Sister restaurant of Osteria Basilico but not quite as good. Good option if the other is fully booked though. Overall, the service and quality of food was decent. Wandering around first night in London with no sleep for 36 hours we happened on M. Can't wait to come back. Everything was to perfection.

I went here on a lark and didn't now a thing about it but I was sincerely impressed. I looked very critically with my GF and we really could find a single thing wrong with it. It's one of these places where everyone that works there is Italian and the recipes are from grandma. I had a simple but mind blowing tagliatelle with veal ragu and it was just perfect. I am shocked this place only has one review ... but the fact that the reviewer gives 3 stars after such glowing commentary is the greater sin. I just traveled through Florence and Rome and can tell you the meal I shared with my colleague was one of the best I have ever had ... of any cuisine ... Our two apps were wonderful ... and the pumpkin ravioli was delish. We also tried a fettucine with porcetta in demiglaze that was memorable and delicious. A favorite amongst locals, Meditteraneo serves unfussy good Italian food at reasonable prices. I like the laid back atmosphere and the decoration that really conveys that light and lively spirit of the Mediterranean. The service is friendly and in general good, and one thing I love is they serve your table a basket of warm bread, which is always welcomed when you are starving and waiting for your food. The pastas are to die for, I went with a couple of friends, we ordered different dishes and these just went around the table till we where using the bread to scrape off the remains of the sauces. We also had a hefty amount of wine; they have a great selection we chose bottles of Chianti. I strongly suggest you book ahead only because its so popular it does get pretty busy. read more

It's a good, steady, Italian restaurant. The food is good, the atmosphere is good, the service is good. Pasta dishes are £10-15, then maybe a bit more for meat and fish dishes. The one thing that is a bit annoying is that (on Saturday night at least), they have rigid 'sittings', so they'll ask you if you want 7:30 or 9:30 and if you go for 7:30, you'll be fairly well swept from your table at 9:30. read more

Visiting London on business. We actually came to Notting Hill to eat at the restaurant next door but there was an hour wait. Mediterraneo had a shorter wait and looked very nice. The food was fantastic. Burrata to start was buttery and a big portion. I had the Linguini with clams and my co worker had the Filet with truffle marinade special. Flavors were perfect. The only reason I give it four stars is that the service was very hands off- it felt like they were just a little too busy for us. We weren't in a hurry so it was fine, just not very personal. But it was a meal to remember. read more

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants but is not somewhere I'd rush back to after my last visit. I went with my partner and mum and we were hoping to be able to talk. Sadly, when we arrived, the music was playing full blast. I asked if the waiter could turn this down which he duly did - slightly. However then it seemed to ramp up with a rendition of Happy Birthday for another party. Then a big and very noisy group sat next to our table which meant conversation was pretty much impossible. We had a DELIGHTFUL dinner at the neighborhood gem. They have a great menu with delicious nightly specials. We had the SeaBass Carpaccio and the Beef Carpaccio for appetizer (starters) one was the elegant and light starter you would expect, and the beef carpaccio with shaved artichokes and parmigiana, rustic and delicious. Both perfectly executed. We had two specials for main course that did not disappoint. The Handmade Pasta Cacio e Pepe was everything this classic dish from Rome should be. Peppery, creamy (from the sauce using pasta water) and the pasta perfectly al dente. We had the prawns arrabiata and they were large, plump and delicious with just the right amount of spice. Mediterraneo was our first Notting Hill experience some years ago and we have been coming back ever since. It has a great atmosphere and is both cosy and charming. The bread and oil they serve for you to get started are just divine and the dishes are quite good as well. But above all, they have the best tiramisù in all of London (although it's a little unconventional but that's what makes it so good). Compared to similar places in London (or Notting Hill for that matter) Mediterraneo is not excessively pricy. True, the 'sittings' are quite rigid (especially on Saturdays) and you should definitely be aware of that when you reserve a table. So you are well-advised to take the 9.30 slot if you want to enjoy a relaxed dinner with an almost open end. And if you keep your eyes open, you will easily spot a celeb sitting right next to you at one of the tables read more

This place is amazing. I went the first time about 5 years ago. I went again about a week ago. The service and food remain great. We were a party of 10 and they managed to bring out all the mains together. Presentations was incredible: I had the sea bass baked in salt, and my partner had the tuna. They also have affordable wine selections by caraffe. Overall it's an expensive night out, but if you like to splurge on fine food then this is a great option. read more

Incredibly rude, bad service, and fairly average food I have to say, especially considering the steep price. The manager and staff were extremely rude to us when it got to 9.30 and we were told very bluntly that the next customers were waiting and please would we finish our wine and dessert at the bar! When we reminded them that they only brought our main courses at 8.50 (we all noticed that as we waited a fair while, and the food came at different times too), they accused us of ordering late. We ordered by 7.45pm after being sat for 15 minutes, and hassled for an order....enough said. Tell you what, I never write reviews, but was so appalled by the disgusting treatment and over-priced evening that I have done so now, and hope others take this as a warning. read more

Great food. Crispy calamari is outstanding. Wines are good and cheap. They are snobbish about seating and bookings even when empty.

Went there for birthdays. We booked a table for 9 persons for 7pm. We were told that by 915 pm table must be given back. The booking was confirmed by a credit card. At 5pm they called to confirm the reservation. On arrival at 7 our table was not ready until 725. The food n ambience were very good. By the time the orders were taken n both starter and main dishes were served n finished it was around 9pm. At about 910 we were given menus for dessert. One of the desserts was for the birthday so that came out first and everyone celebrated that was also v. Good. The other desserts followed soon after as did the coffees. As soon as all the desserts came out the waiter cane over with our bill n said we must pay n leave. Most of us did not even start eating our desserts. In fact I never drunk my tea and milk was never served. We complained n said if there was no time to have desserts then why take our orders just to bump up the bill? The manager was so very rude m in fact said if we were not happy we should not come back. We were astounded by his attitude our bill was £613 for 9 persons including service of £68. Whilst we were happy to pay for the while bill. The managers service left such a bitter taste we paid less the service. read more
