So it's 9.30pm. I've just woken up from a three hour nap despite my protests that I wasn't feeling…read morethe effects of jetlag since leaving Edinburgh. And I was STARVING. Cue me checking out deliveroo and ubereats for something delicious that could arrive quickly. I stumbled across Triakosia and given the proximity, just decided to head on over before closing time. Now it's located on the main Street area of Clifton Hill (25 years in Melbourne and I just learnt this suburb existed). Given the late hour the place was totally empty, nonetheless I was greeted with a smile and an open kitchen. I ordered the Penelope- a lamb souvlaki with potato. After a short wait I was given my dinner and headed back to mine. Now this is a kebab made with love. It's smaller than your usual kebab but the pita bread was so soft and warm, the lamb cooked perfectly, the tatziki was so creamy and garlicky and I could taste hints of lemon as I ate. Added to that was some tomato and onion. I do think the lamb could have done with a bit more salt and overall more onion (that's just my preference) but given the late hour, I was so impressed at the way this kebab was lovingly made. Also, the interior is decorated really nicely with a super chill atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Which, honestly you should probably do. But I ended up there last time my brother was in town, out with him and a bunch of his doctor friends, celebrating them finishing a round of exams. And it was nice. We shared a few meat platters and a few seafood platters between us, and they were tasty. Tasty enough to justify the money? For me, probably not. But then I'm a poor struggling writer man. You may find it a worthwhile investment

The restaurant is traditionally decorated with elegant white table cloths, stunning glassware and soft inviting lighting there are tables both inside and out so you may choose depending on weather. The menu is very authenitc Greek cuisine, there is so much to choose from and everything is fantastic! The banquets are a really great option as they allow you to sample quite a few different signature dishes over the one night. I have two favourites at Kyma, 1. Kalamari sta Karvouna - charcoal grilled calamari with lemon, you are served the entire squid and it has been cooked to perfect very tasty and tender. 2. Octapothi sta Karvouna - grilled octopus the tenticles are very large but the marinade in this dish is incredible. The staff are very friendly and welcoming always happy to have a laugh with you, Kyma is a favourite for me dining in St Kilda definitely recommend if you are after an authentic Greek experience.
