Sign indicating the "LabCorps System is down"
    Tara D.

The staff are rude and unprepared. The check-in system is "down" and the employee said they keep a "system down" sign up because if they allow more than 6 registrations the system crashes. When I arrived on time for my appointment, I waited in my car until they sent a text message to come in for my appointment. Upon arriving, there was absolute chaos with people stacked together waiting for their appointment along with walk-in patients. One man said this was his second time attempting to have his labs done because his doctor is upstairs and he walked out in frustration. The staff were behind a locked door with no one there to provide instructions. So far, I have waited for 30 minutes AFTER being summonsed to come in for my appointment. They are disorganized and rude. Others waiting said "it's always like this." More stafff should be hired and the manager should be removed from their position--this is unacceptable.

My wife believed she was having an issue with her pancreas as she had a case of acute pancreatitis more than year or so ago. The initial check-in was rather quick; however, my wife was not triaged until 6:05 PM. My wife still had a high fever with abdominal pains. Part of their triage includes a FaceTime with a hospitalist! That was a new one for us. At approximately 6:20 PM they took my wife back for a blood test and an EKG. After that was done, she was informed that she would have a CT. My wife was not taken back into the ER until 11:30 PM! It was a long time sitting in the waiting room, waiting for anything to happen. The nurse that we had was terrific she was very empathetic and thoughtful! Sometime after midnight, they came to take my wife for the CT. We spoke with a hospitalist, she seemed to be very thoughtful and knowledgeable as well. After the CT and additional bloodwork was completed, the hospitalist spoke with us, noting that her fever had passed, and the CT revealed no issues with her pancreas. Bloodwork overall was good so they gave her a clean bill of health for checkout. We left the hospital sometime around 3 AM. I would say, once you get in to see the doctor everything isn't as bad as some of the reviews here in. It's just the wait to get in! The room we were in, #18, was clean and well kept. My wife had to use the bathroom a few times and it was clean as well. Just wish that we would've gotten in the back quicker. That said, our nurse remarked how incredibly busy they had been for the last two days for whatever reason. Unfortunately, my wife's health has necessitated multiple hospital visits over the last 15 years. Some hospitals in California and Ohio, and now Maryland. With that, we think we have experienced the spectrum.

The doctors and nurses were patient and explained everything to my family and were happy to answer any of our questions. However, my one complaint is the seating or lack thereof in the patient rooms. I have sat here for hours in an uncomfortable little black chair. It would be very helpful if the accommodations for loved ones were more comfortable. The first day we arrived in the ICU, there was a nice seat in the room. By the time I left for dinner and came back, that seat was removed with no real explanation given. All the sat in it's place was a little black chair. After spending over five hours sitting with my loved one in the little black chair and praying good thoughts for recovery; I now have to go home and take Motrin and schedule an appointment with my chiropractor. Please think about the guest and family member's of loved ones who are visiting or sitting vigil. I now bring my own pillows so that I can sit comfortably in the in the little chair.

My daughter was so sick and weak when she FaceTimed me that I had call someone to piCK her up because she drove herself to her appointment. Once I attempted to call someone in his office to assist her it was 5pm , closed for the day . my daughter had to leave Camp Springs to go to Kensington because they was a appt available for her pelvic exam that day . In route there my daughter vomiting continued , upon arrival my daughter's vomiting continues . Instead of going to radiology she went to urgent care ! She was treated until they were closing at 11 pm , the transported to Gaithersburg for observation & treatment until The next day ! Diagnosed with food poisoning and severe dehydration. They failed terribly in patient care ! Not to mention Camp Springs has an urgent care literally 50 ft. From the internal medicine dept that she should have been transferred to before he clocked out ! I also don't understand why in her condition and age , he didn't he care enough to ask did she drive herself there before discharging a patient experiencing chest pains and abdominal pain. I Am very pleased with the care she received at Kensington and Gaithersburg.

I completely understand that she may be limited in what she is able to do regarding billing or previous payment issues. That is not the problem. The problem is the way she chose to speak to and treat someone who came in while in significant pain. There had been confusion and miscommunication from prior visits regarding payment. I was not blaming Cynthia personally. I was kind and patient during the entire interaction with her. I simply needed help understanding and resolving the situation. Instead of showing even a basic level of patience or compassion, she was cold, dismissive, and unnecessarily unkind. People working in healthcare are often dealing with patients who are scared, hurting, or already overwhelmed. Kindness should not be optional. Cynthia is representing this establishment, and Patient First should be aware of how patients are being treated at the front desk. I chose this location because I needed medical care. I did not expect to be treated like an inconvenience before I was even seen. None of my friends or family will be going to this Patient First or another ever again.
