Mixed bag on this one. The location is convenient. Sites vary in size & quality. I wouldn't want to camp here without being able to select a preferred site. On a random draw, you may be eating over your neighbors sewer - meh. We did not use the restrooms/showers - i can't speak on those. I will say that it seems everyone you encounter is friendly- which is awesome. Overall, we'd opt to use a different location. read more

RVs you have it good at Medora. Tenting on the other hand, well left a little to be desired. Sitting acutely near the berm, we were surprised by the quantity of grasshoppers and the dearth of shade. For a campground that boasts lovely cottonwood trees, we were dismayed that the east side tent spots lacked consistent shading. We checked in on a Tuesday and leaving by Friday, so why not give us a prime shady location? Maybe Medora you could note that on your website- tent, no shade, near the berm, etc. I would have paid the extra implied cost to have a reliably shady tent space. Bathrooms were not at all like other reviews described. They were clean and well draining. And they were convenient for the tent campers. I loved that the river was accessible. We did lots of Little Muddy swimming and rock exploiting. So cool to be right next to TRNP. I will camp here again. In an RV, or note the shady request in my reservation request. read more

Pros: The staff was really helpful and nice. Laundry room was great! The rv park was really close to TRNP Visitor Center. Medora is a cute town with a nice city Cons: Most sites do not have shade. Perhaps you can request a site that is shaded with a cottonwood. Toilets weren't always clean and showers didn't drain well. They usually had standing water in them. read more

We stayed at Medora Campground for three nights as a second stop on a 10 day badlands trip! I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at this campground. Several reviews complained of the tight sites and poor condition of the campground. To the contrary, this campground has nice, although more primitive, sites! When I initially booked my reservation, I requested a spot in the newer part of the campground where I had read the sites were bigger and more modern. When I arrived, the campground was only about 1/2 full and I was given a choice to be in the older part of the campground in a shaded area. I'm glad I did! Our site, #709 was nestled between two huge trees that offered plenty of shade. Although the sites were not huge, we had plenty of space for our slideouts, awning and our portable dog pen without intruding on our neighbor's area. We had plenty of parking for our motorhome and toad. The newer area has zero shade, but the grass in between the sites is beginning to grow. The newer sites seemed no bigger than all the rest. Being early in the season, the campground never was more than 2/3 full even for Memorial Day, which was nice. There is a city operated pool within walking distance to the campground, but it was not open yet. The off-leash dog park is HUGE and allowed our 2 labs to burn off some energy. The staff were extremely helpful, albeit a bit new and were still figuring things out for the season. Camp store is big and offers a wide variety of stuff! The whole area seemed touristy and there were way too many people and cheesy shops. Theodore Roosevelt NP was sad too. Whole area seemed a bit bedraggled and unloved. The falling T on the sign gave you an indication of my feelings. read more

We had a great stay in the Conestoga wagon at the campground. The wagon is super cool! It's glamping at it's finest - it has power and even A/C. The bed was super comfortable and the staff was very friendly. Shared showers could have been cleaner, but that was my only complaint. Definitely recommend a stay here! read more

I agree that the sites are very tight, neighbors sewer dump was literally straight out our door about 5 feet from our camper. But the price was right, staff was friendly, nice bath/shower house, and we were only there for one night so it worked for us. read more

We really liked this campground, really close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park. This was a good place to recharge during our road trip, lots of amenities, they had plenty of showers with strong hot water and excellent WiFi to catch-up with our communication. read more

Don't waist your time here! One of the worst camp sites we've ever seen. They basically cram everyone in on a dirt lot with everyone about an arm's length away. No shade. Dirt, dust, heat and flies! People walking through your site! Restrooms filthy and staff very rude. It's very apparent that they know they are close to downtown and taking advantage of that. Money and profit is obviously more important than the camper experience. We pulled in and pulled out in 5 mins. Drove down the road 30 mins and found a great RV park! read more

Camp spots were tight but good locations. We had family and friends with us in a separate camper. Sites are tight and not much space between for kids to play. Near a river bank to go swimming and cool off. All staff were very friendly and willing to help. All but one which happens to be the lady manager. She was rude when approaching us on an issue. She confronted one of our elderly friends and was not in the least bit Professional and did not handle the issue well. They also double charged me for an extra 4 night stay and the manager gave me some run-around reason as to why and they would make sure refund me at check out. I'd like to recommend the campground but only rating it average due to the low amount of professionalism by the manager. read more

Would not camp there again unless i would be able to pick sites 154-170 all other pull through sides have no grass and become a mud hole when it rains and a dustbowl when dry - you can forget about getting level; we were assigned site 125 in which we were unable to get our MH level - also the staff was not very accommodating when we asked to be moved. Enjoyable well maintained campground. "walking distance" (if u aren't lazy like us) to the town of Medora. Nice, well maintained sites, all gravel. Several bathhouses scattered throughout (average). Well stocked camp store. Great views of surrounding scenery. Sites were very tight. Met several folks also staying there all from ND and so friendly! Campsites vary in size. Ours was campsite 5. Extremely small! Tent barely fit our site! Site 6 was at least double in size. We asked for a new site and were denied. At least they had running water and no fire pit. read more

Appreciate the friendly young man who helped get me a spot to set up a tent. Unfortunately, this campground is not for me. The adjoining sites are just a few feet from each other. I am listening to two conversations very easily on both sides of the tent. And a tent site inside the park is $14 whereas this place charges $24/nt which I would say is $5-8 more than it should be for how compact the site is. Great spot to stay in Medora and a relatively easy walk or bike ride into the town. Sites are close and reason for four stars. Otherwise it served the purpose and was clean and had friendly staff. Parking our large fifth wheel in a back-in spot was a breeze and many have satellite reception. It was very hot while we were there and the city pool is very nice with an easy walk and only $4 PP per day. read more

This place is a dump. It is one of the worst campgrounds I have been to in 50 years of camping. The road and sites are a dust bowl, and the sites are so close together that there was barely enough room for our 20 ft travel trailer and car. We should have gone to the state park down the road. read more

Excellent WiFi, quiet, easy to navigate park. Check on was quick. Rate is fair for full hookups and proximity to the Badlands.

Checked in to a 50 amp full hookup site. Picnic table is literally on top of neighbors sewer hose. Our sewer connection was under four inches of water so couldn't use for two days.The sites are so tiny and tight we couldn't do anything outside and putting out an awning or something else is a pipe dream. My wife who is height challenged at 5'4 could touch our trailer and our neighbors easily. And that is on our "leisure side". Advised the staff of us initially not being able to find sewer, and they just said "I know it's there". Well I found it, but elected not to flood their septic, sewer with the four inches of rainwater that would have drained into it had I opened it. WE had to use 4 inch of levelers on one side just to approach level. Our back end was sticking at least a foot into the road and we had no room to park except at a katty wampus angle in front. Our AC and only half the outlets didn't work for the first 2.5 days. i thought it was our trailer, so I replaced outlets, GFCIs, etc. trying to fix the problem, then I plugged into the 30 amp service and wala! everything worked. I went to the office and advised them of the issue, and said we weren't even getting 20 amps with the 50 amp service. Well the agent who was super friendly and joking earlier suddenly became a little belligerent and not at all helpful. She did call a repair man to come and take a look. I said since we were paying for 50 amp service and didn't receive it for two days, I felt we should be refunded the difference between a 50 amp site and 30 amp site. (It turns out the repairman said we were only getting half the pole so maybe 20 amps.) I explained I had already replaced GFCIs and outlets at my expense for a non existent problem now and as a consumer you expect to receive what you are paying for. She refuse to consider a refund stating "we didn't know about the problem!" Like I did????? Mind you the difference is $7 a day, so we are talking about $14 refund for a six night stay! And she refused to consider it? Because they didn't know their service was broken? Really? I didn't even mention the fact we couldn't use the sewer for the first two days due to the water, or the fact we were confined to the interior of our camper because we were in the neighbor's lap. This is the money grab. They cram people in too tight of spaces and then get persnickety over a request for $14 refund? After charging $47 a night! They're more than happy to sell you tickets to the surrounding events with an additional fee tacked on. They seemingly don't care and why should they as they have a monopoly on sites in the area. You want to camp there and enjoy TRNP, then this is pretty much your only option! On a positive note, they are close to the park and the park is beautiful. Would i stay there again? Not on your life and I couldn't recommend it to anyone. Next time I'll stay up near the north unit or in Dickinson some 30 miles away and commute to the park. I don't normally leave reviews, but this had to be the worst camping experience we've had in 35 years of camping in campgrounds in everything from tents to travel trailers to fifth wheels. Medora campground fails to deliver what is promised or what you're paying for. They mislead as to their site availability and suitability. Walking distance to downtown and Little Missouri River. Staff member, "Jeanette" was very friendly and suggested local activities. Campground has 30Amp and 50Amp hookups, sewer, as well as Free WiFi and water. We felt fortunate to have this last minute reservation. Although the grounds are not pristine, they well serve as more than sufficient. Kids will enjoy the small park and pool (in peak season only). We came in late August and the pool had water, but it was closed (91 degrees today). Some people posted it was dusty. Indeed, there is a drought here so the soil is dry. Sites are pretty close to one another, but some shade is available on both camper and tent sites. read more
