The waiter who took our order was much better but still was missing good customer service skills. Asked for water for the table and wasn't delivered until our 4th time asking. We ordered the Med Platter which tasted great. Food overall was good for the price. Souvlaki and lamb chop were full of flavour and pretty juicy. Gyro was slighlty salty for my taste. Food, portions and service were great! We had to be in and out for a show and they made it happen. The gyro pita was delicious and the restaurant seemed to have a lot of regulars coming in where the staff was very personable with each. Love a solid on the nose recommendation! What an amazing meal. The restaurant is tucked into a strip mall at the end but transforms once you walk inside. We made a reservation and it seems that you would need one (we went on a Friday). We shared the calamari and saganaki (it gets flambed) to start and then split the Med Platter (with extra potatoes - that were spectacular!!!!). This place has got me saying OPA!!! From each time I clumsily dropped my utensils, to when our server brings over a enormous plate of QUALITY & DELICIOUS Greek food. With its super reasonable price, even for seafood & lamb, I'm so glad my family & I had dinner here! SAGANAKI - so fun to watch the waitress light a piece of cheese on fire. The citrus topped on the charred cheese also gave it a tangy flavour to have with the soft pita bread. MEDITERRANEO PLATTER - easily feeds 3 people. For starters, it came with: -Moussaka (absolute FAVOURITE dish I had, it's like a Greek Shepard's pie with creamed potatoes, saucey ground meet, & eggplants & zucchini layered within) -Dolmadakia -Side Vegetables The main dish had: -Lamb Chops -Chicken Souvlaki -Pork Souvlaki -Potato & Rice (tasted buttery & seasoned) All the meats were juicy, not dry, and deliciously seasoned with parsley flakes, dill & citrus flavours. I especially liked the lamb and chicken. The tzatziki sauce was super thick and went well with the souvlaki. LAMB STEW- so warm & comforting. The tomato, celery, bell pepper & onion flavours all combined incredibly with the tender lamb chunks. PORK TENDERLOIN - lean meat but not dry, again a comforting and flavourful dish. //DESSERTS// Do yourself a favour and don't forget to save room for it. I liked this place! Everything on their menu except for the pork is HALAL. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and reminiscent of Greece. They have a decent menu and it is on the pricier side. I got a chicken breast with a crab and asparagus salad and cheese, a side of rice, and roasted veggies My family got shrimp souvlaki with rice and salad, and chicken souvlaki with rice and salad. We also got bruschetta. The rice was delicious and pillowy, the salads were delicious, and the potatoes tasted really good. My dish was alright, I wasn't extremely fond of it but it was tasty. However, when I got home and had it the next day for leftovers, the flavours were REALLY good. The bruschetta was delicious! The shrimp souvlaki wasn't the best, not super flavourful, pretty average. Fireside's shrimp souvlaki is better. The chicken souvlaki was good according to my sister. Portion sizes were large and food was warm. 3 stars because we waited 45 minutes for our food and weren't checked on or anything, service was just okay, and food was good but overpriced. We were in Kitchener and one of us who works near to Mediterraneo suggested we go for a quick bite. The restaurant was not busy on a Saturday afternoon and we quickly seated. The interior is nicely decorated and felt as if we're in Greece. The waitress was top notch in service, I must add. We ordered two Veg Moussakas, one Greek Omlet and one Veg Fettuccine between the five of us. The Moussakas come with a Greek Salad and a serving of Lentil Rice. The veggies (eggplants, potatoes in tomato sauce) is covered with bechamel sauce. The veggies and sauce are delicious is the star of this dish. The salad was great, but normally we request that they go light on the dressing - which we didn't - and hence the dressing was a bit too much. The rice perfectly cooked with lentils and onions, but again too greasy for our taste. The Fettuccine comes with veggies which was a welcome change and went perfectly with the noodles. There is garlic bread and Parmesan cheese on the side, again a welcome change as we don't like too much Parmesan Cheese. The Greek Omlet is different and actually works well - rather than wrapped as served elsewhere, here it is mixed and Omlet is actually a bit firm than the fluffy which I was used too. A bit too much salt, but I guess Feta Cheese did it. Also comes with a pita bread ( a welcome change rather than bread) and Greek Salad. Mmm after grab a greek closed down in plaza I could never find a nearby place for my favourite souvlaki, lemon potatoes, rice, and greek salad platters. I don't like pita pit or auntys kitchen ones although they had similar but not identical food options because they dont allow substitution of fries for something else. We drove here today for dinner. The atmosphere is very Greek inspired...blue and white, flowers in vases, bricks etc. We decided on the platter to share which came with two additional plates on the side. There were grape leaves stuffed with ground beef etc and those weren't very appealing to the eye and wouldn't be something we would order again. The eggplant lasagna was unique but a little too heavy. The platter itself was amazing and so satisfying! The lamb chops were seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The pork and chicken shish kebabs were a little dry but still acceptable. The potatoes were so delicious and lemony. Rice also had great flavour and the grains were easily separable from one another. Vegetables had such vibrant colour and was a good break to cut the grease although it wasn't too greasy either! Server was a bit grumpy today. read more

So happy to find tasty authentic Mediterranean food in Waterloo! The atmosphere inside is very casual and homey. Their menu offers a wide selection of Greek/Mediterranean food. Our group of 7 ordered the Calamari and Saganaki appetizers, as well as the Mediterraneo Platter to share. We also ordered a main entree each. The portions were HUGE, so needless to say, we all left with food babies and had a lot of food left over to take home! First, I have to say that the strong lemon juice and parsley taste to their tzatziki sauce is just so delicious and unlike any other I've ever had! Still dreaming about it as I type this... Calamari - The batter was very light and crispy, and seasoned well so that it wasn't too salty. The octopus was chewy and tasted perfect when dipped into the tzatziki sauce. Saganaki - Probably my favourite dish here. The waitress brought the fried cheese to our table and flambéed it right in front of us, while shouting "Opa!" It was an exciting, albeit short-lived, experience. The cheese, eaten with their soft pita bread, was absolutely amazing. The Mediterraneo Platter: Moussaka - The blend of eggplant, zucchini and potatoes with the sauce was very smooth and creamy. The taste of ground beef at the bottom layer enriched the flavour of this dish. Pork and Chicken Souvlaki - The meat was surprisingly tender; I often find that souvlaki at some Greek restaurants tend to be on the dryer side. Lamb Chops - Two small pieces; wish there was a stronger lamb flavour, and was a bit hard and dry. Dolmadakia - Grape leaves stuffed with ground beef, rice and herbs. I personally wasn't a big fan of this dish. It was very mushy and the taste of the grape leaves was a bit overwhelming, much so that I could barely taste the beef. Veal Parmesean - If you love cheese, you'll love this dish! It even came with extra Parmesan cheese and I dumped the whole thing onto the pasta and veal. The breaded veal was already topped with cheese, and tasted absolutely glorifying. The marinara sauce on the pasta had a slight hint of sweetness to it, and was very saucy. Overall, the food was amazing and the service was fantastic. Our waitress was very friendly and described each dish she put down on our table, so we knew what we were consuming. A truly family establishment that proudly displays authentic Mediterranean food. We ordered the saganaki as our starter. It was presented with the flame and a loud 'OPA.' Found this unique family owned restaurant in Waterloo. The food is very authentic and portions are decent, I leave stuffed everytime! I've been here with a larger group before and the service was slightly on the slower side but it was because many of their items on the menu are freshly made to order. I have heard many good things about the shareable platters but haven't had the chance to try it myself. I've tried the Gyros in a Pita and it is delicious! Most dishes come with their greek salad which is a good balance for the heaviness of the meats in the dishes. I do believe they cater and also deliver if needed. read more

Came here for dinner with three other people and we all shared the Mediterraneo Platter and Charboiled Calamari. The calamari is a really tasty appetizer and I would highly recommend. The mediterraneo platter is really good to share with your table. There were four of us, and we could barely finish, the platter is HUGE and definitely worth the $40 price tag. It gives you a taste of everything, which is really good for people who are newer to Greek food. It has moussaka, pork and chicken souvlaki, lamb chops, dolmadakla, roasted potatoes and rice. Mmmmm delicious Greek food in Waterloo. I found this place through Yelp and I am so glad that I made the decision to come here. When I arrived, the outside wasn't too convincing with the old-fashioned sign but don't let the outside stop you from stepping afoot in this restaurant! I've ordered the Dolmadakia (grape leaves stuffed with ground beef and rice; $9), the Seafood platter ($23), and last but not least, the Mediterraneo platter ($39.95). Everything I had here is seasoned beautifully and I would not hesitate to come back. The potatoes have this lemon seasoning to them, which make them so delicious. The prices for the entrees seem steep but with the quantity and quality, they are definitely worth it. I shared an appetizer and seafood platter with a friend and we were beyond stuffed. The Mediterraneo platter comes with two appetizers and a HUGE plate that could probably feed over three to four people. It was delicious. Best Greek food in the city. Went with my parents for dinner and ordered the Mediterraneo platter and charbroiled calamari for the table. The calamari appetizer could have been a little larger but the calamari was cooked perfectly. The platter is suggested for 2 people on the menu but was plenty for the 3 of us, great value and variety. Best moussaka I've ever had. There are so many great reviews about this place, I actually feel bad writing a negative one, but my experience with Mediterraneo was not a good one. I used to live in the Beaches, Toronto, and venturing out for great food on the Danforth was one of my guilty pleasures. There were so many fantastic places - Pantheon being my absolute favourite. When I moved to Waterloo, I was a bit disappointed there weren't more Greek Restaurants. My wife suggested we try Mediterraneo this summer. The place is well designed, comfortable, and very Greek in design. My wife and both ordered the village salad, and Calamari to start. Neither of us were overly impressed with the village salad, which is actually kind of difficult to mess up, and the calamari was decent - not the best I've had, but not the worst. For entrees, I ordered the pork, and my wife the chicken souvlaki - which were decent. What I found completely unacceptable was the service. Our server was blatantly rude, and inattentive to the point I had to get up out seat twice to ask for refills. When we, finally, received our bill, I gave her $100 bill. She said she couldn't make change for me and told me to walk to the 7-11 to break it. (I'm sorry, but I was under the impression she was serving me, not the other way around). I paid way through university tending bar, and would constantly go out of my way to make sure my customers felt like they receiving a great service experience. Why, because it I was a reflection of my employers business, I enjoyed helping my customers, and my earnings depended on it. Sadly, Mediterraneo decided to hire a server who was only interested in doing the bare minimum to collect a pay cheque. They should seriously consider implementing better staff training, and weed out the bad apples before hiring them. Normally I would give a restaurant a second chance, but I doubt I'll ever go back. read more

This place is a true gem in North Waterloo. The environment is perfect for a first date, a 101st date, a family meal, a business lunch, and anything else. The food is prepared perfectly every time, and the proportions are plenty. The potatoes, in particular, are to die for. And the location is a stone's throw from the expressway, at University and Bridge. Often, the chef walks out to say hello and thank you for eating at his restaurant. The service - the waitress, maybe an off day for her, did not ask me how I wanted my lamb - which came well done while I would have preferred it medium rare. She also did not give me a steak knife. I was left trying to cut it with a butter knife. She never came back to check on me. & by the time she came around to take another table's order I asked for a steak knife, I was more then halfway done the lamb. & it's not like the place was packed. From what I saw she was the only waitress working, one other table just leaving as I got there & another table of 2 came in after me. The decor/ambiance is nice -- unless you sit near the front door. The foyer is not well built and you will hear a big THUNK every time someone enters/leaves. The interior is very cozy and they even have a patio. The food was excellent. We ordered Crispy Calamari for appetizer and it was slightly dry but delicious. I've visited this restaurant about 4 times with my family, however, I AM NEVER going back there again. The service is always very slow and subpar but we've come back for the food since it is one of the only greek restaurants in the area. BUT during my last visit I found a hair in my calamari order embedded in the deep fried breaded portion of the calamari which made me gag. When this was pointed out to my server she proceeded to give me a rude look. When she walked up to the kitchen window, the cook asked what was wrong with it she answered in the most rude and LOUD tone that she "doesn't know why" and to "just make a new plate". She then proceeded to rudely serve us. This was the RUDEST server I have ever experienced. My father also asked for take out boxes for the rest of his plate and she gives us a box but takes away ALL OUR UTENSILS so we were left unable to pack our food after paying the bill until she finally attended to our table again. I DO NOT recommend going to this restaurant unless you want TERRIBLE and SLOW service. read more
