I rarely leave negative reviews, but our experience at Animal Care Clinic was frustrating from beginning to end. We brought our senior cat, Huck, in because we had been battling fleas and ear mites for approximately three months. By the time of our appointment, we had finally gotten the flea problem under control, but the ear mites remained our primary concern. During the initial visit, we were told Huck needed a comprehensive senior exam, which cost approximately $600. We gladly paid because we wanted to make sure he received the care he needed. We were also informed that he required extensive dental work, estimated between $1,700 and $2,700. Fortunately, the final cost was on the lower end of that estimate, around $1,700. At the first appointment, we were assured that the medication prescribed would address both the flea and ear mite issues. Unfortunately, months later, we are still dealing with the ear problem. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Communication throughout this process was consistently poor. Before appointments, no one provided helpful instructions such as whether we should avoid cleaning Huck's ears beforehand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]For his dental procedure, we were told only that drop-off would be between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. No one mentioned paperwork. When my boyfriend arrived, he was immediately handed paperwork and told it would take about 20 minutes to complete. Naturally, this caused unnecessary stress because he wasn't expecting it. In reality, it was only one page and took just a few minutes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] At Huck's dental follow-up appointment, we arrived early by mistake, then returned shortly after our scheduled time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While waiting, one of the receptionists assisted us while actively eating and speaking with food in her mouth. This was not the first time we had experienced this behavior from staff and it came across as unprofessional.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Although our appointment was scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Huck was not taken back until nearly 10:50. We requested to speak directly with the doctor because we still had concerns about his ears. After examining him, the doctor stated that his ears appeared darker than normal but was unsure whether the issue was ear mites, yeast, or something else. We were then told that microscopic testing could be performed--but it would cost an additional $103. At that point, I was extremely frustrated. We had already spent well over $2,000 between exams, treatment, and dental care, and the original issue that brought us in still had not been resolved. Being asked to spend even more money simply to determine what was going on felt unreasonable given the circumstances. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While we were waiting, another customer was attempting to pick up medication for his pet after receiving a text notification. Staff appeared unable to locate the medication and repeatedly searched different locations while asking the customer the same questions. It reinforced the impression that the clinic was disorganized and lacking clear communication.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My biggest concern is not the cost. Veterinary care is expensive, and I understand that. My concern is that we spent over $2,000, received repeated assurances that the treatment would address the problem, and yet the original issue remains unresolved. Then we finally signed up for another cleaning and after doing blood work she said his liver was damaged and he'd need to be put on meds. This shocked us because he never showed signs of this so we got a second opinion. The other vet told us to wait a month to redo labs, and his liver enzymes returned to normal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Unfortunately I haven't had a good experience at this vet with Dr. Ross and will not be returning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ended up taking my cat here after I noticed signs of him having an upper respiratory infection. I am not from the area my husband travels for work so we are here temporarily. My cat has a PCP with all of his history/up to date information, but being in a new area we knew he needed to get treated quickly. When I called I gave them his PCP's information so they could see all of his history. The first appointment I realized she hadn't gone through any of his history as she kept making comments about my cat being deflated and having rapid muscle loss. I adopted my cat nearly a decade ago at the weight of 22lbs and successfully got him down to 10lbs. He has loose skin from this weight loss but he's been a healthy weight for over 7 years. This isn't the biggest deal honestly but it just let me know she didn't read his history when they had access to it. That appointment they did blood work, a urinalysis and an exam. He was sent home with an antibiotic and saline nasal drip. My cat has IBD so antibiotics can really mess up his tummy. I requested probiotics and within 2 weeks of starting the medication he was having some digestive issues. That's no fault of the doctor but when he was straining at the box / still not feeling well I decided to bring him back in. The second appointment started with her saying that he is deflated and having rapid muscle loss? And an order for blood work and urinalysis. I said we just did blood work/ urinalysis and he used to be over weight...she didn't even realize it was the same cat she saw just a weeks ago. I know they see tons of animals but all of that could be avoided by checking his history/chart. I left the appointment with no answers and over $800 and my cat is still sick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called 4 days ago and explained that I didn't feel very good after the last appointment and my cat is still very sick even with the completed dose of antibiotics. They said they would let the doctor know and call me back. No one ever did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called again was told I would get a call yesterday and I never did.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I ended up taking him to urgent care as I didn't want to wait around for a phone call that ended up never happening - at this point he's been sick since the end of September[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He received great care and has improved so much. I ended being informed the first antibiotic he was put on from this clinic didn't seem appropriate for his infection. It didn't treat a broad amount of bacteria. He's on something much more effective now. I would give the place a 1star but I had a good experience with Shane and the other vet techs. The reason I won't be returning here is because of the front desk staff. While I initially thought they were kind (and always were to my face) they failed to hang up the phone correctly after I had called them and I was able to hear what they thought of me, my concern over my dog (they laughed and said I was ridiculous) and that I had the nerve to ask if I could come in last minute (I do understand they "have a life" but I was just asking about my options). I realize they deal with all kinds of us pet owners, and need to vent, but perhaps maybe don't do it at the front desk in the open lobby and make sure you disconnect your call first before you start belittling and making fun of your clients. In the big picture, what they did/said isn't a major problem and we all need to vent but I certainly cannot go back there knowing what they think about me and how they made fun of my genuine concern about my dog (who isn't walking on the leg, it's swollen and she is in pain). I gather this is normal for them because after making light of my issue, they spoke poorly about another client who was concerned about what to feed their dog. The vet, wearing a full face mask (which seemed odd), was more focused on her diet than the actual issue I came in for. Suggested we take him to the ER in Tigard, Oregon to get an Ultrasound. Drove down to Tigard and paid $900 to do the ultrasound just to be told that nothing was in our kittens Stomach. As a professional Veterinarian Rachel should've been able to make a better judgement or diagnosis of our pet or anybody else's pets. It's a big mistake she made that cost us $900. Over the summer a stray cat started hanging out in my yard. After trying several ways to find her owner without success and was fearful of taking her the the Humane Society, (do they still put animals down if they aren't adopted in a certain time frame?) I worried that she might become pregnant. I contacted a local adoption site (Second Chance Companions) about getting her spayed. I explained that the cat was a stray, that she hadn't been checked for a chip and she may very well be spayed already. After mailing in the fee of $45, about 2 weeks later I received a call about the spay appointment which would be done at Animal Care Clinic. I dropped off kitty the morning of the appointment (this past Tuesday) and told them she was a stray, hasn't been scanned, and she may be fixed already. Several hours later, I received a call from the clinic wanting to know if kitty had shown signs of being in heat. "Why are you asking me this?" They had her cut open and could not find her uterus. I asked if they had scanned her. They hadn't. My heart started breaking picturing kitty splayed open and they are trying to find something inside her that had already been removed. When I returned to pick her up in the afternoon they had finally scanned her. She IS chipped, had been adopted from the SW WA Humane Society, was already spayed and had an irresponsible owner who won't respond to messages about her cat (too busy taking selfies, by the looks of her social media accounts). This kitty could have her story on an ASPCA commercial! Heck, I can't even get the Humane Society to call me back about this kitty. There is no reason the cat should have been cut open. The very first thing a vet clinic would do for a stray, imo, is to check for a chip. I'm heartsick for this little kitty. She's suffered greatly at the hands of those who charged for her care. I don't even care about the money. They could have kept it, credited it toward future care, or put it in a slush-fund for other strays needing care. As it seems the pet owner has no interest in this sweet cat, I am going to let kitty adopt me and there is no way I will return to this clinic for future care. They gave me no collar to keep her from licking the wound and I paid another $20 for a pain medication injection. What happened is not acceptable, at all. Some might even call it malpractice, at the very least, negligence, though I feel the former is more accurate. Maybe they are more careful with "pets" than they are with "strays". This little stray is now a pet. My pet. We won't be back. read more

In 10+ years of living in Vancouver this is the best vet I have found with the bonus of reasonable prices and vets willing to work with you and find the best options for your budget. I used to go to Companion Per Clinic, however, they misdiagnosed my dog and my cat. Enter Animal Care Clinic. Not only are their prices comparable to other vets but they accurately diagnosed my dog and my cat when others said she needed double knee surgery and my cat just "breathed weird." Dr. Brandon knew immediately that my cat actually had asthma and that my dog simply had osteoarthritis in her knees from injuring them as a puppy while running. Her knees were not damaged as companion tried to say. They will even write a paper prescription that can be filled at most any pharmacy for cheaper costs and/or will fill prescriptions at their cost if available. I especially like that their vaccinations are good for longer than others too so I'm not having to renew my legs vaccines every single year. I will continue to go here until my pets are no longer around. read more

I had to come here a few months ago to get my cat tested for Feline Leukemia and was getting a free treatment (only reason I came here). So I brought her in and the first visit was fine, get a call a few days later saying they lost the test so I have to drive back (it's about 50 minutes away) and they do the test again. Then as they're bringing my cat back out to my car, they say nothing and just put her in. No updates, no when I should expect to hear something, no how my cat did? Oh, we did not know the price went up! We were also interested in testing the tumors that's on the dog. Told by the vet it costs about $20. Dr. Brandon and the front desk are very nice. My dog who is 1 years old needed knee surgery because his knee cap would not stay in place. I called around town and prices where outrages. Dr Brandon charged half of what every one else was charging and he did not charge for pre or post surgery appointment. I was so happy to know that I did not have to sacrifice giving up my animal just because I could not pay 3000 dollars which is what the other veterinarians around town were asking. Our cat had suffered one previous urinary blockage in November and then another one this weekend during all of bad driving conditions and craziness. We took him into the emergency vet, where they unblocked him, ran some tests, and recommended a Perineal Urethrostomy. On Monday we got a quote from their surgeon and it was $3900 to do the procedure, on top of $2500 that we had already spent saving his life and keeping him hospitalized to prevent another blockage. While the staff were very kind and experienced, at those prices, we would either had to take out a ridiculous amount of credit that we really can't afford or put him down. I found the Animal Care Clinic online and called in for a quote. Not only did they quote a quarter of the other place's price for the surgery ($1000), they scheduled him to come in for the very next day. We just brought him home from the surgery and he seems alert and happy. He's eating and drinking, and apparently already used the litter box once he woke up from sedation at the vets, which is a great sign. I couldn't be more relieved and happy right now. I am so grateful to the Animal Care Clinic for offering this surgery at an affordable price, for getting us in so quickly, and for the kindness we experienced from the staff while we were there. We have a follow up appointment for Friday and another for two weeks from now, but I'm hopeful that recovery will go great. UPDATE Our cat has completely recovered, which I know because he has gotten back to destroying things around the house and tormenting his sister. Absolutely the best $1000 we have spent, considering he is a very young, healthy cat that now has the rest of his life ahead of him again thanks to Dr. Brandon and the staff. They had us bring him in regularly for check ups during his recovery for no extra charge and were willing to let us drop him off in the morning and pick him up after work. At one point I was concerned about the incision site and I was able to text a photo to Dr. Brandon's personal number so that the staff member on the phone could talk to him and relay his recommendations to me. Additionally, they called several times in the early days after the surgery to check in with me and see how my boy was doing. If you are considering getting a perineal urethrostomy done for your cat and can't afford the outrageous prices of the specialists, I absolutely recommend coming here. It's such a relief to have my cat healthy and causing trouble again. I can't believe that the costs from other vets had us considering putting him down, when his quality of life has been restored to as good, if not better than before. read more

Called around on toot extraction prices from multiple clinics and this place was around $700 vs 1,500-2,000 from others. Brought my dog in here for a tooth extraction as she had broken a canine tooth; they were very helpful and gave me a high and low estimate quote - I scheduled her extraction surgery for the next day. They let me call and check on her (encouraged it even!) because I was nervous as she's a 12 year old with a heart condition. They did a great job; had to end up taking 7 teeth out but didn't charge anymore! They even offered a free check up 2 weeks (or more) after the surgery, called me the next week just to see how she was doing and sent her home with a sample of science diet dental care dog food which helps reduce plaque and tarter. We brought our 5 year old Boxer in for an exam & to update his shots. The staff was very friendly when we called & told us that we could either bring him after scheduling an appointment or we could walk in, but there may be a wait. We decided to do a walk in & were very pleased that they got us in room right away! They weighed him & had us fill out a little bit of paperwork while we waited to be seen. The doctor was professional & asked us questions about his health while he examined him. They checked his skin, ears, mouth & paws. He suggested Benadryl for skin allergies & didn't push him on medication right away. The assistant who helped the doctor was very friendly & held him while the doctor did the exam. The shots were given very quickly by the assistant & they kept him calm. He was given 2 shots & it was very inexpensive.
