Stayed here on 5/20/23 during the slower season (before summer season kicks in). Lobby area is very…read morenice, with a seating area for reading, as they have hundreds of books relating to Theodore Roosevelt. The room we stayed in (#502) was nicely appointed, seemed recently remodeled. Bathroom was nice, although the shower had a rain shower head which seemed like it had very low water pressure (but that might be normal for a rain shower head - which I dislike). It also overlooked the roof area which had multiple HVAC systems, which you could hear running through the windows. Had breakfast at the attached restaurant and the food was nice as well. Enjoyed the stay, other than the lower water pressure. The HVAC system noise wasn't really bothersome.

We checked into room 307 for 2 nights. Our room had a king bed, walk in shower refrigerator &…read moretelevision. Our room came with a book about the park and a Teddy bear that resembles Roosevelt. Checking out was quick & easy.. The hotel is in Medora North Dakota in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. Theodore is the restaurant on premises. The hotel & our room have a rustic charm. In the lobby is an immense hearth reaching to the tin-tiled ceiling, with walls housing a large, private & accessible library of books on, and by, Theodore. We were able to walk around the shops & restaurants in Medora & we were in the park in minutes. We were told animals run wild here. There was a 12 car parking lot & we never got a spot so we parked around the corner on the street. Sarah and the volunteers from Thailand were helpful and friendly. I was surprised that there wasn't housekeeping services, I went down to the desk for clean towels, a laundry bag & took out our garbage. Went down again, for tissues & toilet paper. There was no breakfast served here. There were soda and candy vending machines. I was surprised that there was carpeting in our room and all over the hotel. I was a little grossed out coming inside with my muddy dirty shoes. At home, I would've left them at the door; here I just don't want to touch the carpeting. The fitness room is not a priority, the elliptical worked poorly.

A cool nights rest on our journey through North Dakota…read more There's not a lot of staff, so no one was at the front desk to check us in. Instead, we had a phone number to call and have someone stop by the front desk to get us checked in. The room is nice. There's even a little "kitchen" area. I liked the knight accents, but felt like it needed a little more. My favorite part was the gymnasium, where you could throw some basketballs around. If you are looking for food, go down the street. They shouldn't even be serving food with the quality I received. I ordered the fish basket, and I'm not sure if it was the breading or the fish, but it tasted completely of mold and I couldn't eat it. My sister had the prime rib, which was completely raw on the inside, and a lot of it was fat. Her corn was hard and cold and just gross. I don't know why we had any hope for the dessert, but we ordered the raspberry cheesecake, and it was disgusting. First, it wasn't even cold, and second, it was hard. Do not eat here. And the service is so slow. I get it, it's a small town, but two hours for a meal is way too long. All in all, the room was nice, but save your money and eat at the other restaurant down the road.

Some of the critics are perhaps comparing it to a big hotel chains. It reminds me of people going to other countries and complaining that they don't get the same service they are used to in the U.S. I think the idea was genius and admire the ambition and perseverance of making it happen and creating such a unique hotel. I love it!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel with our little girl dog (one dog, up to 50 lbs, is allowed to stay per room and cost $75 per stay) for two nights. Our room had a kitchenette, which includes 2 stove burners, one full size fridge with freezer, dishwasher, microwave and of course a kitchen sink. We did utilize the stove and cooked most of our meals (please note that there is free breakfast provided at this hotel). There are pots and pans made available. There was only a set of 3 plates, bowls and glass cups and mugs. Inside the shower, there is shower gel, shampoo and conditioner on the wall, which I always appreciate. This hotel also has an indoor pool and gym on site. Checking into the hotel was fine. The employee who helped us friend friendly. And the same goes for when we checked out. We visited Mount Rushmore and also Theodore Roosevelt National Park while we stayed at this hotel. Overall, this was a nice hotel and would stay here again if visiting this area.

I've had larger one bedroom suites. The rooms don't have extra blankets, I went to the front desk asking for some, and was told staff would bring them to our room, they never did. Poor and uninviting service is enough to not make me come again.
