For a campground that boasts lovely cottonwood trees, we were dismayed that the east side tent spots lacked consistent shading. We checked in on a Tuesday and leaving by Friday, so why not give us a prime shady location? Maybe Medora you could note that on your website- tent, no shade, near the berm, etc. I would have paid the extra implied cost to have a reliably shady tent space. Bathrooms were not at all like other reviews described. They were clean and well draining. And they were convenient for the tent campers. I loved that the river was accessible. We did lots of Little Muddy swimming and rock exploiting. So cool to be right next to TRNP. I will camp here again. In an RV, or note the shady request in my reservation request.

We have a 20ft travel trailer and appreciate the pull through sites so we can stay "hooked up". We can easily walk on a quiet local street to Walmart. The site has maintained grass and a sturdy picnic table. The secured bathhouse and laundry suites are very clean and well maintained. The internet performs well and is included in the nightly rate which is reasonable. We have observed that the tent sites are great- level, grassy and partially shaded. For tenters there are nearby places to take safe shelter for severe weather alerts. We really appreciate the owner's commitment to maintain and upgrade the facilities. The new roadway surfaces are great! The staff have always been extremely helpful and pleasant. Keep up the great work North Park, we appreciate you!!

(We had left a message each time we called.) by this time we had no choice, in the dark, in the cold, in the rain, to drive BACK an hour to the closest rv park. Finally after OVER 45 minutes since we had FIRST called, the owner called us back and said someone had parked in our spot but we could have taken "any other spot"... any other spot? You mean the ONE spot that appeared to be open but how were we to know someone else wasn't going to show up and find us in their spot?? Great way to NOT run a business, not to mention the danger of us driving down dark backroads for an hour in the rain to get back to the nearest well lit, well maintained, well run rv park. Funny because even though we had called that rv park after hours in our haste to find a place to stay for the night, someone answered right away and went through their reservations to find us an open spot and arrange for us to have a place. in a nutshell, Abidon was a joke. Staff very personable and friendly , fire pit out back a nice place to connect with fellow travellers to share stories of the day. The Ranch it about 6 miles out of town, about a mile of which is on a dirt road Being remote as it is lends to the serenity, view of the Badlands and night stargazing! Oh and the sunrises from our room ... breathtaking! (See pic) If ever back in the area will definitely be making a return trip to "the Ranch"!!! In the area?? Make sure to take in the Medora Musical!!!

I had no idea what the rate was supposed to be, but my mom had received verbal confirmation that it was a flat fee of $99 per night for the wedding, totaling about $198 + tax. What they don't tell you is that they charge per person in the room -- which is absolutely ridiculous, especially since the room sleeps six! When I brought this up, I was told, "No, that's right. We charge per head." I replied, "The room sleeps six. It should just be a flat rate across the board." The employee insisted that "all the rooms here and in Medora do it that way." I told her that was nonsense -- because no hotel or Airbnb charges hidden per-person fees like that -- and she got upset that I said "horseshit." Apparently, that was enough for her to tell me to leave and nearly take my receipt. This charge will be disputed, because you can't advertise a flat event rate and then secretly tack on extra "per head" charges after the fact. The food itself was decent, but even that experience wasn't great -- I was snapped at during the wedding dinner because my tray wasn't on the "bottom" of the conveyor when going through the line. There's no reason to yell at paying guests over something that small. As for the room, we were located near the campers. That wasn't the problem -- but waiting 30 minutes for hot water to reach the shower definitely was. The sink got hot instantly, so that made zero sense. Then we found a live worm in the bed my mom was sleeping in, and the door didn't seal properly, which probably explains the centipede we found inside too. Overall, the food was the only halfway decent part of the stay -- but between the surprise "per head" charges, rude staff, and bugs in the room, I would absolutely not recommend staying here.

But it is a great motel - in the old fashioned way- homey, extremely clean, large rooms, friendly staff, pet friendly and very quiet. Most of the people staying there are working in town which may account for how quiet it is- but whatever the reason, we found it to be a great place to stay. I should probably add that with the oil/gas boom going on, there is no such thing as a cheap motel room (and you're lucky if there's a motel with room at all) in Dickinson The prices have gone up at the Oasis ($113 +\-) since Rachel reviewed it in 2009, but happily it has gotten much quieter as well, and it really was a very nice place to stay.

The room we stayed in (#502) was nicely appointed, seemed recently remodeled. Bathroom was nice, although the shower had a rain shower head which seemed like it had very low water pressure (but that might be normal for a rain shower head - which I dislike). It also overlooked the roof area which had multiple HVAC systems, which you could hear running through the windows. Had breakfast at the attached restaurant and the food was nice as well. Enjoyed the stay, other than the lower water pressure. The HVAC system noise wasn't really bothersome.

Checking out was quick & easy.. The hotel is in Medora North Dakota in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Theodore is the restaurant on premises. The hotel & our room have a rustic charm. In the lobby is an immense hearth reaching to the tin-tiled ceiling, with walls housing a large, private & accessible library of books on, and by, Theodore. We were able to walk around the shops & restaurants in Medora & we were in the park in minutes. We were told animals run wild here. There was a 12 car parking lot & we never got a spot so we parked around the corner on the street. Sarah and the volunteers from Thailand were helpful and friendly. I was surprised that there wasn't housekeeping services, I went down to the desk for clean towels, a laundry bag & took out our garbage. Went down again, for tissues & toilet paper. There was no breakfast served here. There were soda and candy vending machines. I was surprised that there was carpeting in our room and all over the hotel. I was a little grossed out coming inside with my muddy dirty shoes. At home, I would've left them at the door; here I just don't want to touch the carpeting. The fitness room is not a priority, the elliptical worked poorly.
