Aero, Dachshund mix post surgery at MedVet

Thank you to the incredible staff at MedVet for their wonderful care of my Dachshund mix Aero! She needed emergency surgery on her intestines and received life saving care at this facility. Every single person my spouse and I interacted with (the front of house staff, nurses, veterinarians, etc.) over the course of three days were amazing. It's been a rough couple of days for our sweet girl but now she is on the road to recovery. I cannot say enough positive things about MedVet for finding out what was wrong and saving her life. It was expensive, but very worth it. Highly recommend this emergency vet. They truly care about animals and have empathy for the people who come in during an emergency. Excellent communication throughout the process and I always felt like my dog was in good hands.

Took my dog Eddie into MedVet because he was suffering from cancer, I was unaware of what was actually going on with him. They explained everything in detail and they were so kind to me. They let me say my goodbyes and took good care of Eddie.

Does anyone know of a low cost clinic that can see my baby a soon as possible? She has been having trouble pooping for a couple of weeks and it just getting worse, can anyone help me

Medvet is a great option. If they're too pricey for you at the minute, Dr. Patricia Stevens in LA Center is very affordable and often sees same day.

We wound up moving our other animals over because the care and love they show all the animals is beyond evident. When it came time to say goodbye to our GSD due to an aggressive liver cancer, Heather communicated with me via text on a Friday afternoon to get Loki seen at an urgent care since they were booked. She then continued to touch base throughout the day as we got appointments set, records forwarded to the other clinic and then fit us in with a last minute Saturday appointment so he could cross the rainbow bridge and shed his pain. The texts were beyond appreciated as I could barely speak without bawling. Dr Primley was also compassionate and comforting as we said goodbye to our gentle giant Saturday afternoon and I cannot thank them enough for the kindness and care they showed us during that difficult time. I highly recommend them to anyone needing care for their fur babies.

A Rollercoaster Experience at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital: Good to BAD to LOL…read more Strap in, folks, because this ride at Hearthwood Veterinary Hospital is all about highs and lows, with a heavy dose of mystery. My debut was good Dr. Dena Baumgartner, (picture shown on their website below), savvy vet tech (picture not shown), and the vibe that my furball and my wallet were in good hands. But hold onto your hats, because round two veers into the twilight zone. The plot thickens with their photo policy - so cloaked in mystery it could star in its own detective novel. I wanted to document my pet's first happy vet visit. If Hearthwood was a book, it'd be titled 'Why We Hide.' Auditing seems overdue, doesn't it? Then there's the 'VIP (Very Isolated Pets)' treatment - pets and owners parting ways for procedures, waving more red flags than a matador. Me and my sidekick? We don't play that game. We took our paws elsewhere after a peek behind the curtain revealed too many unanswered questions. They wanted to separate me from my pet for a simple booster shot. I thought that was odd since we were already in a private room and they were holding the shot in their hand. Wouldn't you think that was odd? Don't even get me started on time - or the lack thereof. This tech (see picture below) is 45 minutes late for the appointment. As you can see, she is less 'fashionably late.' It's not just about the wait; it's the principle. Most people count that as a "no show" at 20 minutes? Where do you draw the line? 15, 30 min? If it was the other way around they would easily charge me a "no show" fee. They also charged me wellness exam fee of some $60 which I did not authorize nor was I advised that a exam was being conducted. Bottom line: If you're shopping for a vet where secrets don't shadow simple check-ups and respect for your time is a given, let my story be your compass. It's time to vote with our feet, because the path to change is paved with our choices. In America, we vote with our dollar. And people like this business need to respect that. I hope people who read this review note that I was not offered an apology or a refund. Transparency, accountability, and punctuality aren't just nice-to-haves; they're must-haves. Here's to finding a place that checks all those boxes. If you want to see more authentic looks at our local businesses, click my profile to read more. Have a beautiful day. This is not meant to discredit the clinic as a whole, but to be transparent about an interaction that had a significant emotional impact on us and may be important for others to be aware of. Our family recently brought our cat to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists during one of the most painful moments a pet owner can experience--having to say goodbye. I want to be very clear that the majority of the staff we interacted with were kind, patient, and compassionate. The woman at the front desk treated us with warmth and respect, the staff member we spoke with on the phone beforehand was helpful and understanding, and the veterinarian who ultimately assisted with end-of-life care was gentle, loving, and respectful. He took the time to explain everything clearly and treated both our pet and our family with dignity. Those are exactly the kinds of people you want working in a field that involves end-of-life care and emotional vulnerability. Unfortunately, our initial interaction with one staff member significantly overshadowed the experience. When our family first arrived, the individual who took our cat back (not the person who checked us in) made comments that strongly implied judgment about why our pet had not been brought in sooner. These remarks were delivered in a way that felt accusatory and lacked empathy, especially given that our pet was actively dying and we were already emotionally overwhelmed. Financial limitations are a reality for many families. Being made to feel guilt or shame for not having immediate access to thousands of dollars--at the exact moment we were facing the loss of a beloved pet--was deeply inappropriate and unprofessional. Veterinary professionals are entrusted with not only animal care, but human compassion. This was not the time for assumptions, judgment, or commentary--it was a moment that required empathy, discretion, and support. I'm sharing this because no family should be made to feel judged or shamed while saying goodbye to a pet. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed internally, because the rest of the staff we encountered demonstrated the level of care and compassion that should be standard in situations like this. Our pet deserved peace and dignity in their final moments--and so did our family.

Especially since you offer $250 vet checks when they're adopted from HSSW Animal Shelter. These dogs are traumatized from being there and then their new home, especially German Shepherds. My 20 month old little girl, had been through a lot and I was working diligently to get her acclimated and trained. I even had one-on-one training sessions with a professional trainer. The visit to this clinic was a nightmare from the start, I asked for a side entrance because of her high prey drive and distain of other dogs, I was told they didn't have one. Instead I was escorted into the lobby, then a very tiny exam room, it was just horrible, as we were seated the vet enters and she is standing just a couple feet from us, my dogs body language was escalating, then she tried to approach, clearly not reading my dogs warning, my dog growled and was lunging toward her. She decided to get someone to assist her, I asked if she wanted me to muzzle her and she agreed. Upon her return w/o assistant, my girl was very nervous and anxious. The vet said I should wait in the lobby and she'd take her as she might do better without my presence, which I agreed. But then she reached over the dogs head for the leash, as I tried to get up, Suki muzzle punched her in the hip, everything thus far had been done wrong. From lobby to tiny room, us seated, vet standing, it was a nightmare. After just a few minutes an assistant approached and said, they would have to sedate her to treat her ear infection $400 And asked why? Shed just had them cleaned and treated for yeast at the shelter before I'd officially adopted her, and without incident, other than nonstop barking through the exam and treatment. But they insisted she needed to be fully under. After I picked her up the next day, I was given horrible advice from this unqualified to treat GSD's as she absolutely nothing about the breed. She told me to get a harness to restrain her. Anyone who knows the breed knows that a harness only allows them to pull more. She also told me that she needs to be on meds and to see a behavioralist so they could diagnose her and she could then write the prescription. I am on a fixed income and do not have that kind of money. Then she told me that if I didn't get her on meds, she could attack someone and likely turn on me, maybe not now but within 2 years. I was extremely distraught and upset when I left. First of all I know my dog, she doesn't! Besides the fact that I TOLD them of her issues before I made the appt. But no one listened to me and no concessions were made at all for her visit. It is my recommendation that your clinic listens to the client. And put a fear aggressive dog with a skilled Veterinarian that is familiar with the breed and their behaviors. She absolutely was not! Bottomline: -LISTEN to the dogs owner -Match dog to the Vet most qualified to handle. -Don't offer up information about a dog that you know nothing about. Especially when you created the entire ordeal in the first place. I'm sorry for the bad review but the advice I was given was completely wrong and had she known the behaviors of the breed she wouldn't have suggested the things she did! It was careless and irresponsible. My dog used to want to eat my cat, but with 4 months of hard work, gentle introductions my study of the breed, here we are today! I have had my girl now 5 months and she is a wonderful dog.

My animal passed not because of anything the vet ever did and I would never imply that. The conversation we had on the day was a quick line about being frustrated that they weren't open and then to the conversation about the animal I was there with. I'm very sorry if she felt like I was trying to blame her. Additionally, I was assuming the event they had to close for was a last minute thing because I did not think a professional setting would have planned to be closed that day and not have any sort of notification. This review was specifically about my experience of the location. Personally, I would caution people from going to a business where the business manager spend his Sunday night looking up information on past patients (which I'm assuming happened because he was able to state a specific date) just to combat a bad review. TLDR: This used to be a wonderful place under Dr. Burton, but the new owners have ruined the good reputation and good will. Staff have been known to argue with people on their reviews so I'm sure a response defending themselves will be left on this one This was the best place when Dr. Burton ran it. Unfortunately, since it has been sold the experience has plummeted. Most of the staff was let go (though the new staff and owners will say they left voluntarily) and the consideration and willingness to work with patients has disappeared. What was previously a run in back with Dr. Burton for some blood tests and ended up being over $500 with no warning with the new owners. When I expressed confusion and concern that I had a massive bill that I had not been told about before the blood draw I was treated like I didn't know what I was talking about and quite literally had the card reader pushed towards me. When I asked if I could do a payment plan as I've done in the past with Dr. Burton as I had bills coming up and was not planning on spending over $500 I was told that that was no longer something that was offered and that I needed to pay right then and there. This on top of the fact that when the new owners took over there were days where the office was closed but there was no information about that put online nor was the voicemail updated. So anyone showing up for appointments that day were met with a paper on the front door saying they were closed and when I asked about it at a later time I was told the vet's son was moving into college and that it couldn't be helped. Again I was treated as if my questioning of why there had been no notice online was ridiculous and rude. If you are thinking of coming here because you've heard good things, I would highly recommend looking into some other locations. The high rating for this animal hospital is all thanks to Dr. Burton, and unfortunately he is no longer there
