I love Arabesque! I spend most of my time not in the Waterloo area these days and Arabesque is one of the restaurants that I always make sure to go to when in the area. Such a wonderful place to have a meal. Absolutely every aspect of our meal was excellent: We tried the dip sampler and my friend had the chicken schwarma platter. The dips were all delicious and rich, and the pita was fresh and warm. The garlic aioli was also strong and creamy. The atmosphere was very family friendly with an almost cafeteria-like feel. Very casual and comfortable environment, with fast and easy service. The washrooms also surprised me with tampons and pads for anyone who needed one. I've eaten here on several occasions and they've always served consistently good Lebanese food and you really get the most bang for you buck. ENORMOUS portion sizes for ~$10.99-12.99 for the lunch specials. //THE FOOD// Lentil Soup (5/5)- deliciously warming, thick, seasoned to perfection with a hint of lemon juice to lighten it up. The pita chips soaked up the soup and added a great crunchy texture to it. Beef kebab (4/5)- seasoned great and the beef flavour really stood out, just a little dry though Chicken Shawarma (4/5)- again seasoned great, a little dry but the yogurty sauce that comes with it definitely fixes that. Falafel (5/5): fried crunchy on the outside and the inside remains fluffy and pipping warm. Bits of parsley and seasoning inside was just right! The rice & fries that come with the platters were average, the Fatoush salad is my favourite (the sourness is refreshing and the pita chips and fantastic), and the hummus is so smooth and it's simplicity is so delicious, and the pita bread is fresh with a great crust and fluffy inside. read more

Every time I visit my parents in Cambridge, we often order food from Arabesque Family Restaurant. This place offers great Middle Eastern dishes and it's located all the way in Kitchener. You can consider this restaurant as proof that as long as the food is great, people will find a way to get to you. I can't speak about the restaurant itself and the service it provides since I have never eaten there before. This review is solely based on the takeout aspect of their business. We usually order the 1Kg platter. This platter consists of the following: 10 Skewers (Shish Kebob, Shish Tawook, Kefta Kebob), one small dip of either baba ghanoush or humus, one large salad (choice of Tabouli, Fattoush or Red Cabbage), one large fries or rice and 5 pita bread. We usually give them a call ahead of time and go and pick it up. We have never been disappointed in their dishes so far. The portions of the skewers are very generous and the rice and pita bread are great. Plus, there's always leftovers for the next day. Next time you are in the Tri-City area (Cambridge, Kitchener and Waterloo) and you are in the mood for Middle Eastern food, give this restaurant a chance. You won't be disappointed! read more

This place is such a gem! It's not a place where you'll find university students who come to grab a bite, that's for sure. It's geared more towards larger groups like families who stop by from the highway or locals who know what's good. It's out of the way and I can't get here without a car but well worth the trip. The service today was a little below average. I understand that it was during dinner, but I think the server can at least remember to bring us water. We basically did not get the water until we reminded him maybe 15 mins later (I think it's important to say that during this time, he did not come to our table once to check if we got anything and I called over another server to remind him). He's actually a really nice and polite server--he may have just been under a little stress today, who knows? Food is always a bit slow to get to the table but that means that everything is made fresh out of the grill or oven. Definitely worth the wait. I always go for their entrees. It comes with pita, hummus, your choice of salad, and your choice of rice or fries. I usually get the chicken tawouk, but today, I decided to try the chicken masouhab (boneless chicken legs). Man, it was such a good decision! The meat was tender and quite juicy, and as always the rice was nicely seasoned. They give you a choice of three salads: tabouli, fattoush or red cabbage. My advice is to go with fattoush if you're not familiar with middle Eastern food. It's a good mix of lettuce, red cabbage and various other veggies whereas tabouli is just parsley and red cabbage is...red cabbage. Overall, I would really recommend this place if you want some good middle Eastern food! I guarantee that you will come out full and satisfied. read more

This is the first restaurant I went to after moving into Waterloo-Kitchener area, and I'm glad I did. We ordered beef shawarma along with Turkish coffee and tea. The beef was really soft, the pita very fluffy and the side salad super flavorful. The server offered us their home-made hot sauce which was the ultimate bomb. The food here is awesome. Came here with two other friends on a Wednesday evening and we each ordered a shawarma plate and shared the Muhamarrah dip. The muhamarrah dip is AMAZING. It's a walnut based dip and I've never had it before I came here and now I am addicted. I could drink this stuff it's so good. Their pita is also super fluffy and fresh! The shawarma plates were gigantic and the salad it comes with is perfectly tangy (especially the red cabbage). I also loved their garlic sauce. The only reason why I wouldn't give it five stars was that I found my meat to be a little more bland than I would have liked (I got the mixed beef and chicken plate) but everything else was absolutely awesome. The shawarma plates are a little on the expensive side but they are genuinely huge. I had leftovers for two days! I am a fan and definitely will be back! read more

Going in I had very high hopes, overall great food, very flavourful. The waitresses were good, but slow, probably because we were a large group, and it was very busy. The washrooms were a nightmare, though. Dirty, smelly, and inconvenient. It was very uncomfortable, the toilets were leaking, and there wasn't any toilet paper. Really good shawarma. Worth the drive from University plaza for a proper sized plate with plenty of meat. Also the red cabbage is very unique, i highly recommend trying it. Good for families, however if you require vegan food, their options are a little limited. Otherwise for the price, you can definitely get a full meal and a little extra for the next day. read more

My Favourite is Shawarma Plate, & is ample enough for 2 regular eaters (with a leftover-snack if you'd nibbled recently) Every menu item is good here. The Pitas are always Moist. I am happy that KW now has a *nice* place to get some great Lebanese food. I tried both take-out and dining in at Arabesque Cafe. My first experience was sour - instead of giving us fresh fries to accompany our falafels, they took some old ones an reheated them in a microwave. Gross! The second trip was much better. The food was fantastic and presented nicely on our plates...but there was only one server working at the time so the meal progressed slowly. Try this place. I will be going back. read more

Came here on a Friday afternoon for lunch, the lunch specials are a great deal! Great value for your money. I had the falafel plate which came with a pita, salad (fatoush or tabouli), hummus, garlic sauce and either rice or fries ($10.99). I also had a Turkish coffee ($2). The coffee was great, strong like a Turkish coffee should be! The portions are quite large. The garlic sauce is delicious and the hummus was very smooth and flavourful. The falafel were large and seasoned well. I really liked both salads, they were fresh and their respective dressings complemented the veg well. The pita chips in the fatoush were excellent! Not entirely sure how to review this place, also this review is from memory (over 6 months) so take it with a grain of salt. In summary this place is mediocre quality but gigantic quantity You can plan to spend anywhere between $10-$20 dollars and get one of the largest meals and drinks you've ever had. I think I had a quarter chicken plate, which came with rice, salad, pita, hummus. I also ordered a medium size mango drink which came in very big glass. It was definitely a challenge to finish all the food. The quality of the food was 3-star, it wasn't bad but it wasn't great, The rice tasted a big stale but the pita was fresh. The chicken was also fresh and tasty. The hummus was mediocre. The place itself is quite large and was not busy, they also offer hookah (shisha/ nargile) smoking inside which might make it a no-go for some people. We called in our order the other night for pick up. When we called they told us they were out of beef, so my husband got a chicken dish. When he got there, they were out of falafel too - my husband ended up having to go elsewhere to get this. Over all the food was 'good'. The pita was really good and the baba ganoush was ok, very sweet for what should be a savoury food. The place was really loud and the staff seemed unorganized.
