and he is doing significantly better at a different Montessori school.

The original start date was set for the end of the year. When my plans changed, I contacted the center to request a revised start date. I was explicitly assured, both over email and verbally, that this would be accommodated and that the deposit would be carried over. The center has now reversed this position and is not honoring those commitments. They required us to repeat the tour, during which the staff member conducting it was dismissive and disrespectful. They are also requesting an additional assessment. When I asked whether the deposit would be refunded if the assessment was unsuccessful, they explicitly refused. Withholding such a significant amount of money under these circumstances is unacceptable and raises serious concerns about their business practices. This reflects poor ethics, lack of transparency, and unprofessional handling of families. Commitments made in writing and verbally were not upheld.

We have a beautiful house on the border of Issaquah, Newcastle and Renton that use to be zoned the Issaquah School District (where my 2 older children attended, but sadly being on the border line and new construction got us bumped into the Renton school district. We gave the Renton school district K through 2nd to get things right, but it was terrible so we finally faced a decision - move to a better school district or find a better private school. Since we loved our home and neighbors so much, we decided to send our son to Sacred Heart where we were already attending mass as practicing Roman Catholics. From the open house, to "the interview" visit and through my son's first year at Sacred Heart - everything has exceeded our expectations beyond our wildest dreams. The staff is well paid and it shows because they are eager and willing to get a lot accomplished yet make your child feel loved and excited about school. Our son loves going so much that we seriously considered using it as leverage against him when he goes astray because he never wants to miss a day. Despite being in an extremely wealthy 1% part of town, the families have been warm and inviting without any of the snobbery you might expect from 99% of the people we have met. The entire staff - especially the principal - are so engaged that they even take turns helping to open doors for parents at drop off circle in the morning! Show me any public school that does that! Our son loves it and we love being a part of the Sacred Heart family. While it is expensive with 3 years of price increases coming, we do feel it is worth it for what you get. It's also a lot cheaper than moving / re-financing, so if you want a wholesome catholic education that feels like a top notch private school then this is it! Oh and in 6 months my son in 3rd grade has picked up Spanish, typing (on a dedicated Surface Pro!) and sign language! What's more, the day is packed with activity so he never gets bored, but the 3 recesses also means he doesn't feel the pressure that you'd find in a typical Montessori school. Oh, and the lunches are fantastic - unlike the toxic waste they serve in public schools so that was a big plus too. Lastly, I have to point out that prayer and faith are a big part of the program which has been a great relief to us. In these days of political correctness gone wild, it's great to see God and Jesus getting the place they deserve in the curriculum as well as opening and closing day prayers! Ruined everything. I thought this would finally be the place for my special children, as we've been going from school to school for years now. And at first, it seemed like it. However, my child (7) got into an altercation with an older boy at the time, named Gerald, who was aged 12 at the time. While I do not wish to go into details, there was almost legal trouble involved as Grady wished to pursue legal action, threatening to sue on counts of battery and defamation (which he brought upon himself). Luckily, a bystander recorded the incident and uploaded it to the online platform TikTok, which gained significant traction, causing the video to go viral. Gerald was forced to change his name (to Grady Moore, I believe) in a feeble attempt to hide from public scrutiny. I mean come on, getting beat up by a 7-year-old half your size is pretty humiliating. Anyways, my child went on to continue his education here at OWS until 6th grade (we had to move), where he subsequently started attending the local middle school. All in all, the teachers are very competent and terrific, but some of the student body is troubled, to say the least.

There have been one too many incidences that have occurred at this school with no proper communication with parents. There is no transparency from faculty members. Each faculty member are all mandated reporters which leaves me speechless as I'm sure there is a policy and procedure for all incidences that may occur with any of our kids. Yet incidences continue to arise without transparent communication and explanations to us parents. According to public records this institution has been cited for safety of our children to a lack of planned emergency planning this past year in 2025 which you all can find from public records on (find child care wa . Org) and input the schools name/address. I have also provided screenshots of my findings. Not only is safety a concern but also the turnover rate this establishment has with teachers is signaling a deeper issue in this institution. Surly as an educator/owner of a school one must know the significant impact that may have on our kids. Studies have shown a "connection of high turnover with loss of instructional quality, weaker teacher collaboration, and more classroom inconsistency" as Stephen Gibbons have done a study on. It is without question if you want your children to attend a safe and well managed school then this isn't the place you want them to be. The schools quality of care and lack in skill to care for our kids really shows.

The biggest issues for us were safety, communication, and accountability. In our experience, we did not feel confident that incidents were being properly documented or reported to parents in a clear and timely manner. With young children, accidents can happen, but parents should be informed honestly and promptly, and there should be proper records of what occurred. Our experience did not give us confidence that this was being handled appropriately. When we raised concerns, the response felt defensive and business-focused rather than child-centered. We did not feel heard, reassured, or treated like partners in our child's care. We also felt that the school often appeared to do the minimum rather than proactively creating the safest and most supportive environment possible. In addition, the number of school closures and days off, including some that were not federal holidays, added to our frustration. We also came away seriously questioning the leadership of the school. Based on our interactions, the leadership did not appear to demonstrate the judgment, communication skills, accountability, or child-centered approach we would expect from people responsible for young children. Rather than giving us confidence, the way issues were handled made us feel more concerned. For us, this was not about one isolated incident. It was the overall pattern: poor communication, lack of transparency, safety concerns, and leadership that did not seem willing or able to take parent concerns seriously. Stability, our child did not enjoy consistency in their education, given the high level of turnover of staff. Choosing a school for your child is a major decision. Parents deserve to feel that their child is safe, cared for, and that concerns will be handled with honesty, empathy, and accountability. Based on our experience, we cannot say that was the case here.
