I am not sure why this place has got so much hate. Went in and once I was done filling out paperwork, I was heading to the back. I went to one room to have some administrative stuff handled, walked into another. Within 5min, doctor was in the room, asking questions and checking me out. A couple minutes later I had a script sent to my pharmacy. From stepping in to stepping out, under 30min. Easy! So why not 5? Well, to get a 5, you need a little more. Maybe a fresh coat of paint? Brighter waiting room with maybe some music? Also, any urgent care who doesn't have a call ahead or make an appt feature probably won't get a 5. It's 2018 people, get your technology game up. This place might be OK if you need a stitch but don't expect any follow up. Had a COVID test on Weds. Promised results on Friday. No call, left messages. FINALLY! I keep calling and get ahold of someone. No results, call back Saturday. But they are closed Saturday! And Sunday and Monday. I should have looked at these reviews before my visit to Dr. Cordero. Upon my arrival at 5:30pm, the receptionist tried turning me away saying that they stop seeing patients at 5:30pm. Their website clearly states 6:30 and a medical professional's first priority should be patient care rather than ensuring they get off work on time. After finally being brought in from an empty waiting room, Dr. Cordero finally saw me. It took him roughly 4 minutes to "diagnose" my issue and quickly kicked me out of the room after glancing at the clock. This man was more concerned with clocking out on time rather than helping me. My dog received better professional care from the veterinarian for his rash than I did from Dr. Cordero. I'm only writing this review after visiting a different Dr, who actually asked me questions and examined my ailment. His prognosis was completely different, but correct. If you are seeking professional care, do not visit Dr. Cordero. He is more adept to treating runny noses and fevers... if he has time for you. read more

I, too, would give them zero stars. Called ahead of time, and asked if they did physicals for adults. Answer was yes. Then I was asked what it was for. I told them for Boy Scouts as an adult leader. I was told I would have to pay $90 cash, as insurance does not cover this type of physical. So I go in the next morning. After waiting over 90 minutes, I was told the fee was now $155. Really? When I protested, I was told I could always go to another doctor and wait for a physical there. The guy before me, getting a physical for work was charged $110. Do not go here. It is a racket. This place is a joke. I called ahead and arrived when they told me to only to be told that the provider wouldn't be back for 2 hours. I went home and came back again to see the provider who made jokes about Covid and refused to do anything about my symptoms; fever, chills, cough, back aches. I was in bad shape and he told me to "go home and take Tylenol or aleve", even though I told him I had for the last two days and it didn't work. The whole reason I went to the urgent care is because I needed treatment I couldn't get at home, so when he refused to give me treatment, what was I supposed to do. This is the worst place to go if you actually need medical care, you'd be better off going to the ER and waiting 5 hours. At least then you'd get treated. read more

Dr Cordero was very unprofessional and disrespectful when I was seen by him for the fourth month in a row as the physician in my workers comp claim. I was advocating for myself in my appt and asked several questions regarding the plan for how to get better and he didn't like that so it led to use arguing at which point he he decided to yell at that he was discharging me as a patient and to get out, as he pointed to the door! Then proceeded to lie and falsify documents saying I could return to work with no restrictions, yet also stated on the same form that he discharged me as a patient to find another physician for treatment. So I have filed a formal complaint against him for causing complications with workers comp case and will be filing a lawsuit for loss of wages against him. He was so out of just because I, as the patient, was self-advocating for my health care plan. All he wanted to do was send me to a pain clinic and keep me coming to see him every 45 days days to continue to stay off work. The only staff member there that was professional was named Maria. All the others were more concerned with their lunch orders at 9am then patients. read more

Dr Cordero is a wonderful doctor running a one man ship. However, his staff make it so unbearable I will never return. Just like others mentioned Adriana the receptionist is beyond rude. I sat there for over two hours and watched her treat patient and after patient horrible!! And loud so everyone heard! Their manager was also not a very nice woman who was unprofessional. Very sad that such a good doctor has such poor staff and I hope one day he realizes this. They constantly say they don't take apts but patient after patting walked in with an apt. Why lie?? I went to Dr, Cordero for a bladder infection. I think he should have his license revoked. He accused me of having "dirty sex" which was not the case and proceeded to lecture me on how good girls wouldn't be in this predicament. He let me leave without a prescription and with a terrible bladder infection. Also scared the bageezas out of me by saying I had e.coli. Upon seeing Dr. McBride in Cambria a few days later, he explained that there are many different causes of bladder infections and e.coli. is one of the most common bacteria in them. Dr. McBride gave me a prescription and I got better and he has been my Dr. ever since. I would never return to Medworks or Dr. Cordero and I would encourage others not to either. read more

If I could post negative stars, I would do so. I took my 3 year old daughter here as her pediatrician was out of town. The NP was completely out of line with her comments and questions asked of my daughter. The NP didn't even take her temperature or check her ears until I asked if she planned on doing so at the end of the appointment. (What do you know... Fever and ear infection). The NP's lack of professionalism was horrifying. I would never recommend this place to anyone and I hope the owner/medical director is aware of his staffs actions. read more

I took my elderly father here for two "personal" concerns, and Dr. Cordero didn't even bother to actually examine him - he just gave him a prescription based on my dad's description of what was bothering him. In today's medical system where you can't see your primary care doctor without having to wait 2-3 months, you need to be able to depend on caring and capable doctors at urgent care centers. Went to Med works because I had an infection, office staff was nice but when I saw the doctor he asked no questions and said I had infection which I already knew and gave me antibiotics and sent me on my way. My infection didn't go away and I returned to the med stop in Morro bay and the doctor actually asked questions looking for the underlying cause of the infection. My issue wasn't with the treatment but the lack of questions and the fact I had to pay $65 for copay then I got another bill for $50 from the Templeton location and Morro bay didn't charge me any extra, The Templeton location is trying to rip people off beware. read more

The lady up front was incredibly sweet, which is the only reason for the stars. But the doctor was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I was pretty sure I had strep throat, I had had it before and I felt I was experiencing similar symptoms. I came in to get the swab that tells them if I do or not. I told him that I wanted the swab and then the antibiotic if it was strep and I'd be going home pretty quick. He said something to the effect of "oh you want to go home? Okay go home". He was "joking", but I most certainly got the vibe that I was interrupting a peaceful afternoon of no patients. He only looked at my throat before prescribing me antibiotics. DO NOT GO HERE!!! IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I agree with the other reviewers that the front desk receptionist (Adrianna) is extremely rude and very unhelpful. My 11 year old daughter was refused treatment because of a minor paperwork problem which could have been easily taken care of if the receptionist would have just taken one minute to call my insurance company for verification. My daughter was in tears when we left. And to make a horrible experience even worse, the receptionist left my license in the copy machine!! Waiting and picking up my prescription at the pharmacy took way longer than being properly examined by this doctor. Wished it was a primary care facility. People posting negative reviews sound like they think they know better than medical professionals. Take their advice with a huge grain of salt because you don't wait nearly as long as they say, even with a lobby full of other patients. Wait wasn't long, about 20 minutes. Staff was friendly. I think there's been a major change in the staff. Receptionist was nice, not condescending at all. Not Adrianna.(like the other reviews complain about) prescription was sent and ready to pick up from my regular pharmacy, told it may take a few minutes for them to fill so I ran some errands until I got a text about when they were ready to pick up. I went to the office with a severe sore throat at 11:00am. I filled out the paperwork and gave them my insurance ID card and drivers license. They checked online about the insurance and came back with info from an employer and plan I had not had for SEVEN years. The staff did nothing helpful to resolve the issue. Quite the opposite. They were rude, condescending, and very nasty. I went outside the office and contacted the insurance company. The company verified coverage and offered to send via fax or email the correct info. TERRIBLE Urgent Care! Dr. Cordero is the only physician on duty here. I called in the morning to ask for an appointment later in the day, but was told by the (very rude) receptionist (who spoke very little English) that because they are an urgent care, they do not take appointments. I showed up around 9:30 am to wait, and waited 2 and a half hours before being brought to a room. After being put in a room, I waited another hour before the doctor came in. While waiting in the waiting room with around 30 other very disgruntled patients, a 'friend' of the doctor walked in, went straight to the back and they chatted about 'old times' for about 30 minutes while his patients were waiting. Talk about unprofessional! Once the doctor saw me, he told me I had allergies, without even looking at my throat, ears or nose. I had a sore throat, ear aches, sinus headaches and pressure, and was coughing to the point of vomiting and passing out. He sent me home with allergy nasal spray. The following day after starting the medication, I lost hearing in my right ear and my symptoms got worse. Went to the urgent care in SLO two days later, and was finally correctly diagnosed with a severe sinus and ear infection, as well as asthma flare ups from the coughing. read more

Got a hep b vaccination. Administered incorrectly, too high up on my shoulder which resulted in SIRVA (google it) Physical therapy didn't help so I had to get surgery, doing physical therapy again. Still hurts so now I'm a lawsuit with the government for a vaccine injury. Didn't do malpractice against this place bc my lawyer said it's a very hard process to go through so make sure you watch if you end up getting a vaccine here. Know where it's supposed to be injected bc trust me, you do not want to go through what I am. read more

It was a Saturday and I thought my 10 month old might have an ear infection. I arrived at their office at 3 and the hours on the door stated they were open until 4. Nobody was in the waiting room, but when I asked the receptionist to be seen she said they aren't taking anymore patients today! Um, you are an urgent care right? And you are open for another hour? Can someone just look in my babies ear to tell me if she needs antibiotics, so hopefully we can sleep tonight? Nope. By then the one in Paso was closed, so I had to drive to SLO. I gave one stare because no stars isn't an option. After a procedure I had done I had secondary effects the place the did it sent me to ER the next day. Two day later it continued to get worse. The place that did the procedure wanted to see it so I went the there they said go see the dr who ordered the test. So I did which was one of the drs here. I have never been so disrespected. He said he was discharging me from his care and would have me another dr by Monday. Mean while my work a medical facility and the place that did the procedure that I should seek more medical treatment. So I call the place back that did the procedure back and they said go to the ER again. I was on an IV with in minutes getting medical treatment. They prescribed me three medications before discharging me. This and pretty much all urgent cares on the central coast are awful. They don't care about their patients. They are rude. I have seen one nice dr at a Paso urgent care and I'm sure once he got his feet wet he left. My advice just don't go there. Try your normal dr or go to the hospital. This is the worst urgent care I've ever been to. Unfortunately, it's one of the only ones my insurance covers. I've been seen a couple of times by the female Physician's Assistant (I can't remember her name). She is downright incompetent. She can't seem to diagnose illnesses to save her life. And every time I have seen her, she leaves the room and has to go talk to the doctor. Twice I had an illness that needed antibiotics and she refused to prescribe them for me. And Dr. Cordero is no better. I saw him one time when I got kicked in the shin by a donkey. I could literally feel through my skin that my shin was fractured. He didn't take x-rays, said it was merely a bruise, and kicked me out after complaining to me for 10 minutes about how loud and annoying the donkeys in his neighborhood were. It took WEEKS for the pain to go away, and even to this day, two years later, I can still feel the shin bone injury through my skin. And don't even get me started on the ridiculously long wait times. After first arriving the front desk staff did not instill confidence. Was not polite took 30 min to copy my photo ID & insurance card. Waited in total for 1 1/2 hrs to be seen with only 2 other patients there! I was seen by a PA no doctor on duty because he was out of country for a month! How can they operate without a doctor?
